Well, there's hockey, then hockey, then hockey then pretty much anything having to do with the Olympics. And don't even get me started on NASCAR. . .

Sports That Do Not Interest You
by minimus inone sport that i think is lame is pro hockey.
it's the only sport where players are expected to beat the crap out of each other.
it's not as much about scoring but how many punches were thrown!

Has anyone knocked on your door recently?
by dysfunction ini am a housewife, and no one has knocked on my door to spread the "truth",not even on the weekends.
question, has anyone experienced this... or has the preaching work slowed down?
or are the witnesses less active, zealous?.

I had someone leave me a Memorial invite a few years ago. I was home, and nobody even knocked, I found it tucked under my mat when I went to take the garbage out. A few days ago I had my first "live" JW's in the 5 years we've lived here. I told them very politely that I was a former JW and had no interest in ever going back, and they couldn't run away fast enough.

Pioneers studying with people in the nursing homes.
by life is to short inis this a trend that is going on.
i live on the west coast and the po's or cobe's wife has at least one study if not more with a old lady who is totally mentally gone.
she has no clue what is going on.

This was totally "the thing" when I was pioneering about 20 years ago. Our congregation had 18 pioneers and only a few of them (me being one of them) didn't have at least one study with at least one completely batty old lady. Back then I was really gung ho and dedicated, but there was no way I could, in good conscience, count time with somebody who obviously had no idea what was going on.

If George Lucas actually made Episode 1 first instead of Episode 4, there would have been no such thing as Episodes 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. Not only do I hate the prequels with a passion, I'm mad at him for going back and doing stupid edits on the original three movies.

Do you dress your pets?
by Snoozy inas a child i had many cats and delighted in putting my doll clothes on them and rocking them in the rocking chair..i would even make a tent on my mom's bed and put them in it like they were in a cave..i had a great imigination... they would tolerate it for a while and then decide the fun was over..picky cats.... so if you have animals do you dress them up now?
or did you or your kids dress them up?
they looked so cute!.

I do but I hate it. I'm a small-breed that has to be kept warm in the cold dog owner. Plus, she was a rescue, and has been severely burned, and will never grow hair on over 25% of her body. I let the kids pick out one of her outfits, and it is just insane amounts of God-awful fu-fu.

I might fall over from shock, as the only JW activity I've seen around here is about 2 Memorials ago, someone left a tract inviting me on my door mat. (It must have been a drop and run, as I never heard them knock and ring, and was obviously home.)
Anyone coming here would be in for a nasty surprise. MIL will be here, and she doesn't take too kindly to Witnesses. She never had any at her door until she retired. I guess the unfortunate ones who rang the bell were treated to MIL telling them to get off her property, as MIL's grandmother was a JW (converted after a young marriage, and the only one in the family) and wanted to know why the grandmother refered to Witnesses as "the friends" and even though she (grandmother) showed up for every meeting and went in service at least twice a week for 60-something years, she didn't even have one "friend" show up to the funeral the family had when she died. After they left, MIL ran to her neighbor's house they were going to next, and entered in the back door, and answered the door again, and then went to the next neighbor's house and answered the door a 3rd time. By the 3rd house, they asked if she was going to be at every door, and she told them no, she was just going to her close friends' houses to warn them about the JW's, and told the JW's never to come to those 3 houses again. Which they did, and she did the same thing, and now nobody has come back for over 10 years.

Anyone here ever live in Southern Oregon?
by Mrs. Peck injust wondering.......it was a pretty miserable place........especially a small town that starts with a g................

Yes, I did for about 4 years. Then we moved back to civilization slightly over 4 years ago. Miserable, hot, boring place, but I loved my friends there. I wasn't a JW when I lived there, though, I can only imagine how awful that would be.

Did you know: Chuck T. Russell was born "justified".
by Nathan Natas in"in re: justification; we believe that quite a good many christians were born in a justified condition, and that the sentiments of their hearts always were for righteousness, and that therefore they cannot accuse themselves of having sinned willfully, nor feel such great contrition as those who have been living in sin - in alienation from god.
they are already the lord's, and for them to be converted (turned round) would mean to turn away from the lord.

Such a small amount out there. Makes me laugh that they cancelled school today. They must have all wanted to start Thanksgiving break early. I guess the kids and I will be baking today. That way we can have yummy food and keep the house warm at the same time.

POLL: Can you turn your mind off?
by Lady Lee inok ladies you know how this goes.
you ask your man, "what are you thinking about?
now i have had more than one man tell me this.
-
Ilovebirthdays
I'm not able to turn it off. I am able to think about something else, and tune back in (with a slight delay) and respond to the important stuff going on around me/or when someone starts talking to me and I need to respond.
Can you tell I'm an ex-JW who has small children?
