  So my elder/dad says he will shun me....i figured as much...

  so i know many of you guys say the best way to show dubs is to be all happy and all when you exit.....but not all of us are doin that well at it....even though i have lost all friends from my dub life....i really dont want to lose my son and folks....this would happen if i end this odd and painful arrangement of a marriage to a really wonderful wife who is hardcore jw.

  my desire for freedom and normal social life, and the 800 lb gorilla in the room we live with are not doing so well...........i am tired of having to leave the house and go in the garage to talk on the phone with my non-dub friends.....tired of totally separate social lives.......tired of rules in place that prevent us from speaking about certain taboo topics with each other........my mental/emotional state is not well and has not been for four years.

  so i spoke with my dad very openly and honestly about how i have had to wear "masks" through life....one for school since third grade to fit in....another for my parents and jw friends........and that now i still lead a double life when not around my wife........told him outright i feel jws meet every single definition of a cult btw.......he already knew i felt that way but had never said it so directly........i asked him if he felt history repeats itself and could fds not be just like the scribes and pharisees that made so many rules for gods people that they had actually corrupted gods message............he said he has wondered that before too.

  The pain, the heartbreak, the destroyed hopes and plans, the unhappiness and depression caused by this cult is beyond belief. I am really feeling for you at the moment oompa - I know the pain of losing your entire family through shunning. 9 months on and it is still so raw. But what you are facing is much much worse. Don't they (WTS) ever wonder why so many of it's intelligent, caring members end up turning to alcohol to self medicate away the pain being part of this cult causes?

  All I can say is hang in there oompa - keep making plans for your own future which I'm sure will one day bring you the peace and happiness you deserve.

  Thank you CoCo for sharing these. The images are absolutely amazing to say the least. It would be wonderful to visit the gallery and stand in front of them, watching the images shape shift before your eyes. I spent 3 weeks in Sedona in 1977 and one of my dreams is to spend time there again.

  need help/backup about JW new light

  ok i'm trying to prove certain points to a jw i know who has questions.

  i need to know what the new light is about the "generation" and if possible where this new light was launched from eg watchtower, which article etc.... also it has been said here that there is a new thinking about 1935, that happened in 2008 i need to know for definate what this thinking is, and again where it was stated in the wbst litriture.... .

  please help this could mean alot to alot of trapped jw's... i can think of 4 already....

  MY BROTHER-IN-LAW HAS DIED

  this is one post i had always hoped i would never have to do, but after a long and brave battle, my beloved brother in law has died.

  i have done a couple of threads on this in the past, so many of you know the battles he was facing.

  he had been diagnosed earlier this year with myelodysplastic syndrome and the mortality rate of this disease is quite high.

  Leolaia - Thank you so much for your information. I had been wondering about the accuracy of the book since I read it as I have been having a hard time finding information to back it up as many sources say all the Sybilline works were destroyed before the book of Revelation was written.

  The other information you have given is very interesting and sounds more probable. I will definitely look at the links you have provided.

  2aTap I remember Rex Manwaring well. Opinionated, bombastic, ignorant so and so he was. He used to rant about the evils of wall to wall carpet and how materialistic and worldly it was if you had more than one type of wine glass on the table.

  Do you remember Raymond M. (Manifest) Cowling. One of his favourite sayings was "If it's human and it moves, witness to it." Then some years later is favourite word was manifest - hence the nickname.

  When I was fading from JWs one of the books I read was The Crucifixion of Truth by Tony Bushby.

  This is a quote from p279 of his book.

  The forerunner writing to the Book of Revelation (c. 500BCE)

  This document is the apocalyptic writing of the Sibyl of Tarquin, originally called The Mysteries of Osiris and Isis. It was the true origin of the Book of Revelation and the probable source of the concept of the Essene's two most precious prayers to the Heavenly Father and Earthly Mother. The Sibyl's writings were officially recognized in Rome and highly regarded by numerous religious sects for 1100 years. Constantine referenced the Sibylline Books shortly before his death in 337 (The Cambridge Ancient History; Vol. xii; Pg. 682) and her oracles were deeply revered by Italians and Romans until at least the sixth century.

  The church claimed that apostle John wrote the Book of Revelation after a 'mystical experience' while exiled in a cave on the Isle of Patmos. That was a false pretence and the concept of the book's origin was plagiarized verbatim from Damis's 'Memoirs' in which the Ghost eventually retired to the Isle of Patmos and wrote its life story

  He then quotes some of Book No. 2 of Sibyl of Tarquin and beside the writing, notes the corresponding verse in the Book of Revelation.

  Has anyone else heard of this. By the way I am not saying I agree or disagree with his work just that is is interesting.

  Thanks for posting these chasson. Not much has changed in their style of whipping the troops into action has it. At least back then they were honest enough to call it advertising.

  Thought this was an interesting quote in the May 1945 edition:

  "Without a doubt the goal of all youthful witnesses of Jehovah is to be a full-time, year-round minister of the gospel when they become older."

  I wonder how many of those 'youthful witnesses' of 1945 left school and pioneered without furthering their education or pursuing a career, only to find as they reached their 40's, 50's and 60's they had to struggle to make ends meet, and now in their 80's are facing the old age and death that they were told would never happen.
