I agree with Wobble that Paul's writings need to be taken in context.
Perhaps the budding Christiain congregation needed BOTH personalities : Jesus' loving and kind manner and Paul's organizational and leadership skills.

Was the Apostle Paul the Rutherford of his day?
by nugget ini was doing reseaerch on early days of the society and remembered a radio programme about the apostle paul from earlier in the year.
the gist of the programme was that paul had remodeled the early christians in his image and that many of the restrictions and edicts from that time had little to do with jesus earlier teaching.
for example the vilification of homosexuals and the denegration of women.. this made me think about how rutherford changed the early bible students and added restrictions to them as well trying to remodel the organisation into something he could control.. jesus spent time teaching about the kingdom, preaching the need for love, forgiveness and acceptance.

Do you shred paperwork before you throw it out?

personally, no banking or credit card stuff goes into the trash.

Toxic Parents Toxic Religion
by Lady Lee inin the book toxic parents, by susan forward she discusses the issue of parenting and just what the term toxic parents means.
on pages 6-9 of the book she talks a bit about abuse and then has a short quiz which i will post.. .
what i would like to try is to see how well the issue of toxic parents fits a toxic religion.

i openly professed anointing for 20-years of the 27-years i was associated with the watchtower.
since that time, i have totally and completely renounced all but one watchtower doctrine.

Honestly, Do You Judge Someone Because Of Their Color Or Nationality?
by minimus inone of the first baby dolls i gave my granddaughter was a cute little black baby doll.
she still has it in her car seat and if you try to take her doll from her she says, "my baby!!
" typically little children are color blind.

Maybe he was the victim of terrible predjudice in the past and was super-sensitive to it afterwards.
All I can say is that from what I knew of him, he was ODD in alot of ways. Odd people aren't that way because of skin color.
On the other hand, my best friend is from Ghana and I love her to bits! And the doc I work for is from Nigeria and is the best boss I've ever had!!

Ok, I will tell you about an elder we had. He was black, wife was white, 4 kids. His 2 daughters were stunningly gorgeous and my daughter was about 4 years old at the time we knew them.
My daughter used to say, "Mommy, when I grow up I hope I look like Rebecca." ( His older daughter. ) My daughter was also into Barbies at the time, and she wanted a Barbie that looked like Rebecca. I shopped all over town for a Barbie that looked like Rebecca (....couldn't find one, had to special order one in....decided to order the black Ken, as well....)
Well, one night after the bookstudy, my daughters black Barbies were sitting on the stairs and this elder HAD A FIT!!!!! He couldn't understand why I would let her have a black barbie doll, lectured me at great length about how PREDJUDICED I WAS!!!!!
My daughter also had a pet goldfish, one of the black bubble-eyed ones that she called "Blackie". He asked her one day what her fish's name was and when she told him, he HAD A FIT!!!! Why would we name a fish Blackie???? We were obviously predjudiced!!!! I tried to tell him they named a wolf White Fang and a horse Black Beauty and that it was my daughter's choice to name him that when she was 3 years old......
I came to the conclusion that this black man was WAAAAYYYYY more predjudiced than anybody I had ever met.

Just Thought I'd Share..
by AwSnap inwe have some close, non-jw extended family staying with us....they drove 700 miles to get here.
they will be here for a week....so far it's been about 5 days and my jw sibling has seen them for one hour.
my sibling has been doing field service, family study, there's a meeting tonight, and family worship night.
