They've been mention but I think these movies had the biggest Parallels to me. The Village, Equilibrium, Matrix, and believe it or not Blade(the first one). All these movies have in common is a central controlling force, whether its the supernatural or by Human means, and there is a individual or group of individuals that are defying the authority. They all start off with the protaganist being manipulated and decieved to believe in a world that doesn't really exist. Once the "real Truth" is revealed to them, they start to rebel and make a stand.

by fade_away inhope y'all don't mind if i ghost write this post for my husband.... i recently let my friend borrow my copy of the movie "the island".

Rant Against the Borg HERE! NOW!
by Mad Sweeney indo you have a particular set of issues that really honk you off about the borg?.
would you like to just vent sometimes without having to engage in a drawn out discussion of the topic?.
are you reluctant to post your rant on someone else's thread for fear of hijacking it?.

LOL Inbyathread, Sorry to hear that your in a nightmare now. But guess what, think of those like me who NEVER had a chance to be in a dream in the first place, being the fact of being born in the Nightmare. ANGER, FRUSTRATION, BITTERNESS, etc, you name it, is the feelings associated with coming out of this cult. Funny but sad realizing that at almost 30yrs old and never having a first kiss not from momma. Fading from the borg at 27 and I will be 28 this year trying to recover and regain a social life. Those donkey dog bastards in New York ruin my teen and early adult life. It's a HARD PILL TO SWALLOW when I realize that I can never get those 26yrs of my life back. I can go on but it wouldn't be a PG rated post.

Did you watch R rated movies when you were in it?
by ldrnomo inlast night, i watched an r rated movie that featured violence.
at least 30 people were shot in the first 45 min of the movie.. while i was in and an elder, i watched r rated movies all the time just didn't talk about it.
so how many of you watched r rated movies even though "mother" said not to?.

I've watched so many R rated movies over the past 6yrs than I can account for. 5 of them being while in the Borg. Before Netflix and Redbox, I had a monthly pass first from Blockbuster(now almost defuncted) and Hollywood(defuncted). I rented at least 2 movies every week for about a year and most(about 95%) were R. Now it doesn't matter even if it is NC-17 or MA, just as long as the story, acting, and production is good I will watch. By the way, I have kept virtually all Movie tickets that I have acquired over the past 10yrs and quite a few are R. Like a Idiot One time I showed some JWS friends that collection since we were discussing this topic of R movies. They never sayed anything more about it since they ASSUMED that I had stopped seeing them.

WTBTS/JW Related Internet Radio Talk Show
by PublishingCult ini have been thinking about this for a while now, and i have decided to launch a non-profit internet radio talk show centered around jw/wtbts issues and related topics that may or may not be specific to the jw religion.
long before i jumped in to the six screens controversy, i considered doing something like this, and i think i am now ready to begin.
the format will be non-sensationalist, informative, educational, rational, objective, and i want no recognition for myself, and as little attention as possible.

Great PC!! Let's what you have stirring in your pot. I'm with Lovelylil on whether this will be a show primarily focused on the WT(doctrines, life, etc), anti christianity or roughly both. I know your working on the structure of the show so when you ready let us know. Maybe now you will have your contrast to the Six Screens tele-Conf.

Six Screens
by minimus inany opinion that you'd like to share regarding six screens?.

Mini when I was in the process of leaving the borg psychologically, I saw most of rick's youtube videos and he came off as very energetic and confident. I thought the protest were very typical of Ex-Jws who are apostates. I don't know when I first listened to his Conference calls or visited his website but non of the later scared me away from apostates. At that point, I knew what I had been raised to believe was no longer the "truth" and I was now willing to explore all criticism against the WT. Rick or his message never scared me because he doesn't seem angry just quirky with his methods against the WT. Now with all the recent events, it has become apparent to me that 1: He is never going to stop with his methods 2: He has thick skin and doesn't mind in ruffling the feathers of people on this board 3: He is allowed to post on this board freely and consistently advertised for his Conf Calls which most on here hate 4: More hate with a vast array of vocabulary has been dished out at him than some of the music artist and sports forums that I visit 5: with all the hate against him, it is quite suprising that this has not insinuated violence against him. This would be like a BOSTON Celtic fan in full gear dancing in front of Staple Center in L.A in broad daylight when there is no game being played 5: There is wide concern in the EX-JW community of being falsely stereotyped by JWs 6: The JW carciature of "apostates" is a fallacy 7: there's a unwritten code by the secret Governing Body of Ex-JWs

IT'S OFFICIAL - I LEFT THE BORG!
by doubtful ini had my "awakening" about a year ago, after spending my entire adolescent life feeling as if i was the only one among my associates with my head screwed on straight.
i was appalled by the nearly universal ignorance and deplorable close-mindedness and stupidty of the jws, the arbitrary dismissal of all scientific evidence as mere "human speculation", etc.
the 2008 change in the definition of the "generation" (at age 18) is what made me seriously commit to an investigation of my long held beliefs, a belief system and world view that had been permanently graphed onto my still developing brain as an infant.. some things the bee hive subscribe to are so irrational, yet i still held firmly to the belief that they must have the "truth", since i still believed in the bible as the inerrant, completely inspired word of god, and jws were the religion that most stringently adhered to actual bible teachings in a majority of cases - ie - no hellfire, no immortal soul, no trinity, etc... after an exhaustive study of the organization's origins in the russell and rutherford eras, and their history of constantly revised doctrines, failed predictions, and absurd beliefs subsequently abandoned and revised only after the passing of time deemed them impossible, i came to the conclusion that they were not "god's channel", and they certainly had no claim to exclusivity as "god's only chosen people who would survive destruction".... so that lead me to the next logical assumption..if not even the jws have the truth, and all the other christian denominations grossly misrepresent biblical teachings and distort the teachings of christ, and compromise on the principles he taughts us to abide by...then god has no earthly organization..he has abandoned us to our own devices...he has left us all alone, and he has left us in this state of affairs for at least the last 2,000 years... after moving beyond the the typical jw dismisal of all science that could possibly contradict the bible and their beliefs, i took up an objective, unbiased, study of science...and what i discovered is that without any presupositional limitations to one's critical analysis of the fact...science's theory of evolution is the best explanation for the diversity and nature of biological life around us...i also discovered that although there is dispute among scientists as to the explanation for evolution or the origin of life itself...that there is no dispute as to the validity of evolution.. the fact that evolution happened and continues to happen before our very eyes is incontrovertible...absolutely indisputable when objectively evaluating all the mountains of evidence..multiple lines of evidence that all converge at one point...common descent..as but one example - the anatomical distinction between homo sapiens sapiens and homo sapien neanderthalis emerge at a certain point in the fossil record..and not coincidentally the mapping of the neanderthal and modern human genomes point to a genetic divergence at the exact same time as the fossil record indicates!.

But as a intelligent individual and objective truth seeker, I can't believe a lie...I can't convince myself of a lie..nor can I bury my head in the sand like an ostrich..
So here I am today...I don't know what to expect..I don't even know if I'm right..It is possible that despite all the overwhelming evidence and reason...that the JWs are somehow correct...But we can't know anything in life is certain...and if something doesn't make sense..it's inevitably due to a faulty assumption...and it is my belief that the JWs have all fallen victim to a faulty assumption... Doubtful you are intelligent and brave to leave the ORG. True nothing is life is certain but one of the things is your freedom of mind to make your own decisions.

Come Up With Your Own Over-The-Top Sensational "Six Screens" Post
by OnTheWayOut inafter reading kool-aid man's title for his thread about "total pandemonium" breaking out on six screens over johnnie, and having a hard time believing he has the gall to use such an outcome to actually advertise why we should go to six screens and listen if we missed it, i figured that we could do better than kool-aid man and post some totally sensational ways to advertise his website and phone conferences.. stuff like this (only better and funny):.
johnnie the bethelite is actually a governing body member's son.. .
rick fearon hosts six screens this saturday and admits to being p.t.
