by JimmyPage inyour life has already begun, and you can start living in the moment right now.. everything you need to live mindfully and completely is already within you.. doing your job, maintaining personal discipline, and developing devotion toward fellow sentient beings and the care of the world are ideal arenas for practicing mindfulness and letting go of attachments.. zen meditation, or zazen, is simply but mindfully sitting to cultivate full awareness.. meditation is difficult because the mind is in the habit of attaching to thoughts, feelings, ideas, and opinions.
everyday sitting will gradually train your mind to observe rather than attach..

Stephen Hawking knows more about heaven than Jesus did.
by moshe ini have been watching the discovery channel's, 'into the universe with stephen hawking' and it occurred to me that professor hawking knows more about heaven (which is just part of entire universe) than jesus did.
maybe jesus knew about black holes, alien life, other worlds, the origin of the universe, etc.
jesus could have told us something so remarkable about our universe that it would have taken us 2000 years to confirm jesus' divine knowledge and prove he was the son of g-d, but he instead decided to tell us that heaven "has many rooms"- whoop-dee-doo.. i don't think jesus had a clue that there was anything out the in the physical universe beyond what he could see with his own eyes.

Allow me to talk to you of the grandious universe with its physical constants, its super novas, black holes, multiple suns and beautiful nebulas !
Ok let's start with something simpler than:
Instead showing people the healing power of clay and spit, he could have shown everyone how to make aspirin from willow bark or that leprosy was an infectious disease, not the result of sin. Instead of worrying about money changers, he could have told everyone how to overcome disease through proper sanitation and diet. Sailor's scurvy could have been cured by Jesus, if only he had told everyone that disease could be cured by eating fruit and certain vegetables. Jesus either had supernatural knowledge and deliberately kept it from humans, for whatever reason, or he was basically something else.

Good points Mosche. I love Jesus message of peace and love and all that, but why didn't he touch on any practical stuff people could use? It's like psychics today, how come if they know all they aren't totally rich and avert bad things from happening to people? All I can think of in defense of Jesus, is that he didn't know those things OR is wasn't the time or setting in the whole universeal arrangement to discuss them?? But when is it never a good time to help someone out.

Little Girls in the '70's KHalls: Dresses

my mom wouldn't replace ours until they were very short on us.
she was very cheap.. when we sat down in a chair, it was very difficult to keep the skirt down far enough.. i remember getting slapped hard on bare skin several times because i couldn't keep my dress down when told to.

A discussion with the good Reverend....
by AK - Jeff inthe watchtower society and god have no similarity.. in my experience, as a 14 years-old-boy i was carrying a heavy burden of sin.
then i was told that jesus christ left all of heavens glory, came into this world and lived a perfect life for 33 1/2 years and then died on that torture stake for sinner.
as i heard this, i asked myself if i was really hearing what this man was saying.

I have really been doing a lot of thinking about what you wrote and here is my conclusion: YOU REALLY DON'T HAVE ANY KIND OF A FUTURE TO LOOK FORWARD TO. According to your beliefs, you are going to end up in a cold damp grave for eternity. All of you morality has not helped to have a different future than the worst criminal who has every lived. If everyone just ends up in a cold damp grave then what it the use of denying yourself and striving to be moral?
And....................................that's what I was waiting for So typical. But I love your thinking Jeff and your responses to him and I think I recognize who your talking about. Picked up his book and read about a chapter then shelfed it. All BS just in a different language.

I remember the dresses AND I remember getting slapped for just about everything at the KH! Kids were always getttin' slapped around! How mean is that?? I think parents were just so stressed out and it was a time when you could get away with hitting your kids without outside interference. Sad
