The only time I felt fear and guilt was when I was in the b0rg. The day I left that just evaporated. It's cliche, but it really felt like a huge weight was taken off me. I've felt free ever since.

Why preach in the third world?
by bluecanary inif it's a scam to get money, why put so much effort into preaching in third world countries?
they can't be getting that much return on their efforts there.
unless it's worth it to them to be a "world-wide" religion to keep the converts in rich countries convinced.

"why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?"
No sense buying the whole pig when all you get is a little sausage.

I think communicatin is good for the psyche. People are generally happier when they can express themselves, both the positive and negative, and feel heard and/or understood by other humans. When you've done something you feel bad about, talking to a nonjudgemental, sounding-board type friend about it can help to alleviate guilt or shame and help determine a plan on how to avoid similar actions in the future.

This is my plan: after my horrible marriage and divorce I will never again marry a man without first living with him. This is mandatory for me. I do not have children, though.
If you want marriage, whether before or after living with the dude, TALK TO HIM about it. There's no shame in telling a guy that your eventual goal is marriage. It doesn't amount to a proposal and it needn't put the guy on the spot. But if he doesn't ever want marriage, that gives him the opportunity to let you know so you can make informed decisions about your future.

I'm going to give this way more attention than it deserves and look at it logically. Do most worldly men need to fool women into liking them? No. Because they have a much wider variety of women to choose from. Not only is the pool bigger, the array of pesonalities is wider. If they like "naughty" girls, they go for naughty girls. Nice worldly guys are nice because they want to be. They look for nice girls because that's what they like.
Witness men have very few women to choose from and these women are all cultivated to have the same personality. If he ever wants to get laid married, he has to win one of these over and a good many men have to pretend to be something they're not. "Spiritually strong" women want a man who will move up the ranks. Since she can't, he is her only source of power and his spiritual standing greatly affects her social standing.
At the same time, sex has been so demonized for many witness girls that even when they're married, they won't give their husbands any. So a brother goes to the trouble of being "good" to woo his girl and discovers that he can't even get what he wants out of it. His motivation to stay "good" wanes.
I'm not saying there are no nice, honest witness guys any more than I'm saying all worldly guys are saints, but the scenario painted by that horribly written poem is the opposite of what's most likely to occur.

I love Angharad. Robin McKinley is one of my favorite authors. That name is on my list of potential girl names for a hypothetical future baby.
