Recent article on bride price
by meangirl ini am new to the site so forgive me if i'm doing this wrong but somebody posted an article by the society recently on the christian view of brice price or something like that (sorry don't know how to find it) and it really sickened me.
something that i have been dying to say and registered just to do so is that they are so full of it!!!
does anyone remember the article back in the 40's about how it was not right to tip your hat at a women because that would be elevating her above the man and that the woman was never to be elevated above the man......yet during our modern times they write an article saying that this custom is not wrong or demeaning but rather how to do it in a "christian" way.......so tipping your hat to a woman is wrong but apparantly selling your daughter is aokay?????

Using some WT reasoning here: One time a man wearing a hat killed someone, therefore hats are to be avoided as they are pagan and evil.
Sound familiar?
One time at a birthday party someone was killed, therefore birthday parties are to be avoided as they are pagan and evil.

So, it happened. Packed my things and left
by aligot ripounsous insome may remember, i wrote on an other thread that elders forbade me to give comments at the wt meeting, as i weaken the brothers' faith.
i wasn't satisfied with this outcome and, 10 days ago i sat with my wife on the front part of the kh (like in many khs, attendants pack on the back seats), in the middle of the row, right in front of the wt elder, and raised my hand insistently.
i was of course openly ignored but i didn't care, all that i wanted was verybody to see how they deal with independent members.

How did you even fit through the door to exit the Kingdom Hall with testicles that large?

I wish this board was a vBulletin or PhpBB forum - they're both so much more intuitive and easier to use. This is the only forum I've ever visited where the new posts aren't on page one, and there's just so much random bugginess to it all.
Besides that, the folks here are absolutely great

PAGAN.....and other JW Curse Words....
by homeschool ini remember working at a banquet hall/resturant, and it was just around the time when the jw teachings/actions weren't sitting well with me.
but my mind was still very much a jw.
a lady, whom i clicked with & whom i'd hung out with a few times, came up to me one day and said "homeschool, there's a couple things i wanted to tell you.

"College" - oooh so evil and scary! Beware all the demunz!
"Sleeping in" - what, you're not waking up on Saturday morning to do service?
"Heavy petting" - dear brothers I'm so sorry, I gave in to the snare of heavy petting!
"Mother f*cker" - Ok, well, just stating the obvious here lol

2009 Drama Synopsis and Comments
by jabberwock inthis year's drama was based on the parable of the prodigal son.
the theme was "your brother was dead and came to life".
as some have probably heard, it is a modern day story based on that parable, so there are no fancy costumes or fake beards.. .

Wow, just reading that boils my blood for some reason. I can just imagine all the clueless Dub's in the audience that have a tear brought to their eye over how touching and warm the drama is. Ugh.
Just to re-state what's already been stated... this is utter crap as this fellow would be welcomed back by a judicial committee, and is such an obvious attempt to play on the emotions of the many many witnesses that have had family members "wise up" and leave "the truth" behind.

Man, what a brilliant idea! In my experience whenever there was 3 or more folks DF'd at one time within the halls I attended they would usually talk outside in the parking lot out of sight from the rest of the good Dub's. I do dig this idea though. Wish there was a hall somewhere around here with a big DF'd population, I'd definitely go to that hall and make friends.
I remember in my younger years there were so many brothers who were DF'd in the surrounding congregations that we all used to play basketball with that I joked with a friend of mine that we should have an all-disfellowshipped team and an all non-DF'd team that could play ball against each other.
