  the imposing lodge on whose polished parquet i now am standing offers me not mere views through floor-to-ceiling plate glass windows but expansive vistas.

  formerly, from mullioned panes in my small and tilting cottage, i would gaze with unspoken delight upon the setting sun and my very good fortune.

  i was happy to be alive amidst simple things and pleasures.

  Another 144,000 Question

  okay, based on my reading, you're clearly better off being one of the 144,000. first, you get to reside in heaven, while everyone else is consigned to living on earth.

  second, a spirit (in wts eschatology) is much better than being a flesh and bone human.

  they can fly, read in a darkened room and they get to be with god for eternity.. but what of everyone else?

  Listener: The org says that the resurrected ones to earth will be neither female nor male (and we are not to speculate the good and bad of this). But it means their purpose on earth will be different.

  Like barbies and kens. LOL.

  After Armageddon there will be much work to be done. People will have to conserve their energy and sex would be a distraction and a depletion of energy. No male or female means you will be robots and work horses.

  JW's are not nice people

  i cut and pasted the subject line from a comment made by one of this board's longtime members.

  it got me wondering if this is the prevalent thinking in here.

  for a very long time i believed that jw's and all fundamentalist christian folk are a cut above the norm.

  I knew a JW who advised me to do something that was illegal. She was "in the business" and said she did it all the time.

  I knew a JW who stole from his JW family, deliberately and deceitfully.

  I knew a JW who told me how some elders had hit him up for money to buy a property to build a KH while he was "on probation" (whatever you all call it) and when he "contributed" the money he was soon reinstated. Eventually they turned the property and did not ever build the KH.

  I imagine there might be some decent folk who are JW, but even among those I have been told that anyone who is NOT a JW is like "fair game" for whatever deceitful practices they use. I guess that's what they mean by "theocratic warfare". To a JW, it is "allowed" to take advantage of someone who is not a JW because---why? They are "heathen" or something?

  Caminate: They must have found out that married mates experience a special kind of pleasure while engaging into sexual relations and expressed a selfish desire to taste that one too.

  That was before they found out about the nagging they would have to put up with. Now they want to go back.

  Duck and cover

  did any of you here have to do the duck and cover drills during the 1950's.since i never lived in that time period, i would want to know..

  In elementary school, we had drills like that. We all had to get under our desks when the alarm went off. We had two types of alarms---one was a fire alarm and the other was a drill alert alarm. (I imagine some still use this for bad storms or tornado warnings). No one was ever really afraid; it was like playing fun and games. It was fun because we got out of having to do school work for awhile and we could be noisy and crawl from desk to desk to visit our friends. Teachers didn't have that much control to keep us quiet!

  A few years later, the drills were different. It was the "Cuban Crisis" situation.

  There was a train track that was near our school. We had drills quite often. We would have to leave classroom and line up on the playground. Once there, when everyone was in formation, we had to go single file and walk to the train track and just stand there forever. All this took probably an hour. Then, we were all made to wear dogtags. We were told we might need them if we got separated from our families. If we were at school when the bombs started we might have to take a train out and it might be a while before we could be reunited with our families.

  It didn't bother me at all. I actually looked forward to a train trip away from the humdrum. Thought about losing the dog tag in transit and becoming a world adventurer. Then, students started swapping dog tags with friends as a "going steady" item but everybody had to give the tags back to proper owner very quickly if there was a drill, because teachers started checking our tags in line-ups.

  Again, no one I know of was really scared about anything. We all just liked getting out of the classroom.

  Why the JW's mental image of Paradise is a pipe dream

  yesterday during the witchtower study, every one was.

  talking about how wonderful paradise will be with no food.

  shortages, perfect weather, no pollution, no disease, and be.

  Everyone will eat straight off the tree or bush. There will be no cooking. It will be a Raw Food Paradise. Refrigerators and gas stoves are polluters and use energy that pollutes.

  "They never show factories with smoke stacks. What is going to be used for power? Oil, gas, coal? "

  What do you need power for? There will be no jet skis. They are dangerous. You can ride a dolphin instead. We don't need smoke stacks of any kind. No one will pour concrete anymore. Concrete factories are a big polluter. You forget---Jah is going to destroy every industry that is "ruining" the world. Coal? The miners have had to work under conditions that are dangerous to health and well being. There will not be anymore "jobs" like that. And you have seen the fiasco brought about by drilling for oil and gas.

  "Who is going to make cars or are we going to all have our personal elephant, donkey, or horse."

  You will remember that donkeys have spoken and Mr. Ed, too. You will have your personal animal companion that will speak as well as ride. Your prissy little dog will not sit in a velvet chair with a rhinestone collar. Dogs were meant to pull sleds. Even the smallest dog can wear a saddlebag to carry your acorns and pinecones and be of help around the forest.

  "I would hate to be in charge of cleaning up all of the elephant crap in my garage or stepping in lion crap in the back yard."

  Dung is good for making fire. You can sell it on the black market to those who can't hack the Raw Food Diet.

  "How long will take all of the joyus survivors to bury the billions of dead people and to remove all of the debris left after the defastation of Armageddon?"

  This won't take long at all; bio-remediation will be used.

  "When the powergrid is knocked out and there is no power to run pumps and our toilets no longer have water to flush we will go back to outhouses. "

  The toilet systems we have now are part of the big problem with water shortage. It is wasting our water. Compost toilets will be much better; cleaner, less wasteful of natural resources.

  "Who is going to make the toilet paper?"

  When you are on a natural Raw Food Diet, you will not require toilet paper. The perfect poop is dry, not sticky. When you have enough fiber and hydration in your diet, you will not have a problem with mud butt.

  "Who is going to make the shoes that we will need to do all of that walking since we may not have cars."

  We will make shoes from the tire treads of those cars. Did you know that:

  jehovah's witnesses are the true christian congregation.. i know they are because they tell the truth and their core doctrines have not ever changed:.

  "jehovah is the grand identifier of his true messengers.

  he identifies them by making the messages he delivers through them come true.

  and i'm convinced the gb is scratching it's head trying to decipher j's spirit direction in all of this.

  I'm in agreement with IsaacCaustin. This book is just an ego thing to make the elder's "feel special". I don't see anything in it of real importance or of any help to those who are trapped. Any importance you give it is basically an illusion and playing up to their idea of "specialness" and "secrets". I didn't see anything worth being called special or secret.

  god, the first cause, with neither beginning nor end, both omnipotent and omnipresent, creator of the universe and all things is jealous of my sentimentality of a parcel of land?.

  he is standing in the celestial heavens, with arms crossed, jealous of my kinship with my fellow countrymen?

  furious that i would feel an affinity toward my local government of which affects my daily life?.

  If you are referring to the WT policy about neutrality...this is one thing they are correct in teaching.

  The problem is that it is "forced" on you within doctrine and it can never truly be instilled in your heart unless you really feel that way.

  Although WT does seem to mix truth with lies, you all seem to discount that they do use some truths. And this is one of them.

  National pride and patriotism does serve to divide people. One must assume an air of arrogance of "being better" than someone else when they flaunt their "pride".
