hey all.
i very much enjoy the website because i have been doubting jw's for years and now i finally get enough courage to check out what other people think.
i am a third generation jw so i have been apart of this religion since before i was born.
I would strongly recommend not making any major life decisions - ESPECIALLY MARRIAGE - until you are sure what you believe.

what changes in the society's teachings can we remember?

Thanks for all the responses.
one of my favourite books is still revelation, so much dramatic scenery and awesome events, cascading symbols of events.. what was your favourite book of the bible and why?.

DB likes James and I mentioned Hebrews. I do think some of the OT writings (i.e. Proverbs) can be an easier read than the NT (gospels excluded).
i know these topics have been well-covered in many places.
this is just me wanting to compile a list of concise reasons why i am sure the wt interpretation of the deluge is untenable.
this is my first draft.
And there's the WT argument that every nation, tribe, etc. has a flood legend so it must be true.

I enjoy Psalms for the beautiful poetry, Proverbs for the tidbits of wisdom and quirky sayings, and Hebrews for the thought-provoking lines of reasoning.

for weeks now, i've been trying to put together a disassociation letter - incidently, it's you lot that have put me up to this - and it's nearing completion but i'm feeling nervous about sending it.
the fast approaching christmas celebration thingymajig is kinda egging me on as i want to blaze christmas lights everywhere and not feel nervous about the possibility of a visit from the po who drops the mags in to me fortnightly (i'm generally 'not in' ... ahem ...).
i would appreciate your for's and against's - to either convince me to go ahead, or to think again and stay the execution ...
it depends on whose rules you want to follow.
since i was a raised a jw, it was pretty much forbidden for me to research the history of jws, outside of looking up the society's publication.. however, if i had not been raised a witness and was introduced to the religion, it would have been okay for me to do some research.
there would have been no repurcusions.
what is the wicked and evil truth they were trying to hide from me?

What is the wicked and evil truth they were trying to hide from me? How could I look at it otherwise than to ASSUME that there is a wicked and evil truth they are hiding?
Maybe if it wasn't the forbidden fruit I wouldn't be tempted to eat it.
