I was wondering about Uncle Bruce and Mr & Mrs Ozzie as well recently. Having met all 3 of them I can attest to what lovely and genuine people they are. I would love to see them again.

by inbetween injust have a question,.
when you found out about things regarding the wts, maybe on the internet, on this side or another, or you had serious doubts by yourself, did you talk to somebody ?
maybe an elder or a good friend ?.

when i started finding things out i freaked out so much i didn't dare look for another 3 years or so! LOL... but then i found someone local (via the board) who I was able to talk things out with...
I knew that if I talked to the elders I would be d/a'd and that would create issues between me and my family members.

There is no good reason to leave

i've always found it interesting how when I run into people from my old congregations they always ask in sincere, slightly hushed tones
so how are you?
As if they are not sure they want to know the answer but curiosity is getting the better of them. I always tell them
i'm really happy!
At that point you can almost see the thoughts going on in their heads like oh dear... i better not find out more i'm coming into dangerous territory and they quickly make excuses to get away.
My point is this - they do want to know what it is like outside of the religon. And whether you know it or not there is very strong liklihood (sp) that they will go away and think about why it is you are so happy. I didn't think it was making a difference but I have recently found out that it has from my own JW mother who is making steps to fade away... :-)

Have you heard of the Field Service Application on the I-phone for JW's?
by awildflower inok, so i'm technically challenged and i don't use the i-phone, but my 19 year old son does and he just showed me this application for jw's and keeping track of their field service!
it shows maps, keeps track of time, addresses , even how to e-mail time to three different addresses!...............here's the thing: how many jw's would know about this if we have always been encouraged to not get to involved in technology.
they would dog technology but i'll bet they will use this on an assembly someday to show how jehovah has blessed them and look at the new tool he has given them and aren't we special.

Did the elders in your congregation give counsel to those that were DATING? Good or bad counsel?
by BonaFide ini have heard some doozies.
some elders forbid the couple from sitting together at the meetings unless they are engaged.
i have heard that said from the platform.

I know of a couple dating at the moment and they have been told they are not to talk to each other for 6 months because of the gossiping going on in the congregation. Yes this couple, who want happiness, are being punished for the loose tongues of others... You have to love the JW justice scheme.

I would like to thank my children......
by awildflower in......for being so obedient and cooperative during our lives as jw's.
for getting ready for all of those meetings and doing their best to study before hand and comment.
for volunteering to help the elderly and others with yard work and cooking and babysitting.

I have a few words that annoy me:
- The superfurlous use of 'Actually'
- Using the word 'evidently' when there is no evidence to support their statement. The correct word is 'apparently'.
And the phrase 'It's always in the last place you look' YOU RECKON!?!! OMG SO INSIGHTFUL
