I play World of Warcraft for that reason. I can slay "demons" and monsters and beat the living crap out of things when I'm pissed off.

Thinking of joining Satan's team so I can use Darth Vader powers at the Kingdom Hall!
by Witness 007 inalways wanted to use the "mind chokehold" on some elders....."okay brothers to conclude our meeting we will sing........aaaah....uhhhh.....can't breath....jehoo......arrr.
" or reach out towards the microphone and have it "levitate" into my hand, jedi style, and then say; {vader deep voice}"do not underestimate the power of the darkside...{deep breathing} or the "jedi mind trick"..."you don't need to see my service report...i'm not the brother your looking for....".
if satan gave me these powers i would hand over my pissy little soul for sure...i welcome the dark lord!

Crafts
by mrsjones5 inwhen i was growing up in the borg i didn't see much in the way of craftmaking except for a few who knew how to sew.
no one that i knew at any of the halls i went to knitted or crocheted or tatted or did much in the needle arts other than sewing.
i was introduced to knitting by a "worldly" woman who was my brother's nurse.. maybe this is just something i noticed and is limited to my borg experience.. josie.

I knit, crochet, sew, needlepoint, paint, draw and I'm a trained chef. My new job is doing live cooking lessons and food demos in a big grocery store.
But, I've sold my needlecrafts for money a time or two.

What are the Major Issues with Jehovah's Witnesses?
by AllTimeJeff init's safe to say that in most instances, it appears that the catalyst for the final move away from jw's, the real start of a road toward a jw exit, is something that affected you personally, whether that was you or a loved one/family member.
we hit our personal bs level, can't take it anymore,.
then we start to examine the flaws of jw dogma.. i would suggest that most do not start a jw exit because they examine the dogma on a personal study project and find out that something isn't right.

The religion would have no real power over anyone without the practice of disfellowshipping for doctrinal differences or certain behaviors.
I wonder how many would be sitting in the KHs without a doubt in their minds if they could just walk away without consequence?
I have a feeling a third to a half of Kingdom Halls are filled with people who are questioning or doubting, at least a little, what is taught to them there.
I sat there and argued back in my mind with the Watchtower or with the speaker for years before I finally just quit putting myself through that for appearances sake.
If "apostasy" in the sense of disputing the WTS teachings or questioning them starts there, in the mind, I've been one most of the 36 years I went to meetings.
Hate is not what I feel for them. I feel compassion mixed with a certain frustration that comes from helplessness. I'm sure I can't do or say any one thing that would change anyone's mind if they really want that life. I'm sure that compassion would be returned with contempt, but still, I think they are in need of it as much as anyone is.

Information Control & Thought Control - Newbies Check Steve Hassan Out !
by flipper ini've posted threads on this last year but due to many new members exiting the jehovah's witness cult and joining this board - i felt it's important to share steve hassan's information briefly to bring interest and attention to what former members in the witnesses were and are experiencing.
knowledge is power and it is important.. on page 49 in steve hassan's book " releasing the bonds- empowering people to think for themselves " it states " a common form of information control involves blocking out any critical or negative points of view.
some cults simply forbid members to have access to any non-cult material - such as newspapers, magazines, television, radio, and the internet - while others have more subtle ways of controlling information.

No wonder I left! I never did obey that order from the WTS about what to read, watch and who to talk to. I was a terrible JW. I never converted anyone either.
What I mainly hated was most of the other JWs constantly criticizing me for being "weak" and having a "lack of faith". I wasn't weak...I was normally skeptical. But, it hurts to be treated contemptuously by people who claim to love you.

I don't think my family ever really gave up Thanksgiving. We like the turkey dinners with the relatives too much. My kids have been doing birthday parties and Halloween costume parties for years now.
Christmas a little, but it's actually not their favorite holiday. We do gifting though.
I know Witnesses who love those social things, so they just do up the ones allowed more. They're the ones throwing big baby showers and engagment parties.
Best thing about Easter....CADBURY CARAMEL EGGS.

Who would WANT this wicked system to go on any longer?
by JWdaughter inthat is always the refrain of jws when confronting former jws who point out all the false prophecy, the false teachings and declare that they are not putting their lives in line with this religion simply because they say the end is near.. first of all.
that is no reflection on me as saying that i think this 'system of things' is all hunky dory.
crap happens.

It's sort of like people who feel suicidal. They don't really want to die, they just want something bad to end and can't think of any better way to end it.
There's nothing wrong with wanting war, epidemics and famine to end...or even diminish....everyone wants that. I would hope there's a better way to deal with all of that than exterminating the vast majority of human beings.

I grew up with an OCD and rage-a-holic mom too. I used to wonder why my dad would put up with her rages and tantrums.
It's because these kind of people attract the co-dependent types.

Field service....I think I forgot what that was. Don't refresh my memory.
Gonna start my new job Monday in a large local grocery store, and the first thing I did was volunteer to sing in the company choir.
Basically my job is I do a live cooking demonstration with certain products the store is featuring that week. I'm a trained chef and finally my love of teatching and performing in front of a crowd will be put to good use. I'm soo looking forward to it!
I'm going to be singing "God Bless America" at the top of my lungs July 4th and Christmas carols on Dec. 24th.
If you're in Friendswood Texas, stop by the local H-E-B Cooking Connection sometime and have fun with me!

Ah time for a feely good article so soothe all the recent browbeatings!
If you hang in there and suffer enough of the doom and gloom, you occasionally get rewarded with the "pet the tiger" fantasy.
Be sure to wear your Bethel approved outfits in your daydreams as you fantasize about the totalitarian hellho..I mean paradise that the WTS would make of the whole earth.
Blondie, you're a gem. Your patience with this regurgitated drivel rivals the legendary patience of Job.
