well hospice came today and we discussed many things.
one of them was a 'pastor of your choice".
Golden Girl, if I can grow up to be as sweet and loving as you, that will be enough. That you have the time to share the winding down of your lifetime together with your husband is just, just so... incredible. You have given us a window in to your life, your heart.

please tell me your story.at this stage of your life do you find yourself moving toward god,away from god or staying the same?
I don't rely on my feelings to gauge my relative closeness to God. He can be as close as can be, but if I am cranky that day, I may never notice it. I compare my relationship to God as a mature marriage. Our relationship has warmed and mellowed over the years, and I have a deep security that He will always be there for me.
I have to watch that I do not take Him for granted. I probably push the boundaries of our relationship now and again, because I am secure about His forgiving nature.
(BTW, I am a never-JW)
first, i'd like to thank everyone here that has befriended me for your kindness and support.
having you to talk to after leaving the org made the shunning of everyone i ever knew and family much more bearable.
i initially came here for emotional support due to shunning and also to have questions regarding doctrine answered, which has been accomplished.
Lin, you have added to the board all the time you were here. So I will miss you of course. It is great, however, that you are moving on.

i am a catholic woman who is marrying a jw.....i have posted on this subject alone extensively on the adults and disagreements board so that is not really what i want to discuss here..question is about blood.. my daughter from a previous marriage is type a+ and her father lives 2 states away....now my fiance the jw has the same type blood as her as i do not..i am o+ .....so can a jw donate blood in case of emergency?.
can a jw give blood for testing.....in case of illness or whatever?.

ok the weirdest thing just happened to my coworker and i. we went to go pickup our breakfast from accross the street.
when we got back to our building we walked over to the elevators and as we turned the corner we saw someone get into the elevator before it closed.
we didnt see the person exactly but we saw their leg or whatever passthrough before the door closed.

This is supposed to be an article about Jehovah drawing close to us, not about us drawing close to Him. In the WT world view, however, continuous effort is required to maintain a connection with a God unaffected by what mere humans may do or refuse to do . Some excerpts this week:
...draw close to him....Jehovah gives [knowledge] only to those who are willing to search his word with honesty and humility...How Jehovah blesses those who are close to him!...Those who are close to Jehovah enjoy another blessing-divine protection...Jehovah is guarding all those loving him...Yes, Jehovah is near to those who love him and therefore can be swift in responding to their cries for help....The gift of prayer is yet another blessing that Jehovah bestows upon those who are close to him...Faithful servants in Bible times had complete confidence that Jehovah listens to prayer...We too have every reason to be confident that Jehovah is close, ready to hear our every thought and care...He values-in fact cherishes-the faithful services of his intelligent creatures...He rewards his servants...When we draw close to Jehovah, it is only natural that we want to use our time, energy, and resources to share as fully as possible in the Kingdom-reaching and disciple-making work....Our imperfect heart might even cause us to wonder whether Jehovah is pleased with our efforts...But Jehovah treasures every gift-no matter how small-that springs from a heart motivated by love...Jehovah will generously open his hand and satisfy the righteous desires of all who are close to him!...let us ask ourselves if we are making continuous effort to draw close to our heavenly Father. Big Tex I am flattered that you are curious about how this story was crafted. I have been working on my writing skills the last few years, applying some of the things I learned as an artist. It was a big eye-opener for me to find out that finished art and finished books do not come flowing out of the artist complete. We always start with rough. This story was easier than most, because I had been reflecting on the meaning of faith. My dander was up, and I needed a way to express an intense idea. It took about a day of deep thinking to come up with a basic structure of the story (Whats that dear? Sorry, I wasnt listening.) It took another day to set up the dialogues. I do a lot of editing as I go. Is the character believable? Would this man admit emotional weakness in front of his wife? Is she too whiny? Would the girl go butterfly hunting with her dad? Naah. Too hokey. How do kids act on the edge of the pool? Hey, its obvious shes about six or seven! I dont have to say it! Do I have to say Kitchen Table, or can it be implied? Then I check that the flow makes sense. Did that sentence add to the story? Are the sentences in the right order? A lot of composition lessons in painting can be applied to writing as well. Early hook, ebb and flow, fast and slow, bright and dark. Dont drag out the ending.

Xander You deserve a response, since you have obviously put a lot of thought in to these posts. But I am at a loss to what I can add to what I have said already. People have their own tastes, and this is not the first time that someone has told me they dont like my art. I dont take it personally. Sorry, I won't remove the word faith. I wrote the story to talk about that very thing. It's not like I didn't warn ya from the title.

big tex took monday night off to help me work through my latest wave of depression and yucky feelings, and kind of helped me look at things a different way.

Cruzanheart, I don't think there are any easy answers for this one. I know exactly what you are talking about with your child's heart. You must be very aware of your own feelings and motivations, a gift indeed. I started losing my mother to mental illness when I was twelve. It was not until I was in my thirties that I was mature enough and ready enough to work through my grief.
I was very angry at my mom for a very long time for "abandoning" me. I worked it through by realizing my old mom died a long time ago. I grieved and let her go. This new woman is somebody completely new, and I had to learn how to relate to her.
I also lean on my dad a lot more. He is becoming frail, which is very unsettling for me. He is supposed to be the healthy parent, you see, my rock.
Maybe your dad is not mentally ill, but he sure sounds like a lost soul. No easy fix, I am afraid.
