Why is it so - is it a social virus - or a stop-gap for a certain need ?
by A Paduan inthe org advertises, recruits, controls and damages it's own hosts in a mission of self-replication - utilising bent speech and lies to exist in the lives of others - having no life of it's own, but rather, a design to use others, without a self-awareness - what is that?.

gays in your congregation...?
by Albert Einstein inaccording statistics, there should be in every congregation about 4 gays.. my experience is, that some decided to live a "normal" life and get married and you hardly noticed them.. but there are some types, who, from how they speak and behave, are absolutely obvious gays.
did you have them in your congo?
how did your congregation treat them?.

Plenty congregation in Melbourne recently had a local needs talk on homosexuality and sexually experimenting with members of the same sex. Same night 3 pioneers were removed and 2 other brothers reproved.
Every congo I have been in has had “sus” brothers...... “Not that there is anything wrong with it”.
My favourite was the Ned Flanders look alike who had a nice lisp and effeminate gestures to go with it!

WilltheTheoryStand?
Scientists take satisfaction in finding a theory that apparently brings many disparate kinds of information together into a unified picture. That is what they believe the tectonic-plate theory has done for the science of geology. But does that mean that it is therefore the final and correct answer? Not necessarily.
In spite of seeming wide-ranging successes of the theory, there are still many bits of information that do not fit into it. Geologists argue over the interpretation of details. As research continues, some of these questions may be answered in a way that harmonizes with the theory. On the other hand, there may remain stubborn facts that cannot be reconciled with it.
One major shortcoming is acknowledged in the present state of the theory. The forces that cause the upwelling magma along the ridges are not explained. Some geologists have been content with the general statement that convection currents inside the earth’s mantle are responsible. But what generates the convection, and why does its pattern change? When this idea is examined in detail, it breaks down. A convection current in air or water rises around a central axis, not in a long slender sheet that would form a ridge. It is even more difficult to imagine how the displacements along the transform faults can result from convection currents.
Professors Flint and Skinner of Yale University offer this word of caution in their book PhysicalGeology:
“The theory of plate tectonics seems to provide answers for so many questions that we are tempted to believe it is the long-sought unifying theory that explains the lithosphere [the land areas of the earth, from its surface to the center of the earth]. But we must be careful. Other theories, too, have seemed overwhelming in their promise, yet in the long run have proved incorrect. The theory of plate tectonics is still only a theory.”
Whether the tectonic-plate theory survives the test of time and proves correct or not, we have abundant evidence of the great power and wisdom of earth’s Creator.
Lots of blah blah blah, but they sit on the fence citing all the for’s and against, yet won’t give an answer until they receive the light!

Awake 1973 ="Chess causes family fights and is a game of War not for Witnesses!!"
by Witness 007 inmost brothers are shocked when i tell them chess is banned because it's un-wholesome!.
awake 1973 3/22 p.12 ..."the spirit of competition between players can lead to unpleasant circumstances...most families manage to keep the conflicts that arise in a game to the chess board.
but, in some homes tensions linger long past "checkmate.

I had to read the article myself on the CD to believe it, what a load of rot! Though good for a laugh on a Sunday meeting whilst wifey is at the meeting...
Though I do believe the best quote from that March awake on chess is:
Some chess players have recognized the harm that can result from playing the game. According to TheEncyclopædiaBritannica, the religious reformer "John Huss, . . . when in prison, deplored his having played at chess, whereby he had lost time and run the risk of being subject to violent passions."
What the hell?? Violent passions????? Please explain, is it just me, or if i play chess too much, I am opening the door to violent passions? What the hell are violent passions? Please dont tell me the article is talking about prison shower scenes?

Two by two going to a funeral!!
by alanv ini'm sitting at home watching cricket on the box( i know that's sad) and look out of the window and who do i see but two sets of people walking down the street calling on peoples houses.
yes jehovah's witnesses.. the weird thing is that they are walking even slower than people in a funeral march.
they look just as unhappy as if someone has just died.. also why do they go house to house in twos.

More importantly Alanv, which cricket match were you watching? Another England loss?? Or the 20/20 in Sth Africa? Bring on the Ashes later this year......
I would rather watch a 5 day test match washed out by the rain than go door to door

Is the number of elders/servants increasing or decreasing?
by Olin Moyles Ghost inover the last few years, i have noticed an increase in the number of pleas from the platform for brothers to "reach out" for "privileges of service.
" it has even been said that there are not enough elders and servants in the congregations.
this could be a local phenomenon, but i suspect it is more widespread.

My ex-cong has more ex elders and ms’s than current serving ones as well. The Australian KM has an article this month on “reaching out”.
I will never forget when we once had an elder give a local needs talk on “reaching out”. He had all the brothers over 18 put their hand up, then he said if you are an elder or an ms – put your hand down. He then said to all those with their hand still raised “this talk is for you, why are you not serving as an ms or elder?”
I felt like yelling out “because you are holding a grudge against me d*&^head.....”
A trend I have noticed here in Melbourne is that brothers are being appointed at a very young age (early to mid 20’s) whereas the norm was mostly mid 30’s.

Back around 1999, I attended the old Keon Park hall in Mahoney’s Road Reservoir (for all you locals). The hall was built on an easement that was prone to flooding every year or two, which meant the carpet was constantly being replaced by our insurance company.
Well we got approval for our brand new hall in Holt Parade Thomastown (again, for you locals) and 3 months before our quick build date, our old hall got completely flooded out. The local hall committee elders (3 congo’s shared the hall) in their wisdom took the insurance money that was given to replace the carpet and put it towards the new k/hall project! So for the next 4 months, we had to sit on bare concrete that was still musty and damp! Their words – “there is no point replacing carpet in a hall that we will not be using soon”. Never mind the health risks.
The hypocrites made the 3 congo’s put up with 3 rd world conditions so they could save a buck or two, how that glorified the house of God I will never know. All the parents with young children (who would normally sit on the floor) started murmuring about the stoopid decision and yes, were counselled for speaking out against an arrangement from Jehovah!
