My grandmother dies a couple of years back. She was born in 1912. I think her death was part of my doubts really comimg to the surface. 1914 was always the big date when I was growing up. My mum felt that 1984 would be significant being 70 years after 1914, and the bible saying the lifespan of man is 70 or 80 years.

Smoking tobacco- ex-JW's have a warped view, so what should we do?
by OnTheWayOut ini used to smoke cigarettes.
i quit as i was learning the lies of the watchtower organization.. i used to smoke between 1 and 3 packs a day depending on whether i went drinking or not.. .
i didn't really quit for the religion, but as i was learning it.. i swore to quit when cigarettes got to cost me more than a buck a pack.

When I was young and rebellious I smoked tobacco a bit, never enjoyed it though, so that was a restrction I could live with. I also smoked dope, that was much more entertaining!!!!

my story,my sins and their consequences
by highdose inwith renia now gone i feel more confident to tell my story without being belittled.
i don't want to drone on and on, as having read alot of the experiances on here i find i have alot in comman with everyone.
so i thought i'd just give a short run down of the reasons why i've ended up here.

Highdose, thank you for sharing. Your experience, of the way the congo has treated you, has reinforced my belief that the identifying mark of true christianity will be the love demonstrated within the congregation. The love demonstrated in the KH is superficial at best and seems to be available only if you conform. That is not the love that any of us need!

All Ex-Elders, Mr.Flipper going to Final MeetingW/Elders! I'll be careful!
by flipper inhello ex-elders, onthe wayout, snakes, and wilyloman, just to refresh about a month ago i told you all that the appeal committee had overturned the disfellowshipping decision by the original jc as the appeal committee got a hold of me by phone and told me the society gave them direction in this.
i have since explained the situation to my witness mom and dad, 80 &82, they are good with it.
i am taking copies of the counsel you ex elders gave to me to be careful about what i say at this "alleged encouragement" meeting and promise you this, i'll watch my words carefully when they ask me questions.

Well Done Mr. Flipper! They are still on your case though, you need to be extremely vigilant.

As a JW Did other Witnesses Annoy you by Condemning " Worldly Music" ?
by flipper ini know i got bothered by all the self righteous music police who would condemn me or others for our awesome record collections from early years as a teenager .
several experiences were really quite odd .
one brother came up to me saying i was wrong to listen to the moody blues " nights in white satin "!

When I was a teenager with my first car I used take a real ingrate of a sister to meetings. I hated speaking to her and used to play music in the car rather loudly. One the the Albums I would play whilst driving was The Wall. Her face was picture when she heard the Lyric " Are there any queers in theatre tonight? Get them up against the wall. That one looks Jewish and that's a coon, who let all this riff raff into the room?" I tried to expalin the satryrical context of the songs - but she just didn't get it and complained to my mother who subsequently threw most of my record collection.

two witness ruling ?
by KAYTEE inif a paedophile commits a crime against a junior there has to be, according to the watchtower two witnesses for action to be taken.. if one party of a marriage commits adultery, does there have to be the same, (two witnesses) before action is taken?.

Any allegation of child abuse should be reported to the authorities. That is WTBS policy.

Do You Consider yourself an Atheist / Agnostic / or Christian? Reasons ?
by flipper inafter having been raised in the jehovah's witnesses for 44 years ( getting out 6 years ago ) i have now come to peace with my view of what i personally feel about the existence of god , or no god, or whatever is flying around up there in outer space.
i am basically agnostic for sure / perhaps leaning atheist and i've come to that decision based on the years and years of unfulfilled false promises of being in a mind control cult ( jehovah's witnesses ) claiming to represent an alleged " god " or " jehovah " saying there would be a paradise, and armageddon to destroy 99% of the earths population.
also- i enjoy helping others without thought of being rewarded for it.
