gays in your congregation...?
by Albert Einstein inaccording statistics, there should be in every congregation about 4 gays.. my experience is, that some decided to live a "normal" life and get married and you hardly noticed them.. but there are some types, who, from how they speak and behave, are absolutely obvious gays.
did you have them in your congo?
how did your congregation treat them?.

Elder in our cong died of AIDS. They tried to cover it up and say he had an unknown cancer (unknown cancer?! WTF) but it was acknowledged he was as gay as they come and everyone was trying to figure out how an elder, unmarried, could get AIDS. (connect the dots people)
AIDS was in it's infancy and this guy had a *roommate*, male, about 20 years younger. He, mysteriously, was not a JW. Just like you said, the single sisters were after him, young and old. He was about 38 when he died.
He was so obviously gay you wondered why they would bother, but, I have a cousin who is so obviously gay I wonder how any guy would go after her. She ended up pregnant. (She tried to go the guy direction to please her parents (JWs) and ended up knocked up)
There were a couple of others, but this guy, John, stands out because he was beloved by everyone. He was just so popular. Then he shrivled up and died within a period of about 6 months.
Odd thing, when I have discussed this *Gay* issued with my JW relatives and how they resolve this as JWs, the explanation is that as long as someone is not a "Practicing Homosexual" Jehovah is fine with it.
Huh? Practicing Homosexual?
I asked my mom about my cousin who has a girlfriend, who is obviously "Practicing" and she said she wouldn't discuss it. It was none of her business. My cousin is at her house (mom) a couple of times a week.
As long as my mom doesn't see Cousin and Gal Pal lip locking she's OK with it I guess. Cie la vie.

The ones I have known are less honest than most worldlies I've known.
As WuzluvsDubs pointed out when they DO do the right thing they point out that they are doing it "for Jehovah". GAG.
I know a couple of them who would steal a dime from you if they think you are not looking. Others lie about everything.
This kind of stuff makes me wonder how they believe that Jehovah isn't seeing what they are doing and saying and how they actually believe that *they* will make it to they New System. Complete, utter, idiots.

Two by two going to a funeral!!
by alanv ini'm sitting at home watching cricket on the box( i know that's sad) and look out of the window and who do i see but two sets of people walking down the street calling on peoples houses.
yes jehovah's witnesses.. the weird thing is that they are walking even slower than people in a funeral march.
they look just as unhappy as if someone has just died.. also why do they go house to house in twos.

Witnesses to the witness.
You need proof you went out in Service. And, you need a Witness that you actually told them about the Troof and didn't talk about last night sports game or American Idol (Britians Got Talent).
I think in most areas security is the last issue. Considering one person could go to each home and overlap each other. Keeping an eye out for the other. No, I think it is to prove that they were actually talking about Jah and not Joe the Plumber.
Me, I usually didn't push the door bell if I saw my partner look away for a moment. I would lightly knock on the door, hoping no one would answer. Given the chance to be alone I would have sat in my car and *witnessed* to the steering wheel.

Interesting! Glad you made it out of the communist country and the dubs.
Mrs. Fiorini said what I was going to: The comparison to the JWs is startling.

Forced chemo, parental rights, and religious freedom
by dinah inthis case just bothers me.. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/ap_on_he_me/us_med_forced_chemo.
yes, i understand parents are responsible for their children and i dont want anyone stepping in to take control of mine but when your views of life are clouded by religious crap......... the mother says her child is not in immediate danger from cancer?
misplaced faith if you ask me.

Sorry I couldn't respond last night.
A religion forbiding any type of treatment is nutz, isn't it?
But, I don't like the government and especially activist Judges telling a parent what they should do. It is such a slipperly slope.
These parents really do sound worse than the average JW parent IMO.
As for vaccinations: I had to prove I had a mumps, measles and rubella vaccination to go back to college. I had no proof from when I was a kid and had to go to the primary care doc and get stuck with the stuff to prove I was still immune. Crazy. I'm over.....the age of consent.

Awake 1973 ="Chess causes family fights and is a game of War not for Witnesses!!"
by Witness 007 inmost brothers are shocked when i tell them chess is banned because it's un-wholesome!.
awake 1973 3/22 p.12 ..."the spirit of competition between players can lead to unpleasant circumstances...most families manage to keep the conflicts that arise in a game to the chess board.
but, in some homes tensions linger long past "checkmate.

From what I understand you can refuse vaccinations on the grounds of autisim. This is gaining ground all over the US. Hollywood is behind it big time. So is Oprah, isn't she?
Gotta run...
