  i have never understood how adults that have had a life in the normal world could be brainwashed into this cult?

  ok i know it dosn't happen very often, about 1 in every 10 years in my experiance.

  but it dos happen all the same?.

  I think some are attracted to the religion because it's the only place a normal ordinary person could become someone who is praised by others because of things they can control... their speaking ability, hour spent out on service, reaching out, pioneering ect..ect.

  Think about the rush the Elders get after they give a talk at the KH and there is a line of people wanting to praise him on his wonderful talk. Where else does this happen in his life? I could see how they could get wrapped up in the praise regardless of the ever changing message.

  Most Annoying Things That Happen At JW Meetings

  today i was remembering how angry i used to get at the meetings and all the little irritations that in the end would just make my blood boil these included:.

  prayers that go on foreverstudy or wt conductors still taking comments when its clear that the point has been covered 20 times alreadymeetings over running by more than 5 minsmy favourite was this one elder who would play guess the point i am thinking of.

  he would keep rephrasing the question from the wt until someone would bring up the point he was thinking of.

  I would have to say, the brother, you know the one... that would give that long ol comment during the Wtchtower study and cover the whole public talk so he could impress the elder who gave the talk. I would call him brother brown nose (not to his face of course)

  UNITED NATIONS CHARTER read in all congregations at beginning of SPECIAL TALK

  then 1 thessalonians 5 read about 'peace and security'.

  the speakers instructed not to embellish the statements.. 'noble sentiments' was mentioned about the un charter but no criticism.. followed by the need for god's kingdom.. it sounded more like an advert for the un to me.

  I listened in as well and did hear them mention the UN. The speaker also talked about the harlot symbolizing false religion and how the governments are going to turn on false religion. How, If we look around the world today we see the hostility toward religion... churches are empty. Then of course the Catholic Church's continual sex scandal and how the leaders have been trying to suppress these getting out but are unable to.

  What Hypocrites!

  I cant beleive they have the nerve to still point the finger at the Catholic scandal when they have their own!!

  Gardeners your most dreaded project?....sorry more fluff!

  this winter in florida we had horrible freezes for days on end.

  it managed to kill 20 year old bouganvilla.

  now in case you don't know what this is, it's a horrible invasive plant from hell but looks beautiful.

  Boy do I feel for you!! I have a Bougainvillea and OUCH!!! I agree very beautiful.. but the sap in the thorns can give you a pretty bad rash so be careful..

  For me, my dreaded project is always weeding..no matter how much round up I use I still have to weed. I think I may have to rent a rototiller this spring and go to town in the back yard.

  my husband and i have been fading for sometime.

  we did attend the memorial this year with his parents.

  we have had quite a few heart to heart conversations about us leaving the witnesses slowly.

  My husband seemed a bit concerned when he saw me on here as well but I would openly read out loud some of the funny threads and then slip in a few of the more deep threads. He now asks we what's going on the forum. Who knows he may even post one day.

  Elder called last night and they are stopping by tonite for a 'visit'.......

  surprised me that he actually followed up on his word and called .

  it will be strange after four yrs.

  to have them in our house .my husband was not happy to hear it will be two brothers coming over, because he really does not want to feel we are being counseled .

  Very happy for you and your husband Troubled Mind.

  I'm sure it felt great to get that power back and speak you mind.

  My husband sounds a little like yours...I think it's easier for me to speak up. For him, as he said it was drilled in him since a young age to respect the elders no matter what!! His mother is quite a fanatic.

  I have to remind him by telling him..What have they done for us in our most desperate of times? Do they pay our bills? Do they sign your pay check? Have they showed us any form of love? Of course he knows they have done nothing for us but he still clams up at times I wish he would attack!! LOL. I guess that's why we compliment each other because where he clams up I speak out..Loudly at times. It's something I love about him at times and really dislike about him at times. I'm sure he feels the same about me.

  Facebook (computer) question

  if one sends a message via facebook that might also include a picture, is it possible for the receiver to trace where the message came from?

  obviously, they know it came from facebook username soandso, but do they have any way to know (perhaps via some tags on the image) where the message really came from (ip address, location, etc.
