  yes its not fair. you shouldnt deny kids. I never denied mine, I simply didnt agree with it. the we give presents any time is a cop out. - my sister has just left - she is still of the christmas is still pagan and I wont be celebrating it mind, - she used the same argument. - a present should be sent out of genuine thought. so I said, ok when have you ever bought my kids a present then? - she said, never... you are correct.

  she is moving in soon, and damn there better be 2 pressies under my tree from her for my kids.

  Are Jehovah's Witness men good catches?

  i've stated this before on this message board but i was kind of curious about this and wanted to get some feedback from the group.

  in particular, the ladies who are either current or former jw's.. about a year or so ago, my wife went with me to a church i was attending at the time.

  we then later that morning attended a kh meeting.

  on the opposite side I think its really unfair to embark on a relationship with a 'worldly' while you are out with the intention of going back once you 'marry them' - I know people who do that, and its just like you then become a different person to the one they met.

  JW men cant just be defined. people are people. some are sincere, some are arseholes. though on the assertive topic, I never found a JW man I couldnt shoot down, so assertiveness I didnt see.? I found most of them wet, insipid and not at all attractive, especially the idea that if you got them in the sack they would think everything was a sin. what a turn off.

  what is it with women?

  i swear, i only see women doing this.

  picture it--i'm patiently waiting in line at the local sack o shit and watching the woman in front of me stack her mountain of groceries onto the conveyor belt.

  now, the grocery store conveyor belts are not 100% conveyor belt--they all have 6 to 8 inches of flat space at the end of the conveyor.

  i hate shopping anyway. I would rather get a man to go and do it for me. only problem is, they come back with all the wrong items. - sometimes I order it online, but I assume then it gets hand picked by a man, and once again, all the wrong items. - why assume if they have no orange juice I would want blackcurrant or cranberry. If I wanted it I would have asked for it.

  as for stacking on the conveyor, I wont do that, I only place items when there is space, and I wont pile up because that annoys me. sadly lt annoys the people behind me because they seem to think Im not making a big enough mountain on the conveyor, hence they frantically look for another queue.

  moral of the story, you dont know what shopping issues the person behind you will have - you cant win, so take your time, get the clerk to pack for you, after all you pay for the privelege anyway. if the miserable man behind doesnt like it let him find another queue. :D

  i always had present day a week before xmas. no way were my kids getting picked on at school. and I have to say I never went without anything even though I didnt have christmas. - sometimes and I am in no way sticking up for it, people go round racking their brains thinking what can i buy them of great monetary value this year. in a way I am glad I have it in perspective, my friend up the road, - what her son got for xmas last year was appalling - a laptop, a tv, a ps3 a ds. - she phned me this year in panic, what can I get him? hes got everything, i was thinking an iphone and a camera. I said Sam, hes ten. - what the hell? he doesnt appreciate any of these things.. - Im glad in a way that i have learned not to go mad. - my kids know that christmas for us is a cozy day, they get gifts, but i wont go all out trying to top last years present. - in a way I agree with the witnesses when they say people like that are slaves..

  - do some only mix with other ex witnesses a couple of my friends, and it seems that by definition, they are 'ex witnesses' almost like a religion in itself.

  - i would never define myself as an 'ex employee of xxx' as you leave it behind it doesnt define you.

  yes thats a really sensible view. of course your past has a part in shaping your future, but it doesnt have to be everything. - you have a choice. learn from it and move on. - I used to be a JW. its not the first thing I would announce to new people i met - people are very wierded out by witnesses at the best of times and I can see why - its like banging your head against a brick wall. - my good friends through time who have never been affiliated with the religion, and even when I was a member, I mixed closely and went on holiday with, feel like scales have fallen from my eyes, and even though I thought we were close, I see now that they held back from giving everything.

  I refuse to accept the labels, for example other than somewhere like here, I would never refer to myself as DFd. that is their label and I am not one of them., - therefore I am just me. - I am just wondering because I have seen some people who still refer to themselves by a witness label, even though they have no affiliation. its as if I were to come up to you and say, you are a mongoose according to my beliefs, and then you accept that label..

  I miss a couple of my friends, who I believe were genuine people who are just entrenched. I miss my family, though I am celebrating the return of my sister to me, but aside from that, I dont miss the lifestyle one iota.

  thanks for the responses so far. Iagree, coming on here doesnt mean you havent left it behind, but yes its just that there are people with whom you can share an affinity, - like having old workmates on your facebook, doesnt mean you havent moved on, - but I think for some it defines them completely but not in a healthy way, just a friend i have concern for, all she knows are her family or some bitter ex witnesses, - (not even positive ones, well except me lol) -but I told her she needs to open up and not just look for friends who used to be witnesses, as by definition thats all she will ever be..
