Stumbling Your Fellow Brothers
by dig692 ini just felt the need to express my thoughts on the matter of "stumbling others" in the congregation.
they tell you that you are accountable for your own soul and responsible for your own spirituality, and then they tell you that you can't do something if its going to stumble your brother.. if a brother/sister sees me doing something not condemned in the bible but maybe is a matter of conscience and he/she is stumbled...why is that my fault?
what makes me accountable for that?

I think there would need to be intention (at least logic dictates so)
I can definitely agree with this. I'm sure no one would want to intentionally stumble someone else, for example constantly offering a drink to a recovering alcoholic. However, when it gets to the point that one feels the need to look over their shoulder when buying egg nog or easter candy at the market just because you like it for fear that a brother or sister will come up to you and say could stumble someone, I think that is going too far.

Am I totally missing something here? Just had to express that, thanks.

I'm one of those "My House Was Clean Yesterday, You Should Have Seen It" kind of people. Although if we're having people over for a special dinner or something then I'll clean like my life depended on it.

The other side of the wall is a mushroom farm.
OMG that made me laugh so hard!!!!
I would think twice about accepting the offer. Should you decide to step down later on down the road and they announce it to the hall everyone will think you must have done something wrong and will avoid you like the plague!

Have you ever turned down a Shepherding Call?
by dig692 inhello all, i was wondering if any of you have every turned down a shepherding call, and if so, how did you do it?
did you just say "no thanks" or did you give a reason?.
i need some suggestions on how to decline one myself, since running away from them at the hall will only work for so long .

This is a very interesting post. I am enjoying reading through everyone's comments for both sides of the question. I believe that Jesus is the son of God, not God himself (like a JW would think) however I have believed this my whole life even before ever knowing anything about the JW's. I was actually raised and grew up Catholic but for some reason I just couldn't wrap my head around the Trinity doctrine. I do have an open mind though, so I am interested in and appreciate both sides of the issue.
A Christian I know (not sure what denomination) once tried to explain to me her view on the Trinity and gave me the example of an egg. The egg has 3 distinct parts (yolk, white part, shell) but it is "one egg"...so likewise God has 3 distinct parts (The Father, The Son, The Holy Spirit), but it is "one God".
Has anyone ever heard this example before and maybe expand on it? Thanks

what was the worst advice you were ever given
by rockmehardplace ini was that one way to increase my field service time for me and my wife was by standing at a truck stop and hand out tapes to truckers in the early mornings.
this is the same lot that is frequented by drug dealers and hookers.
another time, while studying, i said i did not understand the blood issue.
