Why Do So Many DF'd End In Some Sort Of Trouble?

most ex-jw's df/da that i know end up living a dangerous life.

some get into drugs, prostitution, gangsterism,etc.

as a result they prove the jw theory that says "whoever leaves jehovah's organisation won't make it" right.. it's difficult for me to say this, but it seems like jw's are partly right on this one.. why do most ex-dubs end up in a predicament of some sort?

This post is really dumb.

When children start to make mistakes, the world even sees that it is a good idea to spend more quality time with them and get them involved in the community so the feel they belong to something.

When the WT sees that the kid is making mistakes, SHUNNED.

Probably, not the best idea when they just need our love.

But wait, if we go by the WT it is us showing love by SHUNNING them and to that...

Service meeting last week on how to treat DF ones

i just learned there was a service meeting part last week on how to treat df ones.

the person i heard this from said it was very hard on many in her congo.

did anyone attend that meeting or has there been discussion here?

Yeah, this is true. My dad called, which is ironic, to see if I had gone to the meeting and if I got a better understanding of why things are the way they are. So I read the study article, it was in the back of the book in a special section to give deeper understanding to hard topics, and what I found was a bunch of hog wash. It just kept going on and on about how important the arrangement is for the congregation. The kicker was when I called my dad back to him how it sucked and I feel even worse now about it and how wrong it is. He tells me to look at the 6th and 7th paragraph of the WT study article for this past Sunday, cause he thought it fit. He's so smug. So I looked at it, and it was about how not to try to win at an argument but to keep your brother and also about not suing your brother, rather be wronged before that happens. So, I asked him, if I were to use the Watchtower logo on a business logo of mine, would the Watchtower org. sue me? Of course he did not reply. Funny how the scriptures apply to us but not them.

I had added a comment as well when I posted this topic, but it didn't show up once it posted. I have been having problems with the site lately, it hasn't been allowing replies or posts sometimes.

What I had added to my original post was...

If you have DF'd people while being an elder, have you ever contacted those individuals, once you left the organization, to let them know that you were sorry for what you had done to them?

Society's use of 2 John 9-11 to justify total shunning totally wrong!

the watchtower society appears to have totally twisted the meaning of the original greek work for "greeting in 2 john 9-11 to justify not even saying a polite "hello" to disfellowshipped or disassociated ones.

"likewise the term to never say a greeting to him needs to be understood in light of first century practice.

Though you said at the Kingdom Hall, I thought I would share an event that was truly awesome.

I was at one of my friends house when I was younger, when a couple of the local elders came by to visit the Dad. He had got arrested for drunk driving and had already been counseled about drinking. Anyway, we were upstairs when they came by one morning, cuz I had slept over, when they knocked on the door, my friends dad starts tripping out, I guess he had been drinking all night and was still pretty drunk, he opens the door and warns the elders to get off his property. One of the elders was a young brother that had known this guy his whole life, so he starts to quote scripture to him and explain to him that he needs to deal with this spiritual matter. Then the dad explains to him that he warned him first and proceeds to kick the crap out of this elder and when he started running away he kicked him down his driveway. It was out of control. My friend and I just hid out upstairs and at the next meeting acted like nothing ever happened. Needless to say he got disfellowshipped, but not before he kicked some elder ass!

Are the GREAT CROWD even supposed to go to Memorial?

so i ask this because, we read in luke 22:19, "to keep doing this in remebrance of me.

" so the society says that we are commanded to continue to observe this.

however, in john 6:53,54 we read, "most assuredly, i say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.

"Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up in the Last Day." To this, the Society says, it only applies to the Little Flock.

But, they were speaking of the same event, and if the The Great Crowd is not to partake, it would stand to reason that the words to the ANOINTED class to keep doing this in remembrance of me also does not apply to the Great Crowd as well. They should have a special convention of the ANOINTED each year and observe this together and not make us watch everybody pass the bread and cup around like hot potatoes.

Book study comment on DF'ing tonight SUCKED!!!

so i went to the meeting tonight with my mom, cuz she's visiting.

i know i know, that's my first mistake.. so, they're going over this part on disfellowshipping, and they start going on and on about how it's jehovah's love for the congregation that "he disfellowships.".

yeah so its not the organization that disfellowships, its jehovah.

I guess you didn't notice the sarcasm or maybe I expressed my point badly. (which is very possible) The point about that illustration was, not all people are kicked out for the same reasons. Some are out for expressing a difference of opinion when it comes to how things are handled. Some people where kicked out for divorcing their mates that had anal sex with another person, because technically it wasn't genital to genital intercourse, therefore it wouldn't allow for a divorce in that instance. Yes this was before the NEW LIGHT on PORNEA, when they changed their view on the matter, they didn't just reinstate those that had been kicked out for this wrong view, rather they made sure the party had the right attitude before welcoming them back. Yet, they never committed any christian violation. See, as always, things are more complicated than they appear. So I ask you, does it seem like some should be using this example in the halls, cuz its not exactly accurate.

Long time lurker, 1st time poster

well where do i start, perhaps will go into more detail later, though briefly - 40 years young, raised in the truth (kingdom baby, which meant i was never going to make it to primary/secondary school/work/get married/have kids....) former ms, regular pioneer, learnt 3 foreign languages, served in foreign language group, married (wife still goes to meetings), beautiful kids, baptised at 15 years of age, regular pioneer at 15, grew up in divided house.. .

hmmm, will go into my issues with all things organisational later, though firstly want to apologise, for being a self righteous spiritual pratt who did things by the book and sat with other elders/mss and prejudged others for not doing enough and having a wrong attitude about all matters spiritual and organisational.

i stepped down as an ms over a year ago (they were grooming me to be an elder), havent been to a meeting in 3 months, i knew it wasnt the truth for a number of years and have struggled badly the last few years.

I want to say as a recent add myself, it is nice to be able to say how you feel without thinking you're a horrible person. Also, from the way the Society is talking these days, stay with the fade. Lay low when need be, but I wouldn't DA yourself or get DF'd if you can avoid it. I have a friend who just faded quietly and its been about 10 years now. He goes to cong. and family functions with his wife and kids who are still followers, comes once and awhile to meetings just to say hi to old friends and works with and hires dubs without issue, and he does it all under the veil of DEPRESSION. I mean, who can argue mental illness. Point is, at least he can still see and hang with family, without them feeling bad about it. Yet, he and I have had discussions and he says that he's so happy now to be done with the Organization and is just working slowly on the family until they see the truth behind it without feeling he has gone apostate on them.

I'm not sure I ever did, I can honestly say that I have felt more moving feelings at school plays by children than at an assembly or meeting.
