I agree with every word of DJS's first 3 paragraphs. That is exactly where I am.

Can this logic be refuted?
by notsurewheretogo ini was an elder until march 2012 until i resigned.
i then stopped going to meetings in october 2012 and have enjoyed 9 months of freedom that i have found to be jouful!
i loved learning ttatt and sites like this and jwfacts.com have been excellent.. i told the elders that i needed a break and that they should not contact me unless it was a social visit and true to their word they have done that.

I'd be surprised if they even listened to you. All doubts and thoughtcrimes are handled like this:
1) It is God's organisation, Jehovah is using the FDS / Governing Body
Does this solve your doubt?
No?
then
2) Wait on Jehovah.
Does this solve your doubt?
No?
then
Go to 1)

I work in a large organisation. In my experience, cock ups and stupid policies come from fear of being sued, buck passing and ass covering.
Basically never ascribe evil when common ol' stupidity will do.

Is Buddhism a religion of love ...? ... (raucous laughter)
by fulltimestudent ini quote from a web-page devoted to the dalai lama:.
the heart of the buddhaforget all the fancy meditation practices, says his holiness the dalai lama, the real heart of buddhism is complete commitment to others.
in this commentary on the way of the bodhisattva, he describes the awakened heart of the buddha, which is his vow to attain enlightenment for the sake of all sentient beings.. - http://www.shambhalasun.com/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=27&itemid=161 .

Hi fulltimestudent - I do find the nature of Buddhism interesting.
The divide and rule strategy employed by many empires worked for a time, but yes, as soon as the empire loses control there is in built conflict, take the balkans for example.
Here's some apologies for you though.

Why do most on JWN not share Ray Franz' views on GB equals SANHEDRIN?
by Fernando ini was not surprised when i read this in coc, last week, as i had come to this view a number of years ago.. what seems surprising is that whilst many have read coc, few if any share this view.. are there any ideas why this might be?.

It seems there are several views on the organisation:
- It's God's Organisation,
- It's God's Organisation but has apostatised
- It's nothing to do with God
Ray seems to have ended up believing that Christians don't need an organisation to worship God. But he held to some witness beliefs quite strongly.
ISOCF is a good book for people who want to keep the witness religion but not stay in the organisation.
Basically Ray Franz left the organisation not the religion.
I think most waking up now, leave both.

How to act crazy enough not to have to go in FS or to meetings but not crazy enough to get committed to a mental health facility
by hoser ini was thinking if i acted a little off but not too far off the elders would tell me i'm not welcome in the door to door work.
i wonder if this would work.
there is a watchtower or awake article somewhere saying that a mentally ill person may be excused from the meetings and field service if his illness affected others.

All the genuinely mentally ill people in my old hall used to go in service. They were often the main supporters of the midweek service arrangements. Often they worked together. They placed a lot of magazines.

Friend gets "scriptural divorce" over wifes transgressions before they got married...
by sosoconfused inso i have a friend in a congregation in new jersey who recently called me to tell me that he got a divorce.
nothing surprising there at first but it is the fact of when it happened.
his wife began pioneering april 1, and after about three weeks she came to him and told him that about 4 years she had engaged in loose conduct (fondling the penis and the guy kissing her breasts) during a time that she was inactive.

Wow, if the society has gone from homosexual sex not being grounds for divorce (in the 70s) to a quick fumble BEFORE marriage being ok to divorce...
just wow.
