Out doing rural territory, a pioneer was drawing flames on the map of not- interested people because, "Jehovah's gonna fire-bomb them at Armageddeon."
In high school, a friend of mine was killed in a car accident. One of the girls my age said, "Well, it's not like he's going to be in the New System." Yep, she judged him unworthy of resurrection and she had never met him!
if you have to choose one book or letter of the nt that best describes what it is to be a christian, which one would you choose?.
if you perfer to choose a chapter and verse, that is cool too !.
of course if you feel that more than one is needed, who am i to argue ?.

well, i wondered how long it would take until my gossip-hen of a retired neighbour would say something to me about our jw neighbours.
here is the rundown, i live in a nice middle-class neighbourhood.
homes aren't small, but they aren't huge either.
Growing up, I always remember the talks from the platform saying how we need to keep our homes- inside and out- looking nice to set a good example. You know, in addition to providing for your family, going to 5 meetings a week, studying for all of those meetings, etc. Maybe they changed their minds on keeping the house nice.
it was time for a new look.
so i have been playing around with some ideas.
when i was in winnipeg i had a hairdresser that was great.

I can think of three couples off the top of my head from my local congregation that waited until they were married. Then they found out that they weren't as sexually attracted to each other as they thought they were. They all got divorced, and most of them left the faith.
this year is going to be my first halloween away from the jw parents.
what should i dress as?
some of my dorm mates suggested dressing up as a jw, complete with "washtowel" and "asleep!
I'm thinking about going as a zombie this year. I was going to be Alice in Wonderland, but all the costumes that I've seen are kind of skanky. I was going to make a dress, but I don't really have the talent.
minimus had a great thread recently asking if any who were witnesses felt guilt as a jehovah's witness.
thought i would build on that a little dealing with how you have moved on after being a jehovah's witness ?.
one definition of guilt in the american heritage dictionary is : " self-reproach for supposed inadequacy or wrongdoing ".
I was thinking a couple of days ago about the guilt trip that my parents would put on me if my husband died. I can just hear them saying, "But don't you want to be with him again in the new system?" (He's not ill or anything. He has to deal with some scummy people sometimes with his job- 3 attempted hold ups in the last 6 years!)
...i think it's discouraging the practice of baptising minors.
jws love to say "we don't have infant baptism" but given the fact that many witness children are baptised in their early teens or before, they may as well be infants.
since this action opens them to possible alienation from their family (due to judicial action), i think this is the achilles heal for the wbts.. .
The woman that studied with my sister flat out told her that she would die at Armageddeon if she wasn't baptised. I think she was 16 when she took the plunge.

you know, being brought up not being allowed to date until you were 'of marrying age'.
My dad asked me once if I was gay, because all of my friends got married pretty much right out of high school. I wasn't dating anyone in the congregation, or even thinking of looking at any of the guys there. I was 19 at that time. Talk about pushy!
