i received a call a few hours ago from an elder.of course he didn't call me to ask how i was or if i needed help.instead he told me that "the youth and some older brothers" of my congregation will gather (at another elder's house,you see 2 elders to "get a hold of the situation") to talk about the "internet,facebook etc dangers".i told him that i will go.hmmm...it's going to be an interesting conversation..
Dude I wouldn't go if I were you. It's a set up. I bet that they get the young ones together, log onto Fb and then look at each and every one of your profiles and nitpick. Seriously, they may just do that and go through statuses and fotos etc and say 'that is inappropriate' or 'is that the way a christian should behave?' etc. Don't go. Save yourself the hassle. Better still, AGREE to go, then minutes before it's due to start, text someone saying you're sick in bed, or have had to rush out for whatever reason. Don't go!!!
i just answered the phone and it didn't phase me that caller id did not tell me who was calling.
well, it was an elder.... he wanted to know the usual interogation crap, where i've been, have i gone to the dc yet, when am i going, i will love it, etc, typical bullshit.
then he says, "i noticed you haven't turned in any time for last month, do you have any to report?
My elders only have my cell number, so if an unknown number comes in, I let it go to message. I figure whoever it is will leave a message if it's important. I think the CO has just been to our hall. I have never even met him! Shows how important I am to the congregation. Maybe they've written me off as a lost cause by now? Haven't been in the field for over 18mths and only 1 meeting this year. Never going back :)

this was on the news last night, it seems many people are having a hard time figuring out how to deal with it.. the man in the middle is a survivor of this camp, and he is surrounded by his children/grandschildren/great-grandchildren.
is this video an insult to the people who died at aushwitz, or a celebration that life went on for the survivors ??.
personally, i look at it 50 - 50, but a more time appropriate song might have been a more positive thing.
This made news here in Australia about a week or so ago and the public response was outrage. The survivor and his family live in Australia.
I personally think he earned the right to celebrate his life as he saw fit, but like guest with questions brings out, so many lost their lives there and to their families, this video might be disrespectful. I imagine what we didn't see on the video would've been lots of tears, hugging and remembering in a solemn, quiet way.

first off, i'm almost definite somebody else has already posted, asked this question, but i'm too lazy to look right now lol.... about half a year of contemplation, evaluation, and calculation has led up to making this decision, so here it is.. .
because of a multitude of circumstances, i don't believe fading will be an option as i originally thought, and i frankly refuse to waste any more years of my life trying to pretend to believe something i clearly do not, and preserve a connection to people who don't even have the decency to speak to me or befriend me as a fellow human being.
i am alienated as it is- i guess i'm just a weird and shy person, and that will not change anytime soon.. i plan to - in the coming months when the time is right - present a letter of disassociation from the congregation, and the watchtower society.. .
Apparently you can also be automatically DA'd if you openly celebrate holidays (Christmas esp.),join the military, or run publically for any public office ...even School board member !
Even as a school board member?!?! Really?? My mother and I were on the school board, had no idea that wasn't allowed.
my wife and i was talking about one of the talks that they had concerning marriage and how each spouse is suppose to put the other spouse first and that as long as both spouses did this, it would work out for the greater good of the marriage.. i agreed but added a point in that sometimes, either because of human frailties on the part of your spouse or some other reason, you spouse may not be fulfilling all your needs and sometimes you will just need to take care of your own needs.
i tried to emphasize that this did not mean placing your needs ahead of the marriage or family or even your spouses, but simply sometimes we need to take care of our own needs and not always expect the spouse to do it for us.. she did not like the 'tone' and 'attitude' of my remark and when i brought up an example, it really set her off.. the example had to do with birthdays.
since my wife is a witness, obviously she will not be throwing me a party, at least don't expect her too.
StAnn.....your husband and my ex could be brothers they are so alike! I have lost 4 babies due to similar circumstances. My then husband never worked, yet wouldn't help at home either and against Dr's advice, would never let me rest. It was like losing babies was nothing to him, and probably why after our 2nd child was born he immediately had a vasectomy .
I'd be interested to hear more about birthdays...and Job's kids....

i tried to keep it simple and not attack her personally as she has a heart of gold and has been a jw 40+ years.
She sounds like a sweetheart, so if I were you, I'd let her be. Some people are better left to what they are familiar with, what gives them hope and happiness and it seems as if for her that's the organisation, so if it were me, I'd let her be happy and content with her life.
Are you DF or just fading away? If DF, then I think she came across with love and concern for you, which is alot more than what some who are DF could ever hope for. If you're just fading, then she is probably keeping the lines of communication open in hopes you'll 'come to your senses'. Either way, I'd be inclined to just tell her you love her and let it be
this was posted in the men's room stall, i hear the instructions in the womens room was more detailed.. this was in addition to having a "bathroom attendant" handing out 1 paper towel per person.. i haven't felt so childish since i was in grade schooll, i had to wonder if all the tall people around me were really grown men and women.. .
They put paper on the mirrors? Omg! How rude and insensitive. I bet they didn't do it on the mens mirrors. I mean, sometimes we women like to check for stuff stuck in our teeth and not just how our hair looks! And seriously, the lines are only that long for women because we actually do take longer to pee than men. Plus we have to adjust ourselves, pantyhose, slips, petticoats etc not to mention if we have our period and have other business to attend to.
At every convention I've ever been to, most of the mens toilets are turned into womens...lol. Initially they're half and half but midway through the morning you see all the 'mens' signs change to 'womens'.... I could never be bothered lining up at the womens when it went out the door and around the corner, so would always find a disabled toilet and use that...hehe.
