How Did You Deal With Weirdo JWs?
by minimus inlet's face it, some witnesses are weirder than others.
we had one certain mama's boy who made sure he was dressed up properly, especially in the winter.
she'd make sure he had his "rubbers", scarf, hat and gloves.

Of all known religious beliefs which one seems most reasonable?
by The Berean inbuddhism would be my choice ....

I think Buddhism is interesting – I don't subscribe to it, because I like having desire as a motivation - but it's pretty peaceful and not nearly as obnoxious as most other religions. I have a little golden Buddha on my desk.
If you're going to believe in a deity, Deism makes the most sense. There's no way a God who is all-powerful and omniscient and benevolent could have created this world, much less preside over it.
Atheism isn't generally useful. Civilizations need myths, not facts.
Only if you want a dumbed down civilization whose growth is severely retarded. Myths are quite useful, as long as you recognize them as myths. Religions want their myths regarded as facts, which causes a plethora of problems. -

JW Board Game?
by veen ini seem to remember a board game in my youth that was in some way endorsed by the jw powers that be.
there were shekel's involved etc.
any idea's what this was?.

I recall one parent who took The Game Of Life, covered every square of the board with hand lettered JW nonsense, and called it The Game of Theocratic Life. The original was lame enough.
I showed it to my friend and he thought it was funny but the game was unplayable.
That's because every few years the rules changed. -

Did anyone in your congregation have "perfume allergies"?
by BonaFide inover the years, in the congregations i have been in, there have been 4 different people with "perfume or cologne allergies.
anyway, they would always sit in the library, and at the bookstudy some years ago one sister would sit outside and comment through the window!
another sister would sometimes wear a white "surgical" mask in the hall.. the congregation i am attending now has a sister like that.

I listened to some thing on NPR the other day about "afflictions" such as those. They affect middle class, middle aged white women significantly more than any other group. This particular group seems to need some type of drama in their life, so it seemed from what the guest speaker had to say on NPR. Not a ton of money to do the activities that they really want to do and not poor enough to not have time for fakey illnesses (middle class); it seems to be less-than-fufilled, middle aged women that get these afflictions.
It's called Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, and is an entirely imaginary disease.

My favorite hypochondriac story comes from an MCS "sufferer" who always gets her "illness" in any conversation by the second paragraph. She told me that when the dentist told her she had gingivitis, she flossed so much she got carpal tunnel syndrome.
I would very much like to be gracious and say I hope you never develop the "rot" of environmental sensitivities.
You mean the rot of extreme hypochondria?
But with your attitude I think it would be very good for you. You may develop some human feeling, perhaps even a little empathy for people who suffer as do those with environmental sensivities.
Every once in a while a some group of "sensitives" stumbles on that article of mine and I get a rash of e-mails that say the exact same thing. Do you all use the same template?
I was allergic to the old JW women who bathed in lavendar perfume..The upside was,it kept away flys and mosquito`s..
Isn't it nice that Walmart carries it in the handy, economical one gallon size. -

Who has a blog?
by DT ini've noticed a lot of xjw blogs popping up lately.
i think that is great.
blogging could be the next big phase in combating the influence and propaganda of the watchtower society.

"Is there any advantage of a blog over a website? Doesn't a website ensure greater hits on searching?"
I have both. Websites tend to be more stable, so grow more links over time and get great search engine rankings, but updating them is more time consuming.
Blogs can be set up quickly and easily added to and modified. And they can get good search engine rankings too – depending on a lot of factors, the most important being how many people link to you (and what their SE ranking is).
*Is there a good explanation out there as to how to increase traffic and search engine hits?
Probably only twelve or fifteen million sites. Start with Search Engine Watch.
Here's my blog: http://www.davehitt.com/blog2/
And here's a site that's not really intended as a blog, but uses Wordpress: http://www.bloodwitness.com -

Pitbulls- advice anyone?
by Kudra inmy husband just rescued a pitbull-mix puppy from living neglected under a hole in the stairwell of an apartment across the parking lot from his place.
she had no tags and was unleashed- free-ranging in the parking lot.. i was sceptical at first as i have heard that pit bulls are very dog agressive.
when i aked our vet about it (i have a black lab mix, 1.5 yrs, as well) she said that all the folks at that vet owned pits and as long as the puppy is well socialized and rained well she will be fine.. the puppy, butters, is already a little agressive- she fights to get her food before it is on the floor and she has growled at another big pit bull at petsmart when my husband took her there.. butters will be flying here (tucson) this evening.

JWs & Atheists - Great (Cultic) Minds Think Alike
by Perry injws & atheists - great (cultic) minds think alike.
in the jehovahs witness religion, there is a ceremony known in those circles as the memorial of christs death, or just the memorial for short.
it is claimed and believed among members that jehovahs witnesses observe the exact same ceremony that is more widely known as the lords supper among christians.

A major theme in atheist thought is that the general population (99.3%) simply misunderstands them
You're managing to pack a huge amount of stupidity in just a few words. The first time you posted that ridiculous number we could have written it off to ignorance, but now that you've been corrected and keep repeating it, stupidity is the only possible explination.
And, as also has been explained to you, there is but one theme in atheist thought – there is not sky daddy. That's it. No other dogma, no other fundamentals, no nothin'.
The only thing more boring than a dictionary argument is a dictionary argument by someone who doesn't understand basic definitions.
Where do I begin?
I would suggest by selling everything you own and using the proceeds to buy a clue.
Tuesday, I am teaching a class right now on Bible Cults as a matter of fact.
Make sure you cover Fundamentalism.
C'mon, I've answered alot of questions.
No, actually, you haven't. How about you tackle an easy one – prove, using logic and reason (not your genocidal holy book) that the universe wasn't created by the FSM.
Won't anyone please describe the goodness of it?Percent of atheists in the general population: 10-15.
Percent of atheists in prison populations: .02
