I find your post very difficult to read. Please consider using capitalization and ending sentences with periods rather than commas.

18 year old jw sis in law is getting wed !
by looloo inhaving got married at only 19 myself first time around i worry it wont work out for her , but at the same time hope it dosnt as it may help her escape eventually from the cult she was born into , i very much doubt whether her brother (my husband )and i will get a invite or her neice will be asked to be bridesmaid , she also has another disfellowshipped sis who would love to get to know her better as contact has been minimal sice she was disfellowshipped when my sis inlaw was very small , my sis in law is a pioneer and appears quite dedicated but struggles with ignoring her bro and sis , she also went to greece on a girly hol with a friend recently ,which im suprised is allowed in jw land , did any of you who were very dedicated as youngsters start to see things differently after getting married to a "strong in the truth" type i cant imagine her coping with being submissive as she is quite strong minded i believe she dumped a previous boyfriend for telling her what she could and could not do .
i would not have thought getting married at 18 would be considered a good idea, or do they prefer the females to marry young to keep control of them ?.

Thanks for sharing your story. I suggest you keep an eye on cognac's posts. She is in a similar marital situation to you. Best wishes.

Wow, the year is 2008, and still no Armageddon!
by Nosferatu inevery time we enter a new year, i think about how i wasn't supposed to make it this long.
i really believed we wouldn't live past the year 2000, and armageddon would change everything.
it almost strikes me as living on borrowed time, but then i remember that armageddon is a story, not a reality.

angel eyes, why don't you go onto a jewish forum and claim the holocaust didn't really happen. That's the equivalent of what you're doing here. You think you're being persecuted because you're like Jesus? You're being responded to in anger because you're arrogantly supporting lies and ignoring facts, facts that have hurt a lot of people. Jesus never did that. But you've learned well from your masters the WTS. You refuse to recognize or apologize for you uncouth behavior.

many of you dont like me for i serve Jah but im not stupid, hence im still serving Jah.
You are so offensive. You come on here and call us stupid when you refuse to accept facts as they are presented to you. Then you begin threads to have a pity party when we respond to nasty comments like that one. You don't want to learn anything. You claim to accept other people's choices but you don't; you judge and you judge harshly. Must be fun to hang out in a forum where you're better than everyone else.

When you don't have "sex" hanging over your head,
Gonna have to put some thought into that one . . . .
I totally agree with you, PS.

angel eyes, I posted this for you in another thread last night, but apparently you didn't get to see it. This is an example of what the WTS published on 1975:
"WHAT about all this talk concerning the year 1975? Lively discussions, some based on speculation, have burst into flame during recent months among serious students of the Bible. Their interest has been kindled by the belief that 1975 will mark the end of 6,000 years of human history since Adam's creation. The nearness of such an important date indeed fires the imagination and presents unlimited possibilities for discussion.
2 But wait! How do we know their calculations are correct? What basis is there for saying Adam was created nearly 5,993 years ago? Does the one Book that can be implicitly trusted for its truthful historical accuracy, namely, the Inspired Word of Jehovah, the Holy Bible, give support and credence to such a conclusion?
35 One thing is absolutely certain, Bible chronology reinforced with fulfilled Bible prophecy shows that six thousand years of man's existence will soon be up, yes, within this generation! (Matt. 24:34) This is, therefore, no time to be indifferent and complacent. This is not the time to be toying with the words of Jesus that "concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son, but only the Father." (Matt. 24:36) To the contrary, it is a time when one should be keenly aware that the end of this system of things is rapidly coming to its violent end. Make no mistake, it is sufficient that the Father himself knows both the "day and hour"!
36 Even if one cannot see beyond 1975, is this any reason to be less active? The apostles could not see even this far; they knew nothing about 1975. All they could see was a short time ahead in which to finish the work assigned to them."
Watchtower 1968 August 15 p.494 Why Are You Looking Forward to 1975?Or perhaps you like to hear the words directly from Fred Franz' mouth:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oaXbBVVoeEQ
To blame the R&F witnesses for "reading too much into 1975" is offensive.

A Conversation That Sent Me On a Search ...
by snowbird inin 2000, my boss, a police lieutenant, was nearing retirement and had very little work to do.. every afternoon, he used to come out of his office and station himself near my workstation for a chat.
there was something about me that seemed to fascinate him.
i think it was my being a jw; he used to ask probing questions about my belief.. one day our conversation centered on sin and judgment.

I just wanted to point out that we seem to respond very strongly to the tone in which something is said. The WTS told us things in the tone that they were solid fact and we accepted them as such. Even in your writing, I could hear the tone of disbelief in your boss' voice when he said. "Do you mean that no matter what awful things a person may do, death cancels it all?" In the moment of hearing that disbelief I, like you, understood like a lightbulb coming on, what the problem with that teaching was, when I had never questioned it before.
Just goes to show the importance of skepticism and the value of questioning even that which seems solid.

If you want to see a real parrot, try asking a 12 year old the baptismal questions. Don't know what any of it means, but they can sure repeat it well enough to get dunked!

Wow, thank you for posting this Sylvia! Isn't it amazing that we never put 2+2 together on stuff like this?
poppers, there is no teaching on that stuff. We were told that it's best not to speculate about it. It was in Jehovah's hands and he would take care of it as he saw fit.

Question about your spouse or ex
by bluecanary ini've noticed we have a few male posters here with wives who are still in the jws.
and i can think of one female poster (cognac) with a husband in the jws (although things are looking up for her).
of course we have a few spouses that came out together.. is it me, or does it seem like the women here are more likely to have divorced their jw husband--even before leaving--whereas the men are more likely to stay with their wives?

Best of luck to you Einstein and knows better.
Welcome to the forum, Jen Yes, we were told that all a marriage really needed was for both parties to be JWs. Not so much, eh?
