  Paragraph 10, " Certainly, we always want to cooperate with and show respect for the appointed elders, who work hard in shepherding us and implementing the directions of "the faithful and discreet slave."--Matt. 24:45; 1 Thess. 5:12,13."

  What does the flock do if the appointed elders are not implementing the directions of the FDS? I know some elders who view the directions from the WTS as merely suggestions. Hence does one follow the elders or follow the FDS? Is this another conscience matter for the flock? It sounds like a no win situation to me.

  We Celebrated Our 3rd Wedding Anniversary

  tomorrow will be our 3rd anniversary that we got married.. yesterday, we celebrated early at our home.

  we had a bbq cookout.

  we ate chicken, hamburgers, hotdogs, turkey burgers and all sorts of good stuff (excellent potato salad as well).. the family came and we had a blast.

  Though they claim that the gym shooter blogged about his hatred, the authorities do not have the resources to investigate every blog.

  That is why the message that the jws give is "good news" to many. I remember a District Overseer that listened to the news to learn of stories such as these. Then he would use these stories to create a "common ground" with the householder.

  But in reality, sadly it is impossible to stop such things from happening.

  What the Family Worship Evening Arrangement Really Entails

  as most people here know the combined book study allows an evening for "family worship".. the co visits march - august 2009 is really focussing on this.

  if a jdub family head doesn't do a full evening of family worship and uses this time to do recreational activities he is as guilty as isrealite who didn't use the sabbath for worship.

  the result, will of course be same as the unfaithful isrealite, death!!!!!!!!!

  Then that means that the GB is finally coming to grip that the R&F do not really know what is involved in the family study.

  I thought it was strange why the GB was not really emphasizing the importance of the family study and how it should be done. But now they are getting serious.

  But fathers were to have a family study before the January 2009 arrangement. But many families did not or it was just a study night for the following weekly meetings. I remember that since the Watchtower was studied on Monday nights at Bethel that the Watchtower could be used.

  Maybe this will motivate the elders to do more shepherding calls. A friend told me that in her congregation that the elders were to start doing shepherding calls again. She has not received a sherdherding call for at least 5 years.

  I appreciate you sharing the above information on what is up and coming.

  Watchtower Moving its Headquarters from USA?

  i may be behind times, but i have not seen this issue come up.

  i have had some contact with jws inside the organization who said that the society is planning to move its headquarters from brooklyn, ny to canada, lock, stock, and barrel.

  is this an urban legend, a jw pulling my leg, or is it factual?

  Though they can always sell all the headquarters property in the US, I highly doubt it.

  Walkill and Patterson are too often mentioned in their correspondence to the congregations.

  Unless the US govenment comes down on them, they will stay in the U.S.

  Just remember that your family will continually invite you to these gatherings in the hope that you can be sucked back into the Borg.

  The Memorial will be another big invite, so be prepared.

  // .module-subheader article from: australian associated pressa dying man has been granted the right to refuse life-saving medical treatment on the grounds of his religious beliefs.. the man, aged in his 70s and known only as "mr a", was unconscious when admitted to the emergency unit of a hospital run by the hunter and new england area health service on july 1. he was suffering from septic shock and respiratory failure.. despite receiving treatment, he developed renal failure and by july 14 was being kept alive by mechanical ventilation and kidney dialysis.. on that day a document prepared on august 19, 2008, and signed by mr a surfaced in which he indicated he would refuse dialysis.. the hospital took the matter to the nsw supreme court to ensure the man's refusal of medical treatment was legal.. today, justice robert mcdougall found mr a's directives should be followed "even if the likely consequence of giving effect to mr a's wishes ... is that he will die".. in the documents, mr a stated: "as one of jehovah's witnesses i direct my guardian to refuse consent for a transfusion of whole blood, red cells, white cells, platelets, or blood plasma to be given to me under any circumstances even if heath-care providers believe that such are necessary to preserve my life.".

  And sometimes it is how the brothers in the congregation view matters. Sometimes the brothers in the congregation may be zealously conservative in their views and will lead the flock in that direction.

  An example was two elders in the congregation stated in a question and answer part that any celebrations, gatherings, etc. that have any connection with Christendom in even the smallest way is wrong. So the congregation will feel that going to weddings or funerals that are not jw arrangements would be wrong, even though the WTS does not currently say this.

  Another example is on a meeting part on blood and the conducting elder said that it was wrong to take fractions. But the WTS book did not say that. So if you just took the conductors word for this, then the congregation will have their conscience lean in a conservative way.

  Sadly this brother may also have been influenced in his thinking by the elders opinions on this subject and not by what he read.

  A DA Announced

  a friend told me that a person was announced last night as "not longer a jehovahs witness.".

  he told me that an elder after the meeting stated that this person used to be very zealous and a regular pioneer when he was single.

  that was only about 5 years ago.. the sad thing is that i was told that he was not in the cliche.

  He told me that an elder after the meeting stated that this person used to be very zealous and a regular pioneer when he was single. That was only about 5 years ago.

  The sad thing is that I was told that he was not in the cliche. Therefore ones in the congregation were already shunning him at the meetings. When he raised his hand to comment, the conductor could never remember his name.

  Sounds like the congregation never accepted him as a "spiritual brother". No wonder he DA himself.
