Yes, unfortunately I do. It's the thing that you'll never be able to escape, no matter how far you get in life. Julia gave some good advice but we are humans, and the past stays with you. You can learn from it and help others that may be in the same situation. Overlooking it is MORE difficult than you can tell yourself otherwise. You can go sometime with ignoring your past in the cult but being around people who've never been, they'll constantly remind you of their memories of doing NORMAL things in their childhood and adolescence. Just try to be positive and work hard to get where you want to be. That's my advice..

Things we missed out on :(
by lilbluekitty inanyone else get really mad sometimes about the fact that we missed out on proms, dances, sports games, being in sports, being in band, being in clubs, or going to college, or even getting good grades since armageddon was always "right around the corner"?
even if i went to college this year (at age 28), i'd be 10 years behind everyone my age!
i'm still going to go back but i feel so upset sometimes how far behind my peers i am in just about everything, including in the working world, where i am an entry-level employee with only a high school diploma (thankfully i didn't quit school to pioneer!!

Hypocritical comments by JWs regarding the Catholic Church in light of the new Pope.
by Theocratic Sedition ini'm curious, what can you expect to hear from jws this week?
or have you heard anything already.
since awakening, i find it to be hilarious when jws badmouth catholics and the pope but are completely oblivious to how hypocritical they are considering the gb and other wt heavyweights..

So true about the JW's being hypocrites. So much criticism about the Catholic's system of hierarchy, when they have the SAME type of system. They say that the Pope is treated like a God and WORSHIPPED by the members. Funny thing is, if ANY one of the GB members came to their hall for a visit, they would be all big eyed and would cater to WHATEVER the GB member would want! So what's the difference with the Pope having a parade with public appearances and the JW's licking the shoes and arse of a GB visit?

Fictious "Universal Sovereignty" Issue Proposed By Watchtower Corporation Is Idiotic
by frankiespeakin inok so a big part of the wt corporation ideological structure is the invention of the issue before all creation being "universal sovereignty".. the story goes like this very basically:.
for untold years jehovah's soverneignty was never challenged, then after so many millions of years jehovahs started his earthly creation with adam&eve being the culmination of that work.
soon afterwards satan seduces eve to disobey jehovah and thus we have the very first act of disobedience satan slanders god by telling eve god is selfish as to the reason he forbids eating this other wise nice looking fruit adam joins his wife in the rebellion.. god in his infinite wisdom allows this rebellion because this was a challenge to his sovereingty and so he is allowing a reasonable amount of time to let mankind and angels see for themselves that his rulership is better that satan's.. so basically it is like a bet he has with satan or who's rulership is best, and he's allowing time to prove his is far superior.. well if you look at it logically it don't add up.. 1. if god is going to allow satan to prove his point about who's rulership is better why is he alway interfereing and interveining that's unfair.. 2. god goes on killing sprees of people man women and chilldren (not very smart for some trying to prove his rulership is better for people to follow.. 3. god show himself to be jealous (not a good trait for a ruler to endear himself to people).. 4. god's scare people to except his ruler ship.. and i have even more reason to show the whole idea is a made up sham..

This is the topic that had me thinking 3 years before I faded. I was working one night and I started to think about the situation in the Garden of Eden. I wondered how in the hell did Eve not question the snake enough before going back to God to confirm? Let alone Her asking HOW WAS THIS STINKING SNAKE TALKING IN THE FIRST PLACE? I was debating in my head for HOURS that night and at ONE point, I thought "Jehovah" was going to strike me down for questioning his rulership! I REALLY didn't get either, HOW ADAM did not confront Eve about taking and eating the fruit? Why he as the leader, not stop and go to God with the issue before eating?
These were the questions that crashed my mind that lonesome night in a warehouse.

Had to resurrect this thread. Been catching a little of Melissa Scott in the morning, since I work nights, and she is captivating. Even though I'm not really interested in Christianity right now. She reminds me of Dr. Quinn the Medicine Woman but hotter. Can't believe she used to be a Porn star. She's definitely not another charismatic preacher but more like a teacher

did someone post already about this girl flipping off the judge?
by cptkirk ini think normally i would be with the judge all the way....but i think it was clear that the girl thought it imprudent to tell the entire court how much jewelry she owned?
her mannserisms for being in a court room were somewhat strange, but at the same time we are dragging these kids into court over what?
because they want to use xyz substance?

It was funny when I seen it yesterday. I think the Judges $10k fine was the stiffer judgement initially. He should have ignored the F-U

Jehovah's Witnesses and restaurant bills
by usualusername indid you ever have the experience of going to a restaurant with witnesses and spending 30mins sorting out the restaurant bill?.
.
thats something i miss since leaving... .

@Splash Yeah it wasn't like I didn't tell them and went anyway. They knew from the jump. I have been on the other end, when people wouldn't make it clear that they were short and I had to pay more. I hate that group, eat out crap with the witnesses. All that time sitting at the end trying to figure out the bill when we could easily had seperate bills to start!

Good Thread. There were times when I was invited to eat out and I TRIED to decline because of a shortage of money but.......the "friends" wanted me to come anyway and pay for my meal. This happened to me quite a few times. I knew I didn't have the money but they would insist I come. I sure as hell....didn't go to the restaurant and pick the Shrimp and Steak feast but a small inexspensive dish. So I'm sure this has happened to others. Not to diminish the fact that quite a bit of the JW are cheapos and picky at that. I think the mentality in the Org is that there is so much love that things like eating out with less money will be taken care of by Jeho....I mean brothers.

Wow.....what a story Terry. I hope things will be better for you.
Cut to the chase...
Day before yesterday I get an e-mail from Deb.
She is in the NEXT ROOM, mind you, and is sending me an e-mail.
Okaaay
I had to laugh at that because my late cousin's wife did sort of the same thing to me while I lived in her house. She would put letters under my room door for certain things. Seems like she shyed away for the most part with confronting me on issues with the rent, bills, etc. I was paying for them. I didn't think she was bipolar, since she was a very outspoken person who had been dealing with the loss of her husband for awhile. He was involved in a accident and his body was never found. Anyway.......Terry your situation is tough with that bill also. Maybe you can find a way to get around it or pay less like Randy said.
