When combined with the tremulous singing at my KH the result was preposterous. I have heard gregorian chant with more life in it. I must admit some of the tunes were OK but sounded like hymns or modern songs adopted. The lyrics at the time made me curl up - looking back I find them positively embarrassing. :) No piano for us - the "sound brother" used to spend ages lining up the track on a record player like he was some kind of DJ.

First Century Jehovah's Witnesses
by cameo-d inwhat proof does wt cite that the formation of jw movement began in "first century"?.
did the grassroots originate before jesus came on the scene?
or was it during the time of his ministry?

Interestingly the Catholic church make the same claims. Plus they have far nice outfits in church, incense, better songs, confession so you don't have to keep a list of sins til you die and a regular opportunity to worship a piece of bread in a frame. You can also get some of the benefits of being a JW too like child abuse and suppression of same - all at no extra cost.

The Trinity didn't come about after jesus' time nor the idea divinity of Christ/son of God idea. It was a key part of many religions milennia before christianity.

I really like America and Americans generally. I have usually found the people to be a lot friendlier than in the UK, service is loads better on the whole, it's easier to get around and relatively inexpensive compared to the UK. On top of that it has a fabulous range of climates and landscapes. I could definitely live in America.
I certainly am not put off it by the WTS any more than I wouldn't like Italy because of the Catholic church.

by geevee ini have been asked about a situation in which a former witnesses ladies now ex-husband has been caught exposing himself, and this has gone on for at least 15 years.
he has also exposed himself to some close family members.
the question relates to the wt explaination of "porniea".

Interestingly in most countries this could result in a criminal conviction and in the UK would require the person to sign the Sex Offender register. They also have to notify the Police is they move. That must surely be a problem for a dub? LOL

Hi Geevee.
I guess whether she will be able to keep contact will depend on why the JWs think she lost contact with them. If she is DFd or DAd then I guess the only way to be sure is to get reinstated. If she doesn't then strictly I suppose she will be shunned. It seems to me that the non-contact element varies from cong to cong. A friend of mine who DAs manyyears ago still chats to JWs who work in the local shops when they cross paths.
If the suggestion is that she left the JWs because her hubbie was up to no good then I presume she is saying that she still accepts their teachings and I wonder why she isn't getting reinstated? If she doesn't accept their teachings and wants to get reinstated so that she can maintain contact with family and friends I guess I can understand that, though personally I think it's a waste of energy and potentially damaging to her self-esteem.
It's probably me being dumb but I am not sure how proving porneia will help her at all if she wants to stay out of the dubs but maintain contact.

I was raised by Witness parents. When I was 12, my mother informed me that my protection under family merit had expired and that god would murder me unless I went to a Jehovah's Witness convention and took a bath in public
I know it's serious but man that's the funniest thing I have read in a while.
