Songs that remind you of your Mum . . .
by nicolaou ini remember my mum standing at the kitchen sink preparing little cypriot meat patties in a beat up enamel dish.
there was a window overlooking the small garden where me and my brother and sisters used to play (wonderful, wonderful times before the cult got its tentacles into our family).. my mum used to sing lots of tunes but this lynn anderson song is the one i remember .
actually choking up a little .

Eating Disorders and the JWs
by the_raisin inhey everybody!
so i was wondering something... am i the only who realized that eds ran rampant throughout the witnesses?
i remeber dreading the conventions and memorials because, as every young girl involved knew, we all covertly checked each other out and snarked on each other's bodies.

I had an eating disorder While a witness but I cant say it was the organizations fault, more my mothers and my own need to control the few things I could in my life

How Many of Them Do You Know About?
by clarity inafter flipper's thread about the wt child abuse cases, i started to think about how many children i know of personally who have been sexually abused by a jw!.
as someone who is not especially 'in the know', it's amazing that i do know five of them.
one who was a small baby, at the time!.

there are 2 classes of ex Jehovahs witnesses
by the max inhi im part of a group of ex jh,s, we meet for drinks and dinner, go to football games.many of the guys do drugs,(i dont, i like sport) , most live very hedonistic lifestyles, lets leave it at that,(im happily married).
my point is, when i left, i was honest, and got df,d.
now im experiencing the same kind of shit that i experieced in the hall, the ex jw,s are just as judgemental, and stupid as when they were at the kingdom hall, for eg you were df,d we were not,it doesnt matter to them, that their doing coke and getting into group sex.

Theres probably several types of ex JW'S but Ive found their all a little nuts n/o intended and i include myself in this but we have issues I avoid meeting ex witnesses I dont already know becuase I dont trust them. A lot of them are like jam was talking about and I cant stand it they judge you and hypocritically try to bring you back into the fold. Ive even heard of ex witnesses telling elders on witnesses or people trying to fade or disasociate to elders. Some of my best friends are other ex witnesses who left around the same time I did and ive reached out to others but most of the time it doesnt end well :-s were just all going through our own process and if another isnt on the same page as you it can be a disaster

The classic features of a JW wedding are:
by highdose infirstly a wedding/sales talk that mostly features heavily on how the woman should behave (hint, doormat) and lightly brushes over the fact of the husbands bevhaviour ( oh yeah he should treat her well).
the reception normaly at some crummy comunity hall with yellowed ceilings and chucks of damp plaster falling off the walls.
the seats normaly arranged facing eachother all around the edge, so that theres a huge unused space in the middle and everyone is climbing over everyone elses legs to get to their chair.. a big spread donated by everyone, normaly an ode to food poisoning.

In defense of Witness weddings sure the ceramonys are total stock for the R&f but the reciption are another matter Ive been to literally over half a douzen witness weddings and the reciptions were generally beautiful affairs, lots of speeches about the bride and groom much to do about them the bride and her party would usually give out handmaidavours. Either catered or potluck style but the food was always very good. and lots of dancing and fun. I miss them actually sure they wernt all awesome but thats the stand outs for me.

everyone's missed me, everyone's thrilled that i came, blah, blah, blah.
to be fair though, there were a few there that i do miss so it was nice to see them.
