I've read one of Rhodes' books. He is better at using his noggin than other writers, but he tends to follow traditional views, despite leaps in logic and common sense *shrug*
Interesting read though:

bible and tract society of new york, inc. .
I really wish that I could find out what an official response from the society is to an honest elder with inquiries such as the one you've brought up here ISP. I wonder if they would get a scriptural reason for the policies, or a scriptural condemnation for questioning headquarters.

That's why Malcolm X used to call us honkies "white devils".
Just remember, YOU didn't invent our society, so don't beat yourself up over it. One convienence of the USA is the freedom to NOT repeat the mistakes of our slave-owning forefathers (sp?).

more interesting stuff...
Wedding RingsIt is unknown when wedding rings were first worn. They were probably made of a strong metal, like iron so that it wouldn’t break easily which would have been a very bad omen. The ancient Romans believed that the vein in the third finger ran directly to the heart, so wearing the ring on that finger joined the couples hearts and destiny.
