I have to agree with the account servant. Definately the task that takes up a lot of you're time away from the KH as well. Reconciling, bank deposits, adminstrative stuff.....it's endless. And you're right, almost impossible to get anyone to help you count. The elders would avoid you like the plague at the end of the meetings. I especially loved it when I needed signatures from the PO or the Secretary, and they acted like they were too busy to sign a fricken sheet of paper. All this while your wife is ragging on you because she's dying to go home....and believe me, I don't blame her.

worst privelege ever?
by rockmehardplace incollecting money after every meeting.
i could never get someone to help, and i was always last to leave.
when i did finally have one person who would help, if i used them too often i got questions about why the two of us were always taking the contributions.

Most Annoying Things That Happen At JW Meetings
by LittleSister intoday i was remembering how angry i used to get at the meetings and all the little irritations that in the end would just make my blood boil these included:.
prayers that go on foreverstudy or wt conductors still taking comments when its clear that the point has been covered 20 times alreadymeetings over running by more than 5 minsmy favourite was this one elder who would play guess the point i am thinking of.
he would keep rephrasing the question from the wt until someone would bring up the point he was thinking of.

The brother who thought he was demonstrating his strong love for others by squeezing the s!#t out of their hand as he shook it.
People who don't have kids giving you advise on how to train your children to sit quietly for 2 hours. Advise usually consists of implying that you don't have a good family study routine at home.
The Elder in my cong. that said parents should start studying the Bible Teaches book with their children as early as 2 yrs old.(of course no children of his own).

My family is trying to gather Intel on me......through my 5 yr old!!
by JWinprotest ini don't have conclusive evidence yet, but i'm pretty sure that my mom and siblings are asking my 5 yr old questions to find things out, such as, whether we attend meetings or not, if we celebrate holidays, do we go in service etc.. maybe i'm just being paranoid.....but i don't think so..

My 2 year old can't see cake or pastries without yelling Happy Birthday!!.....pretty sure they know something is up, but they're too gutless to ask me themselves.

Carla/Scully, you are absolutely right, and if I thought this would have any effect on my child I would intervene immediately. Right now it appears to be harmless stuff, for example, we were at a family gathering the other day, and my brother's kid is talking with mine. All of a sudden my nephew, in a loud voice that everyone can hear, says to his dad, "daddy, #$%^&&^ says she doesn't go to meetings".
Now, I believe that my brother coached his son to ask the question, I can't see that just coming up in conversation between two kids that age. The reason I suspect this is because I've been dropping the hints pretty hard that I don't go, and 2 days earlier, my brothers jaw hit the floor when my child told everyone that we got a visit from the tooth fairy. Also, the way he told his dad....it was as if he was reporting back.
That's just one example. Like I said, I've been dropping a lot of hints, so I think they're starting to snoop around.

Can someone please explain to me then, if the number of partackers going up is so damning to the WTS cause, then why don't they fix the count? They did it at KH's all the time to pad the numbers, I'm sure they could easily get away with it. This has me perplexed, because I know how corrupt they are in other areas, so there must be some advantage for them to let the number rise.

A few years ago, I was in a skit at the CA, demonstrating to the audience how to research topics in the WT publications.
I was asked to prepare what I was going to say, and send it to the elder, handling the main talk, so he can look it over prior to the part.
A couple of days later he gives it back to me and says, "I hope you don't mind, I've changed a few things".
Nothing I had written remained in the part, he completely revamped it.

What was your initial reaction to finding out the religion is a cult?
by make yourself inmine was filled with shock and anger but mostly anger.
it made me feel that way because i have never been lied to like that growing up in the religion with it being all you know.

I wanted to pick up the phone and call every JW I know and tell them what I've discovered. That's when it hit me. Not only do I have to keep this info to myself, but I have to continue pretending like I believe the WTS lies.
I also, for the first time, finally understood why my unbelieving father acted the way he did while we were growing up. How frustrating it must have been for him to see his entire family being swallowed up by a cult and not being able to do anything about it.

What to do
by JWinprotest inwe haven't been to a meeting or turned in a field service report for 2 months, so we don't know where our cong's memorial will be held this year.
we have 3 options.
either 1)we attend a meeting before the memorial and get the info, 2) we call one of the elders and get the info or 3) we wait to see if they contact us and if they don't we just miss for the first time ever.

The advise is appreciated Wobble. As I said, I am leaning towards going and trying to avoid contact as best as I can. I do want to achieve a quiet fade and don't want to bring unnecessary attention to myself or my family. I still have many family members in, and I don't want to put them in any difficult position where they have to choose between me and the organization. I have two young daughters and it would tear them apart if they couldn't be a part of their life.

Why wait for an improved policy to exit?
Oh don't worry, it will happen. the policy change will just speed things up. Although the family will remain steadfast, I know them, they would not blame me for leaving. It may even start one of my brothers own exodus.
I know what my mother would say, "just because it's a conscience matter doesn't mean it's ok to do it". Conscious matter to her, means it's wrong. They are just implemented for the spiritually weak. Drives me crazy!!
