I have said it on other threads, but I wonder what intelligent person in the org. still believes this. It is clearly a false teaching!!!

What was your initial reaction to finding out the religion is a cult?
by make yourself inmine was filled with shock and anger but mostly anger.
it made me feel that way because i have never been lied to like that growing up in the religion with it being all you know.

When the generation teaching changed in 1995, that the the red light that made me question everything. Of course I wondered, What else is a lie? They I could see that everything was subjective.
In reality, it was just a semantics thing for me; I mean really, what is a cult? All religion has falsehoods, deceptions and lies. The dubs are no different. Spirituality is a few levels above religionist. Most J-Dubs have no idea what a relationship with God is or real spirituality.

CO visit provides preview of April generation change!
by agent zero ini thought the april wt's brazen generation doctrine change would barely get an official mention before nor after the two paragraphs that deal with it, but yesterday i went to the circuit overseer's visit and in a talk from a bethel outline, he specifically mentioned the change, and i quote... "the very very very newest information we have available, from the april 15th 2010 watchtower!
" ..reads the infamous paragraphs.. and then, "isn't that wonderful brothers and sisters?
so now we understand that it means that brother russell's life overlapped with brother rutherford's who's life overlapped (he went through them all), so clearly, this means the end is near.".

I wonder if they will pass out free breverages at the meeting for the April 15th, WT. This is really incredible. What thinking or intelligent person can actually believe this? The average JW will not be aware of this for another 5 years (or 3+ changes).

The thought of 70-80 years was very pratical and valid....I believed it. The end is sooo close because some old bastard is now 86 (he was 10 in 1914). When this timeframe expired, they should have admited ignorance instead of constantly changing.
This teaching has made me lose all confidence in the "Gods in Brooklyn" (or is it upstate NY)
I wounder if anyone in the org. understands or believes this.

Wow. I have given up!!!.....This teaching should just be the unfinished mystery.
If taken to the public during the time of a controversy (transfusion case), this teaching alone would be the downfall of the entire organization. It's kinda like the priest scandal, there is no valid explanation or excuse. It's is JUST WRONG!!

Many assemblies; circuit and district. I was a High school pioneer, so there was always an experience to embellish upon and share with the fellow J-Dubs!!!

Turning in time?
by crazy2try ini have a problem.
my hubby and i are tying to fade out completely, but we ran into a snag.
my in-laws showed up with a stack of time slips and said that they will turn them in for us if we fill them out.
-
SouthCentral
The choice is obviously yours. One option is to not turn in the slips and say that you did not talk about God to anyone or just put 5-7 hours on each slip and more on.
\I turned in time for several years, but did not go to a meeting. I was recently told that I could NOT turn in time unless I went to the hall, per the Circuit Overseer.

I tried to fade and was very effective for a while. I turned in time every month for years until I was told that I could not anymore unless I came to the hall. I had recieved about 2 visits per year from the elders. They invited me to go back recently.
I sat on the front row, quoted scriptures and commented 3 times. They have not bothered me for a while since. The first thought is that you are engaging in immorrality or that you are ashamed. I have no shame, it's just a religion. When they see that that's not the case, they are kinda dumbfounded.
I really have no desire to turn in time again, but I will attend periodically because it is obviously a family thing. Social activities for the children and parties for my wife.
Also, I have invested many, many billions in a bank account, why let the WT take away my investment (friends, family ect...)
I feel all religions are imperfect, the J-Dubs are no different. Catholics justify bad preiest, mormons have slaughtered others, there are doctrinal errors everywhere....

The trouble with fading as your leaving strategy
by eyesthatsee inwhatever your chosen strategy for leaving jws, the fundamental truth is that there is no clean / simple exit.
the mind control, the manipulation of normal family relationships etc will make any strategy very difficult at times.
the key issue is to know this ahead of time and be prepared, as best you can.. we've all chosen leaving strategies acording to our personal circumstances, preferences and learning from others.

Oh yeah, I quotes scriptures and references in the publications as well. Thanks for keeping me updated everyone!! After serving as an elder and pioneer, some things never change. They just get darker!!!

I had a perfect fade!!! I had turned in time for years until the CO said that I could not turn in time unless I came to the meetings. I had always allowed the elders to come over as well. I was almost invisible, until I was OFICIALLY Inactive, after not turning in time. This despite never going to the hall in 4 or 5 years....
