appearing in our news today is this item which may, or may not, lay the conspiracy theories to bed.
us investigators solve 9/11 mysteryaugust 22, 2008, 8:32 am.
ap [enlarge photo]us investigators say they have solved the mystery of the collapse of world trade centre building seven in the september 11 attacks.. the 47 storey trapezoid sat north of the world trade centre towers, across vesey street in new york city's lower manhattan.. on september 11, it was set on fire by falling debris from the burning towers, but sceptics have long argued that fire and debris alone should not have brought down such a big steel and concrete structure.. scientists with the national institute of standards and technology say their three year investigation of the collapse determined the demise of wtc seven was actually the first time in the world a fire caused the total failure of a skyscraper.. "the reason for the collapse of world trade centre seven is no longer a mystery," said dr shyam sunder, the lead investigator on the team.. investigators also concluded that the collapse of the nearby towers broke the city water main, leaving the sprinkler system in the bottom half of the building without water.. the building has been the subject of a wide range of conspiracy theories for the last seven years, partly because the collapse occurred about seven hours after the twin towers came down.

one day after a sunday meeting, 2 elders got into it with each other and started screaming at one another in the back of the hall just as service arrangements were being made.
of course, the boe counseled them strongly but the result was that the congregation lost respect for the whole body.
The elders think they have authority over you, but they don't. I think you have to take alot on yourself to think you have the very great responsibility to advise other people as to what is right or wrong. ..... Yet they still assume the position of authority over the spiritual well being of their fellow man.
Don't the elders fall into having mind games played on them? Could that be the cause of the arrogance and misuse of position?
I mean after all, isn't it somehow implied to them that they were specially chosen by the holy spirit? that they are part of "jah's elite forces"?
And hasn't it been impled to them that they are in training to rule over all of us one day, as kings and princes?
With that in mind, of course they assume authority over everyone in "their charge".
In order for their future status as ruling kings and princes, don't they need to learn to mete out perfect justice?
Aren't they just practicing on members while in this system and isn't this "practice" necessary in order to attain that eventual perfection?
I would like to know who exactly instills all this garbage in their minds. Are they hypnotized in this training school? Were they like this before they became elders?
where i live we have received 10 inches of rain within the last 24 hours..... another 12 to 17 hours of the same are expected!, some areas have gotten close to 30 inches.
its crazy...my pool is over flowing, pets won't go out....we're drowning!
i can't believe we haven't lost power yet!.
Sounds like it's pretty risky to go out....and especially after dark.
This is from newspaper:
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — Tropical storm Fay continued to hover just offshore Thursday as it poured more rain on Florida’s central Atlantic coast.
Hundreds of homes have been flooded, trapping residents and leaving much of Florida a soggy mess.
Meanwhile, authorities say alligators, snakes and other wildlife have been spotted in some flooded neighbourhoods after high water drove the animals from their normal lairs.
Forecasters expected the storm to continue a zigzag course by hitting the state for a third time in a week, along with Georgia, but didn’t think it would strengthen to a hurricane over the Atlantic.
The storm flooded hundreds of homes in Brevard and St. Lucie counties, some with up to 1 1/2 metres of water, forcing dozens of rescues.
Gov. Charlie Crist, who said the storm is becoming a “serious, catastrophic flooding event.”
Water was still high Thursday in much of southern Brevard County and officials feared the northern sections would be inundated next.
Emergency management spokeswoman Kimberly Prosser said wildlife officers have received several calls about alligators and other animals spotted in flooded neighbourhoods, but only two small alligators had been captured.
“In the past we’ve usually had flooding in pockets. I have not seen anything this widespread throughout the county,” Prosser said.
About 10,200 homes and businesses in the county were without power early Thursday, and about 134 people spent the night in shelters, she said. The county is home to NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, which has been closed to most workers and all visitors since Tuesday. The centre reported no significant damage.
“We can’t even get out of our house,” said Billie Dayton of Port St. Lucie, as waters lapped at her porch. “We’re just hoping that it doesn’t rain anymore.”
Fay could dump 75 centimetres of rain in some areas of Florida and the U.S. National Weather Service said nearly 65 centimetres had already fallen near Melbourne, just south of Cape Canaveral.

defamation of religion the new international legal craze?
"is liability for defamation of religion catching on?
This bill has been discussed for several years, has gained momentum, and seems to be closer to resolution or at least compromise.
Here's a clip from http://www.becketfund.org/index.php/article/797.html?PHPSESSID=c053be0fb98673cf13a14265379334ea
"Angela C. Wu, international law director at the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, today (July 17, 2008)....
Ms. Wu said if "defamation of religions" resolutions currently before the United Nations went into effect in member states, any religious speech another group or individual found "offensive" could be criminalized.
"The U.N. resolutions establish the ability to sue for “defamatory” speech of an idea rather than a person. Criticizing any religion, saying the Prophet Mohamed is not a prophet, or Jesus did not come to redeem sins, could offend someone and be a cause of action," said Miss Wu. But Ms. Wu said that Rep. Steve Cohen, Tennessee Democrat, and 16 co-sponsors have proposed legislation to thwart the U.N. proposals, as well as the blasphemy and “hate speech” laws already in the books in much of Europe and the Middle East. "
Do you think this would mean that JWs could no longer criticize other religions?
Would this mean that ex-JWs could no longer criticize the WBTS organization?

"Is liability for “defamation of religion” catching on? The United Nations hopes so, reports Maclean’s. (HT: Volokh Conspiracy) According to Maclean’s, Pakistan brought the first “defamation of religions” resolution, entitled “Defamation of Islam,” to the UN Human Rights Council in 1999. "In March, the Islamic nations were successful in introducing a change to the mandate of the UN’s “special rapporteur on freedom of expression” (an official who travels the world investigating and reporting on censorship and violations of free speech) to now “report on instances where the abuse of the right of freedom of expression constitutes an act of racial or religious discrimination.” "
I am wondering if you think this will affect freedom of being able to speak out against cult teachings in the future?
i had a scary experience this weekend in dallas.
when we returned to the car, i put the key into my anti-theft device (not the club, but similar) and it wouldn't turn.
it took some 10 minutes of jiggling and hitting and bumping till it finally turned and unlocked it.
Hopefully, the problem is simple and maybe this will work.
If the key turns but only with effort, lubricate the lock mechanism with graphite powder or silicone spray by injecting the lubricant into the keyway. Work the key or thumb latch back and forth to distribute the lubricant.
If it's more complicated than this, here is a good reference source for troubleshooting:

the book study is one of the most useless meetings.
the same books have been studied 3 or 4 times.the meeting takes only an hour but takes up most of your evening.
and, it is one of the least attended meetings.. why haven't they combined the watchtower study with just question and answer and then follow with the book study with just question and answer?

they note that restricting the internet by having the pc in the front room not the child's bedroom is no longer practical as the internet can be accessed from cell phones etc.

The scriptures say that in the last day there will be an increase in knowledge.
Shouldn't young ones take advantage of all that Jehovah has provided?
Isn't knowledge to be weighed and sifted to find accuracy? Isn't that accurate knowledge to be valued?
