  i was discussing doctrine with my mom, to try to get her to see things in another way.

  unfortunately things got heated.

  she obviously has doubts, but seems to be of the thinking of better not to question and just go along.. she did make a good point though.

  Yes, but the claim to be "the only true religion" or the only true version or Christianity put a burden upon Jehovah's Witnesses to be more accurate than any other religion, including the first century Christians.

  It's a burden they put upon themselves by making the claim, yet when someone calls bullshit on them for it, they're always ready with the weasling and the side stepping explanations.

  The fact is, you can't claim to be influenced directly by holy spirit in your leadership, which by biblical definition always comes back to God with results and always pefectly accomplishes what it sets out to do because it IS the power of a God that the Bible claims is perfect in all his ways, and always be seriously screwing up Biblical interpretation.

  Human imperfection is always the beg off, and no doubt, the actual cause of being consistently WRONG, but dammit, then quit making all these claims to be "the faithful and discreet slave" which is by definition inspired directly by holy spirit. You can't be BOTH! You cannot be WRONG this much and also be the spirit inspired faithful slave!

  almost all woman want to get married and have children.

  if you are a faithful jw woman there is a good chance this will never happen.

  70% of jw are woman and 30% are men.

  Witness men in general, are no different from any other sort of men. The trouble is, that just like the women, they think they're supposed to be something no man could be.

  Unrealistic expectations about sex, marriage and love are just part of this whole bag o' crap religion because it's unrealistic about everything.

  One of the surest paths to depression is to have unrealistic and distorted expectations. The WTS could write a book on how to create that sort of depression. In fact, I think they have, many times over.

  Anyone former JW's from St Louis or Southern Mo?

  i'm formerly from the jackson/cape girardeau area and am currently in st louis.. i've been out in the 'world' for 10 years.

  this is the first time i've tried to contact anyone or really even read anything about the jw's (and former jw's).

  to be quite honest, i was trying to forget that part of my life ever happened.

  I wasn't born in the South, but one of my grandmothers was from Missouri and the other was from Arkansas.

  My dad was born in Arkansas. He is what I call "a southern gentleman" and taught me how to both knee men in the balls when they're being uncouth and also how to be all genteel and ladylike. I can priss around with the best of them. I went to private school as a kid where they gave us lessons in posture and all that charm and manners shit.

  Also, my hubby is from the South, so he kind of added to that..."Be a lady," he says..."but not in private." LOL

  What is the J.W. position on video games?

  want to study with me last winter.

  he came into my house and while walking around looking at things he noticed my shelved collection of video games, some going back 15 years, but most old playstation rpg and racing games, a few ps2 rpg'd mixed in.

  the usual stuff, final fantasy and such.

  I usually play a Paladin (a holy warrior priest with healing powers) or a Druid (a shapeshifting healing warrior who uses nature magic) on WoW. I like killing people and things with "holy light" or nature magic.

  It makes me feel like I'm giving the finger to WTS superstition when I do it.

  It's interesting that on WoW there's religion in their alternate earthlike world, but nothing much like Christianity except for humans who worship "the Light" which has no God, just a lot of gods and goddesses and heroes. But, the cathedrals and churches are very medieval era Catholic inspired, and they have bishops, priests, paladins, and such, but the religion itself is very pagan in feeling, with magic using and healing powers and such. There's one power a paladin gains which is called "The Archangel" where he or she is invincible for a minute, grows huge golden wings and just goes on a whacked out super powered inhumanly fast killing spree. LOL...Love that!

  The people who think of these games are kind of genius at pulling the powerful elements out of human myth to entertain us with, I think. And, it's a hell of alot more fun than real religion. LOL

  I always have a lot more fun playing online games than I ever did going to the KingDumb Hell.

  I like World of Warcraft and Second Life, which are both online avatar games. Wow is just going around as a fantasy warrior killing shit, and Second Life is just going shopping, dancing and playing with your movable Barbie doll that you can make look anyway you like. I usually go clubbing and shopping with my friends on there...good on rainy boring nights when there's nothing on TV.

  Oh, and you can do kinky or the usual sexual stuff with your avatar in Second Life in the adult sections, but I haven't gone there...yet.

  what do you do/used to do?i go to the bathroom for more than 10 mins,then read something irrelevant or think of something irrelevant or go out for a while and so the meeting comes to an end..

  I used to think about sex a lot...there's nothing like the combination of repression and boredom to make me really horny. I used to lean over and whisper dirty stuff in my husband's ear to see if I could make him snicker.
