  Short truth about 9/11, Truth hurts you know!

  " we are the cause of our destruction *(it's quoted different in the bible) / i believe that 9/11 was a bad day, we cry & mourn & move on, we get over it, i got over 9/11 in under 24 hours & to be honest i'm sick of hearing about it.... now i also understand that millions was not paying attention before 9/11 & they still aint paying attention.. if people would wake the hell up and read the bible they would already know that god already warn us to listen to him, and be on guard 24/7 cause that devil which we call satan exist and on the move to overthrow billions........ where is your faith?

  jesus clearly said that not to sorrow for the dead, cause they will get resurrected when the messiah comes back- john 5 verse 28,29.. so get over it and heed jesus words....

  Legendary, you are VERY insensitive to tell everyone to "Get over it". Who are you to tell other people how they should be greiving for their loved ones who were brutally murdered in this attack?? What was your purpose of this thread? What comfort have you brought to ANYONE by opening this thread?

  Your beliefs and views are entirely up to you, but you have no right tell people how THEY should be feeling. I recommend that posters do not even bother responing to this thread. next time, think before you judge, legendary. You have done nothing but hurt and anger people who should have every right to mourn their loss without critisicm. You have offered no support here. Please stop.

  well guys, i just cant do it.

  for a long time now i have been trying to get on with my life and try to forget the rage and hurt i feel at the wtbs.

  my resignation from the board a few weeks back was part of this.

  Well guys, I just cant do it. For a long time now I have been trying to get on with my life and try to forget the rage and hurt I feel at the WTBS. My resignation from the board a few weeks back was part of this. I had other reasons to leave too, but I thought that if I stopped visiting this site it would somehow stop me from constantly regurgitating my contempt for my former religion.

  I have tried so hard, but I just keep coming back to my same old thoughts. It has been almost a year now since I found out the "real truth" but I am STILL so angry. Every wek I try to make a fresh start and not think about it, but then I will hear or read something from my parents or a friend about the org, and there I am again - bitter and resentful. Will the organisation always be a part of my life if my family and some friends are JW's? Is there no escape?

  I dont want to live my life this way. Sometimes I get that great feeling that I am over it, and the org means nothing to me, but in the next hour something will happen and it will come back to haunt my mind yet again. Dont get me wrong, I am very happy, I just dont know how to move on, to just not care anymore about my previous life. I want to forget it all.

  What can I do? What has worked for you? Does anger still drive you? If not, how did you take steps to eliminate it?

  Experiences would be much appreciated.

  remembering 9/11

  sometime today--i don't remember exactly when--it dawned on me that tomorrow is 9/11.

  when the revelation hit me, i damned near cried on the spot.

  a fuckin 44 yearold, cynical, hardass black bastard like me!

  I was shaken awake by my JW flatemate, who was incredibly shocked, yelling that armageddon had started. She had just seen the news report herself and I dont think she watched long enough to get the full story as she was yelling that New York had been totally destroyed and started talking about Daniels prophesy. I was barely conscious and stumbled out to the TV. The first thing I saw was the tower crumbling all the way down. A shiver went down my body like ice, and at that moment, I believed her. I was still studying then but hadnt been to any meetings for approximately 6 months - I said "Well, im going to die" to her, and I really meant it. Later, I realised it was not armageddon, but I was still filled with dread.

  We sat down and watched it together, I called my family, fiance and friends. My flatmate told me that she had been channel surfing in the morning, annoyed that "Video Hits" was'nt on as it usually was and kept wondering why all the channels were promoting some "new movie" all at the same time. She stopped on a channel for a few seconds and then realised it was real.

  I was taking interviews for work that day and every person I interviewed looked completely devestated. I took approx. 5 minutes with each candidate before the interview to discuss what had happened. At the end of the day I cried. I will never forget this day, and my heart goes out to you New Yorkers, I cannot imagine how truly devestating this event must have been to you.

  what do you think the reaction of the dubs would be if the new light was no armaggedon and no "new system"?

  I am a JW because for the simple reason that they are the only ones that are trying to their best to apply Bible direction to their lives.

  You sound like quite a liberal JW, I know some others that are not just "In it for the New System", and other JW's who do not worship the WTBS, but worship Jehovah. I have a JW friend who has a very good theory: "never worship the organisation the same as you worship god, otherwise when the organisation makes a mistake, you will blame it on Jehovah". This is a good view to have, but I do disagree with you on this:

  I believe that nearly all of the JW doctrine is incorrect and man made. Jw's "Bible direction" is basically a MANS SPECULATION on what the scriptures mean, and nothing more. JWs are a cult, and thats what is simple.

  How can I help a friend with shunning?

  she is really close to this person, and is basically his best friend, and all she had to lean on.

  she now has to shun him.

  I have a JW friend who has just had a close family member DF'd. She is really close to this person, and is basically his best friend, and all she had to lean on. She now has to shun him. She is very upset, but still feels shunning is the best possible way to get this person to come back. How can I help her and show her from the bible that shunning is unscriptual??

  The Glory Days Are Over

  there is no doubt in my mind that the glory days of jehovah's witnesses are over.

  from my knowledge and experience with wt history, i would define the glory days as the decades of the 1950's, 1960's and early 1970's.

  with knorr's great expansionary vision and discipline, dubs in the 1950's became a "somebody" in the 1950's.

  Dubs are now going to college and in college have their minds opened to critical thinking and real science. Once that happens, the Cult begins to lose their ever-needed grip. Every time the WTS speaks publicly about its problems, it shoots itself in the foot, but these days those statements are circulated around the world to hundreds of millions of potential viewers in mere seconds after they are uttered or written.

  Indeed. It seems like this "Tool of satan" may be the one to topple the tower!!

  Actually, I agree that the WT will never die, there will always be SOME die hard hangers on. But what about the next generation of dubs? More and more young ones are leaving or getting Df every year - the ones that are left are merely chair warmers, hardly of them have a real genuine "Zeal" for the troof. So you have to think, what will the next generation be comprised of? I believe that the WT is in a very bad state at the moment, and its reputation has probably never been worse. I predict that the WT will soon begin making very big changes. It will either go more mainstream, or go more cult like, unfortunately from recent changes, it seems as if its heading in the direction of the latter.

  How Have U Changed since Leaving?

  i've been thinking about changes in my world view lately and wonder if others have had a similarly subtle, yet profound, outlook on life.

  not being a jw nor even a believer anymore has made a subtle change that ive observed.

  to begin with, i read somewhere that people tend to bring their own standards to their religion.

  Wow, great question and I can definately give you a genuine and very positive response.

  Deciding to never be baptised in this organisation and to leave was the best decision I ever made. I am without a doubt a 100% better person. I am so happy. I too have kept my moral standards that I once had, in fact I am far more sensible now than I ever was as a JW. Its hard to believe that I was ever that person I was a few years ago. I guess best described, the feeling of complete freedom and relief is overwhelming. I focus on my career now, and take steps to achieve goals I set. I enjoy my marriage to my new husband and keep reminding myself over and over how lucky I was to find such a wonderful man. I think about how glad I am that I made the decision to keep seeing him, even though he wasnt a JW. I am more respectful with my parents who are JW's - than I ever was. I think I have a better relationship with them more now than ever. I am generally a nicer person - less selfish and far more mature. I am currently looking into supporting charitys - World Vision is the first I am going to go for - I would have never done that as a JW!! I look forward to bringing up a NORMAl child and encouraging it to attend college - to give it all the things I was never allowed.

  I no longer suffer from depression, like I once did. I am far more patient and tolerant to everyone. Most importantly, my mind is now alot broader. I take care to question everything now, to look into everything. I sleep in on weekends. I have forgotten what nights the meetings are on. I vote. When someone sneezes, I say "Bless you". When I talk to clients I finish my conversation with a big smile and say "Merry Xmas"!! (if the season calls for it). Today I threw out the last of my JW propaganda material - the Knowledge book - it felt great.

  I guess theres that turning point in your life when you realise the organisation of Jehovahs Witnesses is just plain insignificant - it means nothing - and thats a damn good feeling!!
