Am I the only one who noticed that under your "My Reply" you may have typed incorrectly?
people chose to celebrate his death on December 25.
I think you meant celebrate his birth on December 25.

my little one sofia asked me about christmas the other day ( she is 6) and of course she mentioned how grandma said that christmas is not the day jesus was born and that it is a pagan day !!!.

i don't mean go back to a kingdom hall, i mean other religons any of them.
can anybody think of a reason that they might do this?.
i', begining to feel curious about the church up my road, just curious, thought about popping in there one sunday, i will probably run out screaming 5 mins later but there you are....
Steven hasn't stuck to just Christian churches (thus the single quotes) - visited a Mosque, and others. He's limiting himself to doing this for only one year, so only 7 to go.

Some of you may be interested in Steve Fuller's blog. He's been visiting a different 'church' every week - he's on week #45. While a single visit give a very limited view, it is interesting to hear how services are conducted - so you know if you'd freak out before it even starts. The site is:
would they turn the world upside down, so that australia was on top?
just wondering how stralians and so africans feel about this.. s.
Did you ever see the "Big Cheese" episode of West Wing? CJ (IIRC) was presented with this scenario of changing the world maps to put, as one change, Australia on top by a group of cartographers. She disagreed with it. They asked why. Her reply? "Because it freaks me out."
anyone else prefer black?
if you don't you are a racist..
Maybe it's my monitor, but the font for the LIST of thread titles appears blue. The actual cmments within the thread appear black. And the comments are easier to read than the title list. But then again, maybe we're just suppose to read ALL the threads and not bother filtering the titles.
i am brand new here and i am heartbroken looking for answers.
i have been married for 18 yrs.
yes 18 years.
I'm not a brit, but I agree with nelly136. I just looked at this thread and couldn't believe that it took until nelly before anyone picked up on that phrase. This sounds like abuse - but since it's difficult in this medium to read expression, and intents, I'm not stating outright that this may be the case. It is enough, though, that you might want to re-examine it. Definitely something to bring up early in counseling, whether with him or not.
could it be that the proximity of 2014 is at the heart of it?.
i have no contact with jw's - except on this board - but my wife does at times with her family.
imminent is the cry of the sky for the jw's it seems.. i recall the years leading up to 1975 with a lot of that sort of thing.
It reminds me of The Princess Bride:

with renia now gone i feel more confident to tell my story without being belittled.
i don't want to drone on and on, as having read alot of the experiances on here i find i have alot in comman with everyone.
so i thought i'd just give a short run down of the reasons why i've ended up here.
highdose - Writing as a mother, I'm asking, please don't just hope your mom reads this. Send her a note/card! You don't have to go into details. I still have the card a daughter (adult) sent that said, basically, "Thank you for being there for me." I still get a lump in my throat just thinking about it.
after being gone from the jw's for many years now , and having done extensive research on the history of god and the belief in him , i can't seem to find any logical way to have a belief in an invisble being up there ruling over us.
how many here still believe?
how many don't?.
I do.
in the most recent disfellowshiping thread, pages from a new publication was posted.
i noticed under the head covering section, the following sentence:.
today, prophesying would apply to any bible-based teaching a christian miniter does.. .

This is interesting since so much that is 'taught' has been shown to be wrong and we are to watch for False Prophets. I'm assuming one who prophesizes is a prophet. This is a much wider brush than predicting when things will happen!
