Time of The END ????

a number of religions ,not just the wacky dubs, claim we are in the "time of the end ".

now, leaving out silly numbers and 1914, which was blown away years ago, what do such apocalyptic doom-mongerers have from scripture to give this idea credence ?.

the only thing i can think of , apart from the "cry of peace and security " which is no proof at all, is daniels dream image in dan chap.

all of you have seen the fact that several generations of worshippers (from Russell until today) have had several approachings on Bible prophecies included the chronologies ,and all are being proven wrong

who can tell , what is the "common thing" of these interpretations ?

Faithful and Discreet Slave

i'm sure that this has been discussed before, but bear with me while i share my little insight.. the scripture about the fds is found in jesus description of the last days in matthew 24. not in mark 13, nor luke 21. those other writers didn't consider it important enough to include it in their writings.

it is the only mention, as far as i know, of any such "arrangement," yet on face value, if you are just reading the bible, it seems more like one of jesus' thought-provoking rhetorical questions, rather than a part of the sign of the last days.

no "two or three witnesses," yet this one scripture has become a rallying cry for a whole religion, consisting of millions of adherents!.

even as a loyal jw i though thought our singing was pretty crap.

now, i sometimes catch a religious service on the radio and cannot help thinking how much better 'worldly' churches are in their approach to the use of music in their worship.

personally, if i were going to choose a religion based on music, i'd have to join a church with a gospel choir; i just love the warmth and enthusiasm of gospel music.. .

would you say that's the beginning of the end?

hubby's researching if the beginning date can be proven from the bible its starting date is 607. clearly, he won't find the answer.... here's hoping he will see the light... .

i remember growing up as a dub that everyone was constantly on the look out for what could be the cry of peace and security... then suddenly people just stopped, it stopped being mentioned in talks ... everything.

theories please?.

indeed the fruits means the teachings, or God's words ,

or, the way these "prophets" speak in the name of the Lord.

why ?

because Jesus commanded to his true followers

"What I tell you in the darkness, speak ye in the light; and what ye hear in the ear, proclaim upon the house-tops."

and also Peter has told to the "sheperds" 1 Peter 4:

11. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. NIV

both "speaking the very words of God" and obeying them means "worshiping God"

by speaking incorectly "the very words of God" will result in disobeying "the very words of God"
