My 16 year Old is Having Surgery Tomarrow

my son is having two large cysts removed tomarrow, they are in sort of a delicate area.
because of where they are located, the potential for heavy blood loss is high.

been in the truth for over 30 years together with my sibblings and mother.
mum passed away last year with parkinsons desease.

Hi and welcome focariedu21. Glad you and your family have woken up. I'm sorry to hear about your mum and dad. My husband and I have been out for about 5 years now (he was an elder for a while). We were in the north Brisbane area for the 40 years that we were JWs and I grew up with many Italians in our cong (in the days before they had a separate cong).
The limbo after first waking up is the hard bit especially with family. My family (dad who is an elder, brother and sister and their families - my mum died 6 years ago) started shunning us just over 2 years ago even though we are not df'd or da'd. My husbands brother has been in bethel for over 30 years the last 14 in Brooklyn bethel.
It was my husband and I who were left to care for his elderly JW mother by ourselves (she has parkinsons and schizophrenia). We ended up having her live with us for three and a half years which was very diffictult on our family. She ended up in an aged care home last year. My husbands brother and his wife were always too busy with their 'very important' (their words) bethel assignment and touring around giving talks to be bothered taking care of his mother. So most of it fell on my shoulders.
Things get better and more settled as time goes on after leaving JWs. We are slowly making new friends and have got in touch with non jw relatives who we barely knew. My son is very glad we left and is at uni and making a good life for himself away from the WT.

Old Time Assemblies Question - Watchtower Study
by Mad Sweeney inplease refresh my memory.. in the past, did they have an actual watchtower study at the assembly with questions and answers?.
if so, do you know when that ended and they started doing the review as a 30 minute talk?.
what would the arrangement at the assembly in, say, 1966 have been for the watchtower study?.

Yes Mad Sweeney they did have an actual WT study at the assemblies. I remember that at one time it used to be assigned to a congregation and the brother taking the study chose some in his cong to be the 'pretend congregation' who sat up the front at the circuit assembly. All the answers were allocated and rehearsed (I was actually in one of these). I seem to remember that at other times, maybe for the district conventions, that they had a pretend congregation sit on the platform and the study was conducted like a mini WT study at the hall. I can't remember exactly when they switched to the summary talks. These memories are starting to get a bit vague now the longer I am out.

by brotherdan inso this weekend my wife had a major grand mal seizure for the first time in her life.
she was rushed to the er.
a few hours later while i was at her side she had another major one.. it was the scariest moment in my life.

I seem to remember that sometime in the last few months you have posted that your wife was suffering depression and was suicidal. Is she on anti-depressants? If so there is a possibility that they may be the cause of the siezures - there are some anti-depressant medications that carry a risk (albeit a small one) of inducing siezures.

When I watched this I kept thinking I hope my JW family that is shunning me is watching too. Hopefully some of the similarities between the brethern and the JWs rang some alarm bells for JWs watching. There is a place for comments on the ACA site under the video. Be good if a lot of exjws commented.

I found this info on youtube under the video:

it was written in [like] the 1940s as a jazz/blues ditty.
Warren did it for a movie that came out in '89, i believe.
it was never on an official WZ release
but was included in? the 2 CD box set, with booklet called
Warren Zevon "I'll Sleep When I'm? Dead" anthology."

Earthquake in N.Z.
by smiddy ini guess the witnesses are rejoicing over the death and destruction of the latest earthquake in n.z.as proof of the imminent coming of armageddon,and their deliverance into the "new world system of things" i can just see it now ,the kh`s in nz will be filled to overflowing in the next month,......then in six months later it will be back to the status quo.. p.s when jesus said their would be" earthquakes in one place after another" couldn`t he have identified these areas for the faithfull ?
so at least beleivers would have been spared the trauma ?
of course non beleivers would have suffered the consequences,but why should beleivers suffer also ?.
