"Care Naught"?
Wow, he must be smart!
in the 1969 kit the society used a book by bible scholar justus lipsius as source material for their upright stake "stauros" doctrine of the death of christ.
they used an image of a man hung on an upright stake with no crossbeam attached to it.
then they placed a caption under it saying that the illustration came from lipsius.

hi guys...oompa here.
was i in rehab for alcohol addiction or jwd addiction!?!?
!......no computers or cellphones allowed so i have been awol awhile..... ya, i finally made my self sick enough on booze to realize i was really sick and tired of being sick and tired....so checked myself into rehab without any planning at all and while wife was out of town on a family retreat...it was a a very desperate moment in my life, and i was extremely physically and emotionally sick....i was so desperate i took zero time to reseach where to go, but called an old school friend who said rehab had saved his life and he made the calls and actually took me and helped me check in to the place he went to 5 years ago.
Congrats and welcome back. That took a lot of courage and points to recovery road. Good for you.
Sorry about the report of no elders visiting you. I've grown to accept that as a given. (dont forget, you cant count the time) But when I accept it, it doesnt hurt as bad as expecting it and not getting it.
i love music.
when i was a kid, i had hundreds of cassettes where i taped all my favorite songs.. some songs would give me the chills.
some would be so good, i'd replay them over and over again!

right now, the number of ex- elders (either resigned, pushed out or df'd) outnumber the present elders; what does this suggest to you?
.
They're like creatures that eat their own young.
Blondie: HAHAHAHA
What a line! Sad but true. The last BOE I was on I saw some of the most hateful, mean spirited things said about other brothers during a meeting for recommendation. Wow. Dont want to be a part of that anymore.
elders love to counsel people.
it feeds their ego.
over the years, you must've been counseled on different things.. when i was almost of age to become a ms, an elder counseled me for my "lack of seriousness".
Snowbird.......................................... That was during the 80's when the KH was run by power trippers.
And who's running it now?
this presentation goes over jerry bergman's research on mental illness with jehovah's witnesses.
this includes over 8 different research projects conducted by different doctors.

Take the average person in the world with average anxieties and phobias.
Add to that the additional stresses of
1. Getting ready and attending 3 mind numbingly boring meetings a week, 2 in the evening and 1 on Sunday morning.
2. Getting ready and preparing for the door to door ministry where you face opposition and ridicule among other things.
3. Spending 10 hours riding in a car on Saturday mornings in a suit with people you don’t like.
4. Having to prepare and deliver public speaking assignments 1 or twice a month
5. Being subject to criticism for “not doing more” on a regular basis from people you don’t like.
6. Spending time preparing and studying publications so that you can give comments at meetings.
7. Feeling anxiety if you don’t.
8. Stressing over a CO visit twice a year where you receive criticism for what your not doing
9. Preparing and attending a DC every summer where you spend an entire weekend in a suit with your family in tow.
10. Preparing and attending a CA and SAD twice a year where you spend an entire weekend in a suit with your family in tow.
And see if you don’t have some additional anxiety, depression, other aggravated mental health issues.
this is from an e-mail site (and yes, i think it is as ludicrous as the rest of you will).
just passing on a quick thought.... .
maybe most of you are aware of the situation in honduras, a central america little country.
I agree........... replace all meetings with Family Worship!

We had a sister who had a nice figure and wore tight clothing to meetings. It drove one high profile elder nuts. All kinds of "local needs" talks on dress and grooming.
The high profile "elders" would always chicken out and assign newbie elders to go counsel her and her husband. The thing I regret is that I didn’t refuse the assignment and tell the elder with the problem to go do it himself.
(Or as ATJ would say “f%$#k off” )
a good friend and long-time elder just back from patterson, asked me what i thought is he most prevalent problem elders are facing today....told him i had no idea.... he said "pornography" by far the most vexing problem for them... hard to believe, no?.
wait.......let me clear my history
i realize that the latest clarification of the generation teaching has been discussed quite a bit on this thread.. but i think that there are at least two other important points from the annual meeting that have been, for the most part, overlooked:.
1. the weeds of matthew 13 are not the churches of christendom, but apostates.. 2. showing love to our neighbors involves more than just the preaching work.
(thanks for mentioning this rubadub).
BTW- you're right. They will be doing cartwheels with grins on their faces if you can count the time. I wouldn't believe this could happen in a million years. But I thought that about the CBS too.
