each viewing reveals something new and fresh.. i recall, as a good jw at the time, not seeing it when released as it was not certified as 'suitable' given the content for jws.

What is the JW story on baptisim?
by Out at Last! inthey claim that all of their beliefs and actions are based on the scriptures, so how can they justify 9,10 year olds, or even early teens getting baptized?
jesus was 29, john the baptist was the same age or a year older.
all of the others i recall from the ot & nt were adults.

I wrote the Society back in the 80's regarding women as servants as a matter of equality, now that they need women in servant positions as a practical matter and not as equality dictates it may move forward. Must be one of the most ironic religions around.

Need Questions

i have continued to read but have just been too busy to post.. anyhow, over to past few years my jw wife has aced if the elders could "talk" to me.
i have always said no, only because i didn't want to bother.

These are adults whose idea of God is of someone who hurts people in the afterlife.
What a sad and terrible thing to teach their children, much less believe themselves.
There are many structural changes that need to be addressed in the Witness religion, and sadly most will not be changed short of a complete split and reformation occuring as has happened in so many other denominations. Fundamentalists and Evangelicals who hold to their monstrous concept of God offer no solution.
Its heartening to see many here becoming activists in the needs of humanity and this earth, that's our stewardship.

some of the newly exiting jw's may not know this info - but need to be made aware of it.. as a young man i was raised in the cult jehovah's witnesses and remained from birth until age 44 .
i was never, ever asked by my elder father in all those years the question, " son, how is your relationship with jehovah doing ?

Nice essay. For those of us who didn't walk down the agnostic path after our years with the Witnesses finding fellowships that celebrate the LEM as it historically was celebrated is a refreshing experience. The Bible Students, Christian Believers Fellowship, and the Free Bible Students all offer a nice setting. An evening meal together and then the Celebration. Simple, reflective, and joyous.
