This convention blows
by Anony Mous inseriously, half day in (already had an argument with the wife this morning about individuality in the organization in which she conceded that a lot of it is based on looks) and this is already getting on my nerves.
i'll post a rebuttal based on my annotations later in the week but one thing i got to get off my mind: saying the feminist movement (women going to work instead of staying home) and the diversity laws (allowing for homosexuality - but also religious freedom, racial discrimination etc.
) caused a lot of the problems in our world right from the stage.. there are less people here than last year - about 500 less..

A Shot Out to the Vid That Got Me Out!
by Diest ini had not been to meetings in a long time, but i still had lingering guilt over what happens if the big a comes when i am out.
i found this video on youtube, which put the first nail in the coffin for the wt.
the posters on this site put in the final 32 nails and put the wt in hades for me.

Someone on JWR emailed the archeologist and verified that she never said anything about 607. Just another fine example of the WT twisting things to suit their purpose.

Can you relate to this comment from a ex jw ? I can
by Hairyhegoat inas a former jehovahs witness (20 years) and as someone who auxiliary pioneered several months every year for half the time i was involved in that organization, i know for a fact that most jws actively pray for the destruction of most worldly people.
if you really think about it, its a warped, awful and sick mentality.
oh boy i cant wait for the vast majority of people on this planet to die by gods hand because they dont believe what i believe!!

I've called my parents out on that mentality a few times, but they still don't seem to understand how hateful the "worldly people are gonna die, mwah hahaha!" attitude is.
This reminds me of a story. I was out in service with a pioneer that had a rural territory. You know how the map shows where houses are? This guy would draw flames over the houses of people who weren't interested. Even then I was disgusted by how many jws were amused by it.

My dad wont make it too much longer, advise/experiences needed
by Coffee House Girl inhello all at jwn,.
so my mom called to tell me that my dad wont be able to come back home, he has been on kidney dialysis (along with having congestive heart failure and diabetes and dimentia...) but now he is breaking down and will have to be admitted to a hospice center for the remainder of his time left (without dialysis wont be two weeks).
most of you know my situation, faded (not dfd or dad) but most of my family treats me like i am disfellowshipped except my mom and she keeps getting warnings from elders to cut off dealings with me- my dad is inactive but as head of the household he demands that i be able to visit and take care of mom and dad (so my mom must be submissive to his wishes).

I second the idea of bringing a close friend along- it may help make your jw family behave themselves if an outsider is watching.

Wake up CALL! It's time to shake off the JW's attitude/personality!
by StephanieH inthis weekend i found myself again working on my day off, not because i had to i just didn't want to sit at home alone.
when i told my mom on our daily phone call that i was working again over the weekend she told me that she was worried because over the past few months i have been "over working" myself.. when i got home i sat in my apartment alone, tired, and depressed.
i phoned my mother once more and we talked for a long while, and cried together.

It may take a while- the negative personality didn't develop overnight- but your cheerful self will come back! I know that I am a much happier person now than I used to be.

I have just left my parents home and the JW's about six months ago and have found it hard to get over.
by StephanieH ini finally desided to leave the witnesses therefore my family and basicly everyone and everything i had ever known.
i was 19 about to be 20 and i had just finished my first semester at a community college.
i was shocked at the respons of my father and others about me attending college at first they were ok but behind my back they were pretty much betting on my failier.

Hi Stephanie! Another group that you can check out is A Common Bond, a support group for current and ex-Witnesses that are gay. My sister found them helpful when she left the jws. I met the group in my area and found them to be really nice!
