The WTS - The Thief of Dreams and Souls
by Hopscotch inrecently i heard this song called "who will take my dreams away' from the movie the city of lost children.
the movie is about an evil scientist who kidnaps children to steal their dreams for his own selfish means.. .

Smiddy - Sorry I've only just found your reply now. Thanks so much for your kind words. You're right about this site giving us support when we really need it when horrible things like that happen.
It was finding this site and reading the personal stories on here when I first started fading (without knowing that's what I was doing) that I realised for the first time it wasn't me it was 'them' (WTS) who had the problem. I was not evil, satanic, spiritually sick, deceptive and all the other things I had been called - I was just a normal person waking up to all the lies and brain washing that I had been fed for 40 years.
It was an amazing relief and that then spurred me on to do more research and eventually get the courage to share what I had found with my husband (who already unknown to me had lots of doubts) and within a short time we had faded for good.
Even though I don't post much I come back and read this site often for encouragement and support.
Thanks again Smiddy

I just found this song again on my music list and and while listening I remembered this thread I made 3 years ago.
Since making this thread I have had even more dreams stolen - the dream of seeing my niece and nephews grow up and get married. Two of them have been married in the past 3 years and of course I wasn't invited let alone told when the wedding was on. In fact I recently found out that my niece was getting married the next day by reading a post my JW brother had posted on a weather forum!
And a few weeks ago my elderly JW dad who had restablished a small amount of phone contact with me after my mother in laws passing last year wrote me a curt note saying he did not want me to contact him again. He told me his eldership could be in jeopardy if he continued contact with me (I'm not df'd or da'd) and that was too important to him to lose.
So the dream of having any kind of normal relationship with my father before he dies has been stolen away again.

Peter Madsen - that was the guy whose name I couldn't remember. Thanks Geevee
Doofdaddy could it have been Bruce Fenson you are thinking about? He had a bit of a Bob Hawke look. He was a really decent guy. He had spent many years in the corporate world as a business consultant and had raised a family so was a lot more realistic in his outlook.
Julia we had Don Wilson visit just after he started on the circuit work. Maybe he mellowed over time but he was quite disliked in our circuit.

From the Australian 'down under' here are some I can remember
Allan (& Fay) Mason
Richard Brace
Graham Richardson
Rex Manwearing - I remember him going on about how some brothers were so materialistic they had 'wall to wall' carpet and used more than one type of wine glass at dinner. Very rude man.
Bill Whitehead (CO then DO) - very flippant about sickness and death in his talks - the first time I heard the term 'get into the new system via the underground' used
Don Wilson - used to be a baker in Mackay before going on the circuit. I found both him and his wife to be rude people
Bob (& Diedre) Blackstock - stayed with us many times and we actually had some really good fun with them
Bruce Fenson - very decent bloke
Vin (& Sue) Toole - stayed with us many times before they went to Bethel
Michael (& Roslyn) Dawson - arrogant and Roslyn had all these supposed allergies
John Sullivan
Ben & Sally Groth - knew them both when they were young publishers before they married and went on the circuit
Claude (& Helen) Munro - knew them before and after they went on the circuit. Claude died of cancer in 1994.
Geoff Schlark (not sure of spelling)
Gary Spalding (DO) - stayed with us - nice fellow
There was another one (I can't remember his name right now) - his wife Dorothy got sick while they were on the district. After she died he remarried (less than a year later) a much younger girl named Sue and they went on the circuit. I remember not long before they came to our congregation the young married couples had been given a talking to about what kind of touching was appropriate in the hall - eg discreetly holding hands and if the husband puts his hands on his wife's back he is not to move it about. Anyway they come along for the circuit visit and during every meeting he had his hands all over his wife, rubbing her back etc. Caused a bit of a stir amongst us young couples!
And the ones who have been mentioned:
Ray Cowling (aka Raymond M. Cowling - this was how he labelled his things) - we nicknamed him Raymond Manifest Cowling as he seemed to use the word manifest so many times in his talks. Was also the one who I think started the saying "If it's human and it moves, witness to it".
Hans Hubler - enough has been said about this unlikeable man
Someone mentioned Winston Payne - I remember him and his wife used to live in the tiny room/flat under the Kingdom Hall in Red Hill (Qld). What a creepy place that hall was!

Why do all the COs have food intolerances/allergies/special dietary requirments?
by Julia Orwell init's a well known phenomenon i've observed from jwn, my own cos. a new co we had once who was fresh from being a normal elder and after a couple of visits he said, "well i've finally become a true co...i now have food intolerances.".
i mean, only once did my husband and i ever have a co around for dinner and they couldn't eat this, he couldn't eat that, she couldn't eat this...it was so hard to cook something with none of the zillions of things they were 'allergic' to.. and then after all that the wife couldn't come anyway because she had a naturopath appointment or something.. why do all co's seem to have weird dietary problems?.

I think the Aussie equivalent of a "potluck" is "bring a plate".

Your day(s) off: rest and relaxation or catching up?
by compound complex insome of my friends are weekend warriors, so to speak.
days off are not always the weekend.. do you get to chill out?
coco is semi-retired but always tired .

Dear semi-retired but always tired Coco,
I am writing in response to your query about my days off. My days off fall on the weekends but let me tell you that Saturday and Sunday in the Hopscotch household are rarely days of rest and relaxation.
There's all the washing to catch up on, the yard work to attend to, the usual never ending household chores such as vacuuming and washing the floors to be done, not to mention the spring cleaning that has been taking place for much longer than just spring!
However in spite of there always being so much catching up to do on the weekends, we try to make sure that there is a little bit of time (usually on Sunday afternoon) to chill out. Sometimes this involves just getting on the couch and watching a movie, othertimes it could be a little swim in the pool and on other occasions we have been known to just sit and sip on a cocktail and watch the birds.
I really do wish the weekday/weekend thing was reversed. Two days at work (for the same weekly money of course!) and five days of rest and relaxation. Now wouldn't that be the life.
Best wishes

Weird "new world" artwork from the 2013 calendar
by cedars inmy mother-in-law has a strange obsession with calendars, and orders the society's calendar each year.
this year's calendar is especially weird.
it features images depicting future events - in particular, the society's vision of the new world order.. i've taken the opportunity to scan some of the images for you all to check out.. please note - there are captions for each of the images, but i don't have the english language version of the calendar so i'd rather just quote the scripture used so as not to reveal which country i'm in.. .

I'm wondering why the builders need hard hats if they are perfect and won't have accidents and there is 'no sickness and death' etc
