I committed un-suicide in March of 2009...I bought a new wallet and was cleaning out my old one on a bench at the mall and I came across the "Let Me Die" card. So I tore that shit up, threw it in the trash, and even when I went back to the org for a little bit (just to make SURE I was making the right decision), I never asked for another one. The blood doctrine was one I never wholeheartedly believed in. I'm not about to die just because some old farts behind the curtain in Brooklyn say I should.

I committed un-suicide yesterday
by AlmightyDog inyesterday i opened my wallet and took a long look at the (no) blood card prominently displayed inside.
i have been convinced that this is not the truth for a couple of years now, and am trying to figure out whether to fade or da.
it hit me hard yesterday that with this piece of paper in my wallet, i could possibly end up dying for beliefs i no longer hold.

Responding to Child Custody Case booklet in Court
by Dogpatch inthis can be used to show that they are normal.
educational value of social contact; learn how to meet people, strike up a conversation and reason on a variety of topics.
does church teach that young people should learn only about religion of jehovah's witnesses?(no.

THANK YOU FOR THIS!!! I was looking for something along these lines! I have the custody packet and needed a concise refutation...
I wonder if the mere EXISTENCE of this booklet, along with the WTBS quotes that show the manipulation, would in itself be strong evidence in court?
Love the little "sales pitch" at the end. EVERYTHING becomes a literature placement demonstration, apparently...

by Mad Sweeney inif you're still in for the sake of others, how's it going?
what specific plan are you working on to get your loved ones out so you can leave, too?
how is that plan progressing?

I haven't been to a meeting in about 8 months. FS even longer. I began fading in March of last year, skipped every other Sunday. Then I started skipping every Sunday...followed by fazing out the TMS & SM. I think the last time I went out in FS was when they were doing the Memorial "campaign" last year. I attended the Memorial and what a doozy that was...long story short, an elder pissed me off by telling me we couldn't enter the theater before half hour prior to the Memorial, yet they wanted my dad and other elders and MS inside and were making their families wait OUTSIDE after we all walked about 4 city blocks to the theater. They wanted us all to go back to the cars! I kind of made a fuss and loudly asked "What are they doing in there that's so SECRET that we can't sit in the theater? This is stupid!"... about 5 mins later, we were approached by the elder and he apologized and welcomed us in.
I will not be attending this year. There is zero reason to do so. I don't believe in it, I don't want to waste a night of time that I could spend talking to my BF for hours and enjoying real freedom. Once I move out of the area this summer, my fade will be complete.

*Sigh* I can't remember the last time I had real romance...hey wait...NEVER!!
A snuggle, some kind words, affection, touches and caresses that don't have to lead anywhere...just being together and enjoying each other's company. I know I WILL have that, but damn if I don't wish I had it now!

Daniel,
Minus the health issue, this is pretty much what my experience was with my ex husband. I don't wanna put it all out here on the public forum, but if you'd like some words from someone who has been there, please send me a PM.
My thoughts are with you and your family.

Elders & Bankruptcy
by krismalone ini found an interesting post about an elder who has a warrant for his arrest & filed for bankruptcy & owes over 30 creditors money.. what is the society's stand on that matter?.

I know of a "brother" who imbezzled money from his company and skipped town for months, leaving behind his family. This was his SECOND time doing something like this. All he got was a public reproof and a welcome back with open arms. His extended family had many MANY elders in it. Gotta love JW justice.

What attention needs to be given to the equipment we use in the witness work? KM 95/3 question box
by fadinfast in1 although having an appropriate scriptural presentation in mind, a publisher of the good news might be unprepared when it comes to the equipment he uses.
when at the door, he may not have the current literature offer.
[ make sure you buy your obligatory mags before you leave the kingdom hall] the magazines, brochures, and tracts in his witnessing case may be wrinkled or tattered.

LMAO they're actually printing this AGAIN?? I can't count how many times I've had to sit through study articles like this. How many JW's are running around with tattered bookbags and worn out Bibles and 3-year-old back-issues, anyway??
I loved your little peanut gallery comments, tho!

Absolutely. At least "worldly" people have something to show for their stress and can sit back and enjoy their time off. Most live for the weekend when they can engage in recreations, relaxation, kicking back with a few brews, getting together with friends, etc. They work for what they have materially. They feel no guilt springing for that plasma screen because they EARNED IT and it's part of their relaxation and seeing good for all their hard work.
JW's are guilted into doing MORE in their spare time. Time that could be used for relaxation and winding down from the week's grind is spent out door-to-door working for free peddling literature that no one really wants. If their secular job affords them little luxuries, they are made to feel guilty for indulging their "materialistic" side. Heck, they're encouraged to work LESS secularly and MORE out peddling. But yet, it's never enough. Saturday morning is for Field Circus (if you're lucky enough to just get away with only the morning), Sunday is for the meeting and MORE Field Circus. Back to work Monday, study Monday night for Tuesday's TMS & Service Meeting and study EXTRA if you have a part. Tuesday evening is the meeting and if you are lucky to be in the right cliques, you may get invited out afterward for a bite to eat and a modest level if imbibing...unless someone in your group is an alcoholic, then you would have to stick with the virgin daquiri. But you're always "on" throughout...not daring to even relax enough to let your more mellow side show. Wednesday you MIGHT have off if it's not summertime and you haven't been guilted into "evening witnessing". At this point, you won't know what to do with yourself, so you may follow the Society's admonition and do some "personal study"...or you might indulge a guilty pleasure like "American Idol", but all the while you'll judge the participants on their revealing outfits or their obvious sexuality and feel just a bit superior, while at the same time feeling jealous that you cannot be where they are. Thursday night is Family Study night per the WBTS decree. So you'll drag your unwilling and mumbling children to the living room or kitchen table and try to force Johnny to read without sounding like he's bored (even though you know he is). Friday night you're too exhausted from the week to really do anything but sit on the sofa watching TV that you get through a digital converter box (because you can't afford cable and who wants it anyway since it's like putting a sewer pipe into your window?). So you'll sit there with your hand in your pants ala Al Bundy and fall asleep from sheer exhaustion.
And then it's Saturday again...
Is it any wonder the levels of mental illness and anxiety are SO HIGH for JW's? They never get to stop and smell the roses. Or plant the roses. They can have hobbies, but those hobbies can't crowd out "spiritual things". So, tell me, when "spiritual things" take up 99% of the time that's left over after working, what do you do with that 1%? Hell, I'd sleep! Forget hobbies...who has time for that??

Jehovah's Witnesses Are NOT Under Mind Control
by PublishingCult inhow would you respond to the assertion that 7.2 million members of the jehovah's witness religion are not under any sort of mind control?.
the argument being that every one is responsible for their own actions and cannot blame the indoctrinator for what he says and does.
how could they possibly be under mind control?.
