Oh boy, I spend ages locked in the loo at assemblies. I can't do the 'wasn't it a fine programme' charade anymore. Circuit assemblies are the worst. It's so suffocating, people you havent seen for 6 months wanting to update you on all their problems, challenges and persecutions. Maybe my circuit has more than its fair share of energy vampiers..., but I always leave a circuit assembly or 'special' day feeling completely drained. The best bit is the feeling of relief that it's over when I get to drive away.

whose hiding in the toilets at the kingdom hall?
by highdose inthis was a favorite way of getting away from the very unloving "loving brothers and sisters".
hide in the toilets, no one can collar you and tell you off.
and even better you won't be in amongst a group of people but still feeling so alone... at least you will actauly be alone!.

Doesn't the WTS say that blood can't carry oxygen for the first 24 hours after a transfusion?
by Olin Moyles Ghost insome jws have told me that blood transfusions cannot save lives in the case of catastrophic bleeding (for example, resulting from an auto accident) because blood cannot carry oxygen for 24 hours after it has been transfused.
is this in print in wt publications?
it must be, because i've heard it on multiple occasions from different jws.. i find it very hard to believe that such a statement is true.

Hmm, I meant to say, yes, that sounds totally familiar. I remember being taught that as a child. Maybe it was in the old blood booklet. Does anyone remember the small white booklet with a very 1950s looking Doctor on the front cover?

He Forgives and Forgets!

Wannabe - what you say is, of course very good and laudable. However, forgiving and forgetting is very hard if the person - or organsiation - is not sorry they have sinned against you.
Surely repentence is a pre-requiste for forgivness?

Minors going door-to-door
by doublelife ini just went to the silentlambs website and there is a link to criminalcheck.com where you can find registered sex offenders by zip code.
so i typed in the zip code of the territory from my old congregation and i was surprised at how many people popped up.
there was three pages of names and on almost all of those names i recognized the street address as one that i went door-to-door on.

I remember going door-to-door with my best friend. I was 9 and they were 7. Obviously our mothers were nearby, but thinking about it now, how dare the WTS take unpaid labour of children!

Belated Introduction
by LittleSister infirst i must apologise for not posting an intro before and for the length of my intro, once you start it just keeps pouring out.
i grew up in what the jw org likes to call a divided home.
my mother had become a jw a few years before and was raising her 4 children of which i was the youngest in the truth.

A possible explanation for the new "Generation" understanding
by agonus inholy crap, i just realized something!.
could it be that the unusually quickly-replaced "new light" came about as a result of the wt's last explanation unintentionally matching generation 2, then changing it again once they (and countless folks on the internet) figured out it was the same explanation, to save face?.
i mean, is it possible the gb made up the last "new light" completely unaware that it matched the 1927 explanation, then changed it in an oh-shit moment when they realized not long after that they'd already used that one?.

I have a suspicion, tin foil hat on, that the current GB took advantage of Ted Jaraz's absence through illness to push this change through. His stroke happened in May(?) 09, and I think it normally takes about a year between writing the article & studying it in the congs.

When did the "tag team" generation start?
by DT inthat seems to be the impression that most people are getting from the recent change in understanding.
however, the recent watchtower article seems to contain some contradictions.
here is a quote:.

Good points DT, I'd missed the vagueness around 1914.
"...He evidently meant that the lives of the anointed who were on hand when the sign began to become evident in 1914 would overlap with the lives of other anointed ones..."
We've gone from Jesus returned invisibly to the sign began to be evident?
Evidently, it is reasonable to conclude there could possibly be a weakening of emphasis on 1914.
I've always wondered why the GB didn't just give in to historical evidence around 607 and shift 1914 to 1934 and tie the start of the last days to Hitler.

The Generation that saw, the Generation that saw 1914, will not pass away.
by ThomasCovenant inposter sapphy (i think).
wrote this phrase and to me it is the best and simplest way of rendering the new understanding at its most ludicrous.. ''we believe that the generation that saw the generation that saw 1914 will not pass away until all these things occur''.
this will evidently be extended to ''the generation that saw the generation that saw the generation that saw 1914'' etc.

heh, I was trying to express it mathematically, cos I'm nerdy like that.
New Light = (TGTS 2 1914) NOT pass away.

Ideas for spinning the change in 'generation' for maximum impact?
by bohm inthe change in the definition of 'generation' is the first major doctrinal change in the time i has been involved with the jehovahs witnesses (allmost a full year!
), and i personally find it pretty exciting since many hear has talked about how the other changes (like the 95 one) caused the first weak wtf moments.. what i wonder about now is how (if?
) one should discuss this topic with active jehovahs witnesses for maximal effect - so to our resident mind-control gurus: what are your plans?.
