i've been out of "the truth"tm for a few years now.
my exit was the direct result of so-called "apostate" information on the internet.
i literally stumbled upon an "apostate" website while googling something and thank god resisted my initial (programmed) response to run for my life.. i spent the next 6 months researching using every website, book, and individual i could get my hands on before finally sending in my da letter; but the fact is, that first website contained the real truth about the watchtower religion and in all honesty, i recognized it almost immediately.. so what i wonder is, how do those "jws" that frequent sites like this do it?
But do you suppose that persons such as reniaa haven't checked out those sites too? It seems like these people are looking for debates...
Exactly, they are looking for debates, not a learning opportunity. People like that usually tell you up front that they are here only to defend their faith, not examine it.
this has probably already been discussed to some degree on here.
but i think its probably a commonly noticed thing that jehovahs witness women and becoming more and more unstable mentally and physically as a whole.
they seem to suffer from a bizzarely high percentage of scent sensitivities, chronis fatigue syndrome and the like.are they making it up for attention?
My opion, which is only my opinion, is that these maladies aren't made up consciously, but manifest because the subconscious hates the way the person is being overworked both physically and emotionally. While a believer may be reluctant to choose to skip meetings or service, a physical ailment can provide a needed respite.

are they living in harmany with the bible...as true christians and not celebrating in pagan celebrations? sadly other religions do,serving Jah is the best way of life.
Thanks for the response angel eyes. I know this thread has segued in two directions and it can be hard to keep up. Yes other religions do celebrate religions that JWs consider pagan. It is false to assume that ALL other religions do. Contrary to what the WTS teaches, there are other religions who share the JWs major doctrines. Have you done any independent research on this or have you taken the WTS's word for it that they are the only ones who carry their body of teachings? Here is one source of information if you wish to look into it.
Another question: If a religion's teachings conform to the Bible but they are NOT characterized by love, can they still be true disciples of Jesus? Isn't it mandatory that they have both?

[the following observations apply mainly to those who have had no family members in the witnesses and are cold-recruited or (like me) actually sought out a fringe religion to join.
Religion can be discussed without fights... strong feelings usually cannot.

Was your initial web experience in a forum like this or on an information site? I think that makes a difference. JWs can convince themselves that the things they see here are just people's sad personal stories, unique to the individual rather than indicative of anything wrong with the organization as a whole. As long as they steer clear of informational sites they can cling to faulty beliefs with impunity.

we criticize jws for lacking love, temperance and fellow feeling.
no one likes to be judged but it seems we do our share of unfair judging at times.
If we choose to criticize JWs for their lack of love, we should think twice before we verbally beat up on somebody.
There's a distinction that needs to be made here. We criticize JWs for their lack of love for two reasons, the first being that Jesus said you could identify his disciples by the love they have among themselves. They claim to be Jesus' only true disciples but they falsify their claim by their actions. The second is the love we were personally promised we would receive upon joining the "brotherhood." This board makes no claims as a cohesive unit to be disciples of Christ (whatever the individual religious leanings of its members) and has made no promise of love toward members. It is a discussion forum.
I do not wish to sound like I'm arguing your point. I do think it is harmful to verbally beat up on anyone who comes to this board. I merely wish to point out that JWs are held to a higher standard because they place that standard upon themselves.

Cult habits die hard. But I think the better question is, are ex-JWs that much different than anyone in their behavior? It's really hard to classify us as a group. The only thing we have in common is what we used to be. Just like any random sampling of population, we exhibit a wide range of personality traits and quirks, some more pleasant than others.
turns out, he really doesn't seem to like anything spiritual.
he hasn't been to a meeting in weeks.
we went out with a bunch of jws the other night and at the end he told me he was pissed they brought spiritual things up.
