Name some must have rock records
by Leander ini've spent a lot of time on allmusic.com and it amazes me how much nirvana is mentioned when the reviewers rate other albums.
so its a no brainer that nirvana's work should probably have a place in every rock collection, but what are some other albums every rock fan should listen to if not own.

i'm listening to tori amos "little earthquakes" at the moment, but what i've been listening to the past couple of weeks is blind melon's greatest hits, jaco pastorius "word of mouth", nick drake "pink moon", the eels "beautiful freak", jeff buckley's "grace" (i can never get enough of him), "dark side" pink floyd, phish's "billy breathless", lots of michelle shocked, joni mitchell and odetta's blues.

finally got my thoughts gathered to share......
by scootergirl ini am relatively new to the board and have to say have never had such a heartwarming welcome from so many people!
it feels so comforting to make new friends that "understand" where i have come from.. i have read many many stories, and have sat back in awe....wow, what stories.
mine is quite simple, but none-the-less my story.

christy,
i feel for you, and i know it's hard. ((hugs)) to you. don't cry, things will only get better, and the past is behind you. it will all work itself out. i'm proud of you for sharing what you could of your story! i'll check back in to see if you finish it.
in the mean time, just know that it will all be alright! keep your chin up.

no disfellowship for inactive?
by jaccilynn inmy mother was having a moment while she went to visit a friend a few weeks ago, worrying about me being disfellowshiped and having our relationship change.
the sister told my mom, that i could not be disfellowshiped because i am not an active memeber of the congregation.
supposedly, her daughter was a full time pioneer, stopped attending meetings, and realized that she is a lesbian.

no, bonovox, that didn't confuse me more. it helped, thanks. as for the daughter, i don't know her. i don't even know my mother's friend, she lives in another town. i just wanted to know for myself, since i'm a big SINNER, yet i'm inactive, how the congregation would go about getting me disfellowshipped if they wanted to. i don't really care if i am or not, it's just a formality... a title that would be given to me by a group of people who are not a part of my life. i just wanted to see if what the sister was saying to my mom was true or not.

i'm sorry bonovox, i know how sad it is to loose family memebers when you change your beliefs. ((((bonovox))))
i just want to know though, CAN they disfellowship you if you're inactive? do you HAVE to be actively involved in the cong?

I did something really stupid.... :(
by Eppie inhey,.
ok, i need all the advice i can get...... last week i told my sister (she is jw, as is my entire family) that i did something stupid.
i had just broken up with my boyfriend because he was cheating on me.... and in some kind of drunk-revenge-mood i slept with his best friend..... .

jaccilynn
((((eppie))))
i agree with puffs. your conscience was weighed down by the fact that you had slept with your boyfriend's friend. so you told someone, your j/w sister. that's completely fine, you felt guilty and you wanted someone to talk to. you told your sister in confidence... if she decides to go back on her word and tell the elders... that's her deal, not yours. you don't have to say anything, confess anything, do ANYTHING you don't want to do. if you don't think you need to talk to the elders, don't do it. if you don't want to tell your parents, don't do it! be your own person, don't let anyone push you around.
i was pressured into telling the elders things that i didn't think they needed to know, and i felt horrible afterwards. not for the things i had done, that THEY disagreed with, but for being bullied into telling them what i did.
only you know what is right for you. don't let anyone push you around!!
we're the same age ep, if you wanna talk more, send me an email.
