Littlebird,
I sincerely wish you peace and happiness as you start a new chapter in your life. No one should have to tolerate abuse on a daily basis. Your husband sounds like a fanatic. You will be okay.
some of you know i have struggled with this for awhile.
i really do believe in marriage and the committment, however, sometimes enough is enough.. his endless preaching at me and calling me and my (adult) children satan has me realizing that this situation is not going to get better.
the other day he kicked my son out of the house for wearing a cap, in his car, with a skull on it.
Littlebird,

it has been probably discused here.
well, anyway.
what is your opinion about the moslems opening a mosque right next to the former twin towers?.
The Muslim community in New York City do have the right to build their Mosque/Islamic Community Center two blocks away from Ground Zero. Legally, they can build whatever they want on private property. However, does it make sense to do so?
I believe the private owners of the property should be sensitive to the memory of the nearly 3,000 people who were murdered on September 11, 2001. It is true that not all Muslims should be blamed for the acts of a few radical Islamic terrorits. Nevertheless, it is still truly difficult to forget the images of Muslims in various countries cheering, dancing, and praising the terrorist attacks the day after. The suicide attackers were from different countries - but what united them in cause and purpose was their faith - Islam. A close friend of mine comes from an Muslim househould. He now is an atheist. He mentioned to me that his father, who lives in Europe, thought the attacks might be an answer from Allah to the "unholy zionist nation" of the United States. My friend's father is not a radical Islamist, but an ordinary man who owns his own business and is fully intergated in Western life.
Another line of reasoning is the following - what will they teach at the Mosque/Islamic Community Center that is just a mere 2 blocks away? Will it teach tolerance, true love of neighbor, acceptance of women's rights, respect for the American way of life? The thought that such values might not be taught there - a place so near the final resting place of thousands of people - truly upsets most US citizens.
we haven't been to meetings for a few months and weren't aware of the co visit until we received a phone call an hour and a half before the meeting letting us know.
no one came to visit us so far this week, not that i'm complaining.
does the co usually stop by in service?
Circuit Overseers definitely make it a point to visit publishers who are either inactive or cannot attend meetings due to ill health or are in nursing homes. The COs provide training to local elders on how to make encouraging shepherding calls. The CO usually instruct the elders to use the section of the Reasoning Book entitled "Encouragment." The WTBS is making a concerted effort in contacting inactive publishers.
per a recent letter to elders:.
beginning september 1, there will be a change to the way attendance is recorded at congregation meetings.. currently, attendance is counted at 4 of the 5 meeting (public talk, wt study, congregation "bible" study, and service meeting).. but after sept. 1, meeting attendance will only be taken at 2 of the meetings - during the "first quarter" of the wt study, and also at the cbs.. .
no reason in given for the change in the letter, and i can't figure out why myself.. the numbers are not published anywhere - the only "official" record is a 6 month average the co puts together during his visit.. why request less information from the congregations, especially when it "costs" nothing to accumulate it in the first place?
Perhaps they are just trying to simplify things. When I had to serve as Attendant it was rather annoying having to count the attendance twice. I would also have to count how many people were "attending" via the teleconference line - which involved dialing the teleconference number and put in an access code to get the exact number of people listening to the meeting from their home. So perhaps counting attendance just once during the first quarter during the Watchtower Study and once during the Congregation "Bible" Study is just a continuation of there making things more simple for the brothers.
this is gonna be my very first time as a ms.. i'll be on leave for about 3 weeks.. our cong.
is still up and coming, and there is a need for brothers.
right now there is only one elder, 2 ms's including me.. elder told me if i work hard enough and display my love for jehovah, then they will make me an acting secretary in no time.so i am working my a*s off to get that "position".. .
Why is someone who is "reaching out" spending time on this website?
it can be cheap or expensive.
thanks!.

BRUSSELS — The scandal over sexual abuse of children by priests continued to reverberate across Europe on Thursday when authorities raided the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church in Belgium and the home of the country’s former archbishop, according to the prosecutors’ office and local media reports.
The searches Thursday came as a part of the ongoing investigation into charges of sexual abuse by members of the clergy, officials said, but declined to specify the target of the raids. The resignation in April of a popular bishop who admitted to molesting a boy set off a wave of hundreds of sex-abuse claims in Belgium.
Officials searched the palace of the Archbishop of Mechelen-Brussels Thursday, Jean-Marc Meilleur, a spokesman for the Brussels prosecutors’ office, said. “They are looking for documents which could prove whether allegations are correct or not,” Mr. Meilleur said.
Mr. Meilleur said that he was not able to provide any further details on what was discovered during the raids or on the progress of the broader investigation. The search took place during a meeting of senior clerics, although that was a coincidence, he added.
As part of the operation, the home of Godfried Danneels, Belgium’s recently retired archbishop, was also raided, the Belgian television station RTL reported, citing Hans Geybels, a spokesman for the Cardinal Danneels. The former archbishop’s computer was removed from his home as part of the raid, the report added.
It was unclear why officials searched the home of Cardinal Danneels.
Earlier this month Pope Benedict XVI begged forgiveness for the sexual abuse crisis, which also has damaged trust in the Roman Catholic Church in countries from the United States to Ireland to Germany, saying the church would do “everything possible” to prevent priests from abusing children.
In Belgium, hundreds of victims came forward after the Bishop of Bruges, Roger Vangheluwe, resigned after admitting that he had sexually abused a boy earlier in his career. Victims contacted an independent commission, established by the church in 2000 and revitalized earlier this year as allegations of abuse began to spread around Europe. In addition to the raid in Mechelen, the Belgian authorities also searched the offices in Leuven of the independent commission.
The cases have added resonance in this country because of widespread memories of the notorious Belgian pedophile Marc Dutroux, who was convicted six years ago of child murder, kidnap and rape.

does this give us any insight into the elite ones of the earth?
considering, this religion is lead by the spirit?
why isn't there more of a mixture for the governing body?.
Isn't that the strangest thing - Jesus started his congregation in the Middle East. It then spread to Europe and Africa. You would expect the "restoration" to come from the region where it started. Isn't it rather odd that Jesus would select a Mason in the United States to start a modern version of his congregation - right?
Just think - would Muslims accept a "restoration" of their religion from a guy in the United States and accept his religious authority? There are hundreds of millions of Muslims throughout the earth, but they view the Middle East as the spiritual center of their faith.
Millions of JW's worldwide just accept that a group of mostly white Euro-American senior citizens have the authority to dictate every aspect of their lives - even in things that involve real life-death decisions.
i cannot understand how the news media makes a huge deal about one sexual offender census worker going door-to-door, but ignores that the wtbs permits sexual offenders to go door-to-door.
the wtbs claims that they cannot prevent a "christian" sexual offender in the congregation from going door-to-door since that is part of "true" worship.
they care more about keeping dangerous predators out in field service than protecting innocent children and others.

After two cases of alleged criminals going door-to-door to take surveys, Alabama Sen. Richard Shelby said Monday that the U.S. Census Bureau must do more to prevent hiring census takers with a criminal background.
After two cases of alleged criminals going door-to-door to take surveys, Alabama Sen. Richard Shelby said Monday that the U.S. Census Bureau must do more to prevent hiring census takers with a criminal background.
In a letter to Commerce Secretary Gary Locke sent Monday, Shelby wrote that when he asked Locke during a Senate hearing last year about guidelines to disqualify applicants, including sex offenders and people who've committed crimes against children, he was told the measures would ensure "each applicant is an acceptable risk to collect census information from residents of a community as a representative of our government."
"It is inconceivable that the Census Bureau could be so poorly managed as to hire a convicted sex offender to go door-to-door to collect personal information," Shelby said. "Clearly, Mr. Secretary, your guidelines are not working."
The letter followed news last week that a sex offender in New Jersey had spent two weeks in May interviewing residents while carrying around an official Census badge, bag and list of residents who hadn't returned their surveys.
Frank Kuni reportedly had used fake documents under the name Jamie Shephard to pass an initial name check and receive four days of training.
But an alert resident recognized the 47-year-old from the state's Internet sex offender registry.
Kuni, who was charged with using a fraudulent document to get government ID, was fingerprinted during his first day of training but when Census officials learned on the last day of training that Kuni had been flagged for a previous arrest, he was already out the door with his assignment, Fernando E. Armstrong, director of the U.S. Census Bureau's Philadelphia region, told the Courier News .
He was arrested four days later.
"From our perspective, the process that was put in place and has been used across the country worked in this case," Armstrong told the newspaper, acknowledging that an earlier return of the background check would've prevented Kuni from reaching the street.
In a separate case in Indiana, a volunteer census worker named Daniel Miller allegedly raped and beat a 21-year-old physically handicapped woman after returning to her home in the middle of the night following an interview earlier in the day.
Shelby said that during the 2000 Census, one in four of the 930,000 applicants for the temporary jobs were flagged by the FBI and prevented from working.
"The Census Bureau spent $2.5 million on a Super Bowl advertisement to encourage participation in the Census and has gone to great lengths to assure Americans that they should open their doors to Census workers. The lack of adequate oversight is unacceptable," Shelby wrote.
"What is even more objectionable is that it does not appear from public statements on the incident that the Census Bureau admits fault or even acknowledges that their screening procedures are not working," he wrote.
witnesses are supposed to be "exemplary" and not like the "world".
yet some jws are pretty notorious.. did you know of any jws that did some real bad things?.
i knew a pious witness who got caught twice trying to solicit prostitutes.
A sister got her boyfriend to murder her husband. Poor hubby was killed for not wanting to grant her a divorce. The husband listened to the advice of the elders and kept insisting that he and wife should work it out. So instead of divorcing his cheating wife he lost his life.
