it may have even been posted to this forum and escaped my notice.. anyway, apparently there is some civil unrest in honduras which, according to this email, has disrupted the activity of jws in that country.

what i always find amazing is that jws always conclude that everything that goes on in these countries that negatively impacts them was definitely started by satan and always for the direct purpose of slowing down or stopping the preaching work.. .

It used to be the time when jw would preach and meet together no matter what, unless there is a ban. Even during ban they meet in small groups.

I guess the WTS is changing where meetings and cong preaching are not necessary if a nation is experiencing problems. A a family by themselves is considered a small group.

This keeps the followers out of reach of trouble or as it is called, "persecution." How many jw would drop out if they personally face governmental persecution? Are jws still as bold and daring as the 1930s and 1940s? So by preventing the possiblity of government difficulties affecting the publishers, the WTS will keep these followers within the fold instead of Satan snatching them away.

i've had a couple of requests for smaller pdf versions of the 1928 and 1931 messenger convention reports.

these are not searchable, but are easily read and are also bookmarked.

this should attach and email with many systems such as gmail and aol.

Witnesses "Policing" People...Is It True?

my sister told me once she likes to "police" people, that it was sort of a game she liked to play.

she is true to her word, she does just that.

always seeking the negative, rarely acknowledging positive...anything.. is this common among witnesses?

Yes it is common. The elders feed upon the publisher informit.

The elders need the added eyes and ears of the publishers.

In that way, they can keep the congregation in line.

you know, the 'service committee', best recognized by the pious look of pain on their faces, the brown smudge of shit on their lips right after the circus overseer arrived.. there was gossipping garbo and the merry pioneer fornicators, joy and marysue the racial bigots, and brice the janitor, expert in hiding his child-labor business from uncle sam.. elder bob, a happy pensioner, who designed weapon systems until he retired, but insisted it was 'not his department'.

This gives reason for the jws to feel that the end is near.

I remember in the 70s when a circuit overseer said in the car group that the pope announced the year of peace and security. He just knew that the end was going to happen because of the pope's remark.

Any DF'd or DA'd people ever get visits from Elders?

just saw the thread from otwo talking about the call he got from an elder who wanted to meet up.

it go me thinking about my own situation.

me and my wife have been gone for a while.

Depends on the elder body and how zealous they are. One congregation I know, they make it a point to do shepherding calls on each and every publisher in the congregation at least once a year. They also visit once a year those that were df. They do not visit the da.

But another congregation I know makes only infrequent shepherding calls on the "weak" publishers. The "active/strong" publishers and DF are never visited.

Does having material belonging to another religious organization mean I will be disfellowshipped? Yes it could.

1. The elders would need to know of this fact if any action is to be taken. They would then talk with you and determine why you have such literature and if you are sharing this information with other jw. The elders could come to the conclusion that you have doubts and just need spiritual help. Any priviledges you have in the congregation may be taken from you. Of course being on a site like this would be another mark against you in the elders eyes. The WTS always reminds one of not leading a double life to try to get you to get the elders involved. BUT REMEMBER, if the elders don't know, then nothing happens.

2. If the elders do come to know of this and determine that you are not loyal to the WTS anymore and show no sign of repentence, then one is disfellowshipped.

It always depends on the elder, most elders are very organization loyal. But I have known some who were very "liberal" in their thinking. But the "liberal" thinking elders usually did not last long in the organization.
