Do You Think Most People Are Prejudiced ----Black, White, Red, etc.???
by minimus inafter reading the terrific thread about the black harvard professor and the allegations being thrown around, i wonder if anyone might not show prejudice in one way or another.
i kind of think, anyone can be guilty of it.
i know some blacks that seriously look down upon other blacks simply because of a variation in color.

Is punishing someone for changing their religion against international law
by ldrnomo ini saw this on wikipedia:.
the united nations commission on human rights, considers the recanting of a person's religion a human right legally protected by the international covenant on civil and political rights: "the committee observes that the freedom to 'have or to adopt' a religion or belief necessarily entails the freedom to choose a religion or belief, including the right to replace one's current religion or belief with another or to adopt atheistic views [...] article 18.2 bars coercion that would impair the right to have or adopt a religion or belief, including the use of threat of physical force or penal sanctions to compel believers or non-believers to adhere to their religious beliefs and congregations, to recant their religion or belief or to convert."[5].
seems to me that being shunned by family and friends for quitting jehovah's witnesses would be penal sanctions.. .

IMSOHO, it should be, they should have to suffer for making others suffer because we or they have had a change of mind on what they thought was the right religion. So hell yeah,

I think we have more friends now with Obama, Hezbollah, Syria, Huego Chavez, Iran you know everyone who was formerly our enemy or at least not our friends, and those that were our friends Obama has managed to insult and show he isn't friendly to them, unless of course they follow the Lenin manifesto and hate democracy.
We are at a level similar to what happened to Europe pre WWII IMO.

what you should do is send them a subscription of play boy or hustler, or better yet send it to them addressed via their local kingdom hall. The wife should at least send them a note back telling them not to insult her by their actions, and tell them do to the insult, she and you are declining to attend.

left in lurch
by ssn587 inrecently talked with a brother who had the following experience.. he and wife had been on a trip out of town, and they started rehashing old wrongs, he had mentioned that she wasn't very nice to him lately in fact the last several years.
she wanted to know why he had felt that way.
when he told me that right then and there i mentioned that they or at least he shouldn't have brought up old or current wrongs.

Recently talked with a brother who had the following experience.
But he did, and when he gave her a for instance experience she exploded and started accusing him of putting down her family when all he wanted to point out was that she was better to them and nicer to them they she had been to him for several years.
Well to cut it short he told me she got really pissed and started putting him and his family down, and he got mad stopped the car and said you drive i am going to walk up a ways to cool off, Well she took off and left him there, his wallet was in the car, as was his hat and any water that he might of had to drink. The temp he told me was 105 and on the hot highway it seemed to be a lot hotter than that. he was 50 miles from home and 12/13 miles from the nearest place to get a drink.
He got picked up by the highway patrol 4/5 miles down the road and dropped off at a area 8 miles away that had a mickey d's and left him, there well with no money, he couldn't satisfy his thrist and waited there several hours and finally started walking again and got a ride for another ways down the road. He got let out 20 miles from town, walked several more miles, got another ride into town and walked 8 miles from where he was let out to his hom.
I told him that was a hell of an experience and why the hell are you still with her. Well they still have kids at home, and he doesn't want to desert them. So he stayed and is trying to make the best of it. The crown jewel of this story is that she is a sister in a local congregation that is suposedly in good standing, in fact she aux pioneers time to time and goes out two to three days a week.
I told him he should leave at least for a week or two but he is hesitant. So I don't know what will come of it. But told him you have to do what ya have to do.
I wanted to know what you all though he should do, and what do you think of this supposedly good fine sister.

I had one of those discussions this weekend - Am I getting anywhere?
by BonaFide inlast week during bible highlights, a sister commented on leviticus 19:28 about not having a tattoo.
i also commented, saying that we are not under the law, but the principle should be taken into consideration.. a sister i don't speak with very often called me.
she is in the same congregation as some of my family.

good thread, keep it coming, the sad part is that most jdubs think that the FDS actually speaks Jehovah's (or whomever it is) words to us, that is tragic in and of itself. As far as tattoos, can't believe that was the highlight of the talk. Tattoos, we are used to show affiliation with ones tribal heritage, egyptian women used them for fertility etc. They were of various gods etal.

Seeing old watchtower aquantances
by jacethespace ini havent posted here for quite a while, since jwd changed websites in fact, but had to relate this.. a few days ago i bumped into some of my local congregation members i havent saw for quite a while.and said hello to the guy i knew and chatted with him while his wife was in the local store.first thing i noticed was the attitude that i had gotten away from and in fact was one of the reasons why i decided to leave.he told me that the org was moving forward and guiding them better than ever and said that it would be better if i didnt come back because i wouldnt beable to keep up with the progress of the org.although he said he didnt want me to go down with the world.his arrogance was just wrong.i told him the bible says that every man will be found a liar and he said it depends how you interpret it.his wife came out the shop and was much more pleasant and then another member i hadnt saw for a while came over to them [ i think they had been out on a boasting session] and i said hello.however she said hi but practically ignored me.the whole experience was just so sureall that i couldnt help but think that it encourages people not to listen to them and left quite angry.baring in mind i live next door to an elder and see him often.some seem to look down on you when you stop going and others just dont bother talking to you as i they are above everyone else.. jacethespace.

Progress? only progress I've seen in the dumming downof the congregations, just obey the FDS and you will be okay, but do more do more do more. hasn't changed in 20+ years. What a bunch of cow manure.

I see in appropriate behavior even at the KH's. I for one don't answer if not addressed by name, my name is neither sister or brother, its either Sir, Mr. Mrs. if any child doesn't use that I don't acknowledge their existence and won't speak with them. I have a name and or a title and I won't answer to anything less polite.
