How would you respond (RESPECTFULLY)?
by AwSnap inif a witness brought up the example of lazarus, how jesus said he was "asleep" (which really meant dead)....and then he resurrected him and more people than ever had faith in jesus.. as part of the argument that most don't go to heaven when they die, suppose a jw said "most people believe we go live it up in heaven when we die.
but wouldn't that be cruel on god's part to let lazarus' soul come to heaven and then have jesus bring him back to the crummy earth?
how would you respond to that?.

Ask your JW relatives the RIGHT QUESTIONS!
by nicolaou indo you remember how you once answered questions like; "do you really believe that god will destroy everyone but jehovah's witnesses"?
if you were like me you'd have looked your questioner in the eye and, in all honesty, said "no".
if necessary i'd have gone on to explain that "jehovah offers everyone the opportunity to live forever, our preaching work is an attempt to give all nations .

Why don't JWs fear God or God's Wrath?
by Deputy Dog inyesterday (see http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/182849/1/why-do-jws-fear-satan-and-demons-so-much ) we seemed to confirm that jws fear satan more than god.
in fact, angel eyes (after she told us about her encounter with a man who had been "dabbling in black magic and witch craft",) made this comment:oh and i dont fear jah....why on earth would i fear my loving father?.
now to be fair to angel eyes, she says she doesn't fear satan.

We had a lot in common with the Unitarians and the SDA. It was a journey.

Circuit Assembly This Past Weekend "Safeguard Your Spirituality" -Everyone Please Enter-
by tryingtoexit inso we had our circuit assembly this past weekend, and it was the first one in my life that i told my wife i would not be attending.
we had a brief conversation on why, and she said well just go to this last one with me, and then when we can discuss what we learn and compare it to why you've been expressing your "new" feelings towards the wts.. i love my wife, and as much as i thought i was gonna hate it i decided to go.
now that i no longer want to be a jehovah's witness it really didnt bother me that nobody hardly talked to me despite me living in this same area for 4 1/2 years, everybody views me as spiritually weak because i dont go out in service, rarely attend meetings, dont comment, lesson is never underlined, so the "friends" never interact with me anyway and i'm use to it, actually that's the way i prefer it.

Other Sheep will start taking the emblems.
by hamsterbait inwas at the kingdumb hell yesterday after a gap.. paragraph 11 planted the seed in the sheeples' heads for this.. remember last weeks study, where martha was quoted as saying: "i know he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.
" (jo 11: 24) the term "last day" was explained as applying to the millennium, in the same way as "judgment day" for those receiving an earthly resurrection.. now for paragraph 11 - i noticed some bemused faces, as usually john 6 is avoided in articles discussing earthly resurrection:.
" "the bread that i shall give is my flesh," he said.

J.Rutherford and F.Franz had an idea that a literal distinct priestly class would officiate over humanity. It would take a great deal of dismantling the literal interpretation of the 144,000 to change the Memorial into an Everyperson's celebration. In the GBs view it would be like dissolving the tribe of Levi in Israel.
Communion has a varied history in its forms of practice. The Greek Orthodox with its Eucharist, Lutherans with Closed Communion, Presbyterians practiced communion for approved members only for centuries with its Token system, you had to be approved by Elders first. Church of Christ serves grape juice (Welch's) and saltine crackers mmmmm ... saltine crackers with a little peanut butter.

Yes we have to be cognizant of our religious upbringing. I was impressed however with the Dead Sea Scroll exhibit Greg and I visited a couple of years ago. Its pretty unmistakable the care these copyists took when it came to The Name writing it in Paleohebraic characters to make it stand out from the main text on the scroll. It is stunning, this community knew their history.
