I'm blind to skin colour, even though I do find the little green men who beam me up to their ship every full moon I bit annoying, I always wake up with a sore bum afterwards.

Honestly, Do You Judge Someone Because Of Their Color Or Nationality?
by minimus inone of the first baby dolls i gave my granddaughter was a cute little black baby doll.
she still has it in her car seat and if you try to take her doll from her she says, "my baby!!
" typically little children are color blind.

UN scandal
by inbetween inlately i did a lot of reading regarding the un scandal, the org being a ngo for 10 years.
i tried to read both sides, the comments on jwfacts.com, as well as the defense at jehovahsjudgment.co.uk.. and then the endless discussion on topix.com between thirdwitness and alanf and others.. while i am sure, the way the org handled the whole situation, especially after the article in the guardian, was plain wrong, instead of openly confessing a mistake, it was done secretely and only after inquiry, and made it look like a cover-up.. .
however, considering the whole issue, i think it comes down to one question:.

Larsinger, I really hope you are not being serious. Your posts appear to me quite bizzare. If they are an attempt at humour, they don't work. If they are serious, maybe you are trying to strat your own cult or you might need some professional help, either way good luck! This is my opinion I am not trying to be rude, just somewhat concerned.

A CO's diagnosis and counsel
by ldrnomo insome time back when i was an elder and expressed my concerns about the blood doctrine to another elder (in confidence) the news got back to the whole body of elders and the co who i will just call (bro.
smith) .
after speaking to me for some time and determining that i did not believe in the wt blood doctrine.

It amazes me that CO's, some who are very intelligent, don't see through the BS. That MUST have doubt's since they see all crap in the congregations. But then they give such crass council. I have heard CO's say to Elders, "this must be adressed I can this congregation does not have the spirit operating on it" and then not give any guidance on how to address the problem. What help is that? What is the purpose of their visit if they don't provide direction? The truth is they don't think, they just follow the policy files, which is what the GB do. Lets face it the policy files are never going to help, because they are their to cover the arses of the WTS leaders. (Sorry ranting again - i'll stop now).

How are you faders doing?
by pat1060 injust wondering how all you slow faders are doing.i know this subject is discussed many times, but personally i wish it was more.we should post every once in a while just to say how we are doing,we need to encourage each other.as for me,it is still going very slow.right now i'm looking into the history that is being covered up.i have learned so much just by reading the older threads.it is very painful for me because this was the truth.and to be finding out so much crap that 99% of jw don't even know,it just is unbelievable.i have cut my field service down, and miss more meetings then i ever did.i'm hoping the sister that is in my face all the time, trying to help me,will forget about me soon......so how are you doing?.

Since quitting as an Elder, and getting Nugget on board, things are going a great deal quicker than I could have ever anticipated. For me the most important thing was to stop my standing order to the congregation - done.
I have n't been on FS now for over a month, but I am still reporting (don't want a visit). I went to the Sunday meeting last week but that was the first for three weeks. It would seem that now I am not an elder i am somewhat off the Radar, but I am sure someone is missing me so I still have to be careful. I don't want to be DF'd because I will lose income, but TBH if it does happen my life won't stop.
As for the important things, we have let our kids do a fair bit of the Xmas stuff at school, the only thing they are not doing is Carol Service and Nativity. We gave sweets to trick or treaters and we took the kids to a Novemeber 5th display.
I really can not thank people enough on this board for their support, give yourselves a big round of applause.

The Caring Elders
by cantleave ini would be interested in your opinion of the following:.
a friend told me about an incident that had happened in a neighbouring congregation.
she told me that a sister from the congregation needed to get back to work after a meeting but discovered that she was boxed in.

I have actually spoken to her now, and have the full facts. I know the Elder concerned and he is an A-Hole!
I have explained the Matthew 18 route to the sister and sand provided her with a strategy. She wanted me to be involved but I told her it would be more appropriate if a serving Elder gets involved not an Ex-Elder. So..... on Sunday she is going to speak to the "Brother Karz" and is going to present, what will be for her a satisfactory solution, one that after talking to me, she knows will not present hardship to the Elder and will get her car fixed.
If that doesn't work she is going to involve her congregation secretary, he really sound Elder, who I know quite well so I have pre-warned him. He was aware of the situation to some extent and agrees that this sister needs to be treated with respect and dignity and needs satisfactory resolution to the problem. I full confidence in this guy and I am sure that he will not let it go and will support her properly.
I probably won't be involved from this point on, but I am sure my friend will let me know the outcome, and of course I will let you all know what that is.
I really do appreciate everyone's input on this thread, it is such a shame I couldn't give due credit to board when talking to the sister, imagine what would happen if I said, "the aposates on JWN reckon this is the course you should take........."
Never mind, she seems really sweet and I hope she gets this sorted ASAP. Of course in the longer term, I hope she see the cult for what it is and gets the hell out of there.

If you do a quick search on the CD ROM for "world Health Organisation" in Awake magazine:
1970 - 1979 = 222
1980 - 1989 = 343
1990 - 1999 = 739
There certainly does seem to be an increase during the 1990's

In JW land if wanted to work as a researcher for a Political party, it would be seen as a compromise on my Christain neutrality. If I was working in an administrative role within the military, it would be seen as an innappropriate occupation. If I even undertook building work in a church, It would be seen that I was not fleeing from Babylon the Great, or as Ray Franz points ot in CofC even delivering Coca Cola to a military base is considered supporting the world of Satan. The point is all these situations would result in strong counsel , loss of priviledges and would indicate that I am not "sound of mind", a lack of judgement on my part, because I have compromised my standing in the congregation. To do anything that supports the wild beast would be inappropriate. EXCEPT if I am the WTS where the rules don't apply. It is sheer hypocrasy.

Elder won't marry mum because my brother's gay
by iMARX ini know that the elders and all jws have stupid "conscience" decisions to make from time to time, but this topped it for me.. my brother's gay and that's why he left the religion a few years ago.
now my mum wants to get re-married to another brother but the elder that she asked to marry them both declined.
he says that it would bother his conscience too much "because of luke living with you, because he's...ya know...gay!".

The problem with the organization is that girls and boys think that if they aren't married young then they will be left on the shelf. This leads to many marrying in haste and later regreting the decision.
I remember the person I fancied when I was young I couldn't stand a year later at least I had the good sense not to marry them.
Many of my worldly friends waited until their 30's to get married since by then they knew themselves better so it is never too late.
It is also a myth that there is only one soul mate for each person since who you meet is dependent on geography and circumstance so people often pick from a very limited pool of prospects and many find true happiness with little effort. If they had been born in another country they would possibly have found someone else with whom they would be equally happy.
The advice to widen out is good advice, work on self esteem and confidence since people who are comfortable in their own skin are very attractive. Thats what my husband would tell you.
My husband says he's perfect but in truth it's the flaws that make him interesting. There is nothing like a feeling of superiority to boost a womans self esteem. I can't wait to get my computer back.
